  1. any comments for alldata.com ? good? bad? does it make sense pay $25/year to alldata.com vs wait and buy a book from hayes or etc.? tnx
  2. any books or online info? how to change oil in ES330? other filters? I'm looking info for 15k service tnx
  3. for me it's very simple: Lexus made in Japan and Camry in ... you know where I paid for made in Japan as I plan to keep it OT: when I checked for Acura TL (USA) vs. TSX (Japan) - TSX is far better made.
  4. Hello, Where I can get "rolling resistance" numbers to be able compare diff tires. I know that less is better, but where to get those numbers? tiresrack doesn't have those numbers :-( thanks
  5. What do you experts think about injector cleaner like a Techron? That may help with MPG too in case it wasn't done offen - my 2c. at Walmart $6 Also who is using and what and how offen? I use it for every 15k. About O2 - what can tell that it's the time to replace O2 sensor? Can OBDII help? I know when it fails, but how to know if O2 doesn't perform well? Already replaced one O2 in Honda with about 60k. thanks
  6. For my another Honda I put small portion of oil in ~1/10, as it's located under hood in vertical position that oil amount doesn't comes out and enough for first start. But, nothing like that will be done at service as it's wasting time for any mechanic - IMO
  7. Lexus engineers MUST provide work / load for Lexus service dept, otherwise dealer will not get paid for even simple service - again IMO. Hide oil filter in unpleasant place is one of tricks :P I think that was made for the purpose. Otherwise - how you can justify oil change and tire rotation for 5k service for $189.99 !!! Yes, service washed car too. Anyway, it doesn't make sense for me to pay $189 for each 5k service. Some told story about a car where front tire has to be taken off for oil filter replacement That was real rocket science to make everyone go to dealer for oil change.
  8. thanks, it's cost $26 shipped vs. $13 for SureDrain - twice much Why you don't like SD? too slow to drain oil? etc? I agree that operate valve is easy then SD. Do you use it with Nipple (extra $3)?
  9. yes, please name & number & link where I may buy it. tnx
  10. I think that is Dealer/service center req. to put oil filter and etc. to such inconvenient places that customer comes and pays for service - IMO. That's all about $$$. As more labor time req. more customer pays for it - as simple as is :chairshot: Any one uses SureDrain? And which one SD2 or SD3 or?
  11. In case I go with syntetic and will change oil every 10k ml - it's Ok IMO. Then I have to reset that ECU every 5k ml anyway :( As I understand it has nothing to do with oil or anything else - just reminder triger for each 5k ml - isn't it? read 'Maint. req." as "Time to Pay Lexus" :whistles:
  12. please, correct me: 1. Performance (or high performance) tire == higher "rolling resistance" 2. higher "rolling resistance" == lower MPG 3. higher "rolling resistance" == more road noise 4. higher "rolling resistance" == better breaking 5. higher "rolling resistance" == less treadlife in that case the lowest road noise tires == unsafe :cries:
  13. Thank you very much for all that info. Would you mind give me more info about "rolling resistance"? Please. Where I can get that info to compare tires based on "rolling resistance"? What is "rolling resistance" for TripleTred and Falken and Turanza ER? How "rolling resistance" correlates to "road noise"? Any dependancy from one to another? p.s. I don't plan ride on snow or ice unless I go in Ice Arena
  14. what effects gas economy? Why some people wrote that after they went with another tire brand they got better or worse MPG? Does performance tires provides better MPG then touring? Or vs.? so many factors with tires ... . thanks
  15. thank you for the answer. based on tirerack reviews - Assurance ComforTred is cheaper and "better" then Assurance TripleTred. Assurance TripleTred is directional - does it make those tires better? Again that only based on reviews, I can't compare it as apple to apple :( Sears sells Falken in my area only. Does it include free life time rotation / balancing? As Costco does for HydroEdge for example in case tires bought from Costco. Also at Costco twice / year is $60 off coupon, which brings HydroEdge to the price of Assurance TripleTred or even less. Free rotation / balancing is another key factor for me. About Consumer Report - I don't see there HydroEdge Also based on my knowlege on PC and laptops and Monitors I don't "understand" CR reviews for those products at all - as they didn't compare important things at all (HDD seek and transfer speed, RAM transfer, Video Card type and performance, Monitors dot pitch and black to white rate 8ms 16ms or 20ms or higher, etc.). Just hope that CR has better knowlege of cars and tires. Any explains why Turanza LS so high rated on both CR and tirerack? It's kinda bad we can't find real numbers for road noise in db - for example the same car that was driven 10 times with 10 new diff. tires and then another 10 times with same tires, but with 20,000ml old. Thanks.
  16. my OEM tires are P215/60R16 94V I'm not sure I need V speed as I'm not riding higher then 80 MPH (pick) even T has to be fine - again IMO I don't need tire for all whether - no snow, some rain, but not much Road noise and confort are top of the list. I've checked tirerack and I see that OEM Turanza E33(30) doesn't have good reviews in opposit Turanza LS is high rated. Does HydroEdge has less road noise then Turanza or other? Or that just marketing? thanks all.
  17. tire 16" I'm in CA, no snow, rain 1 - 2 months only, 90% summer, so I may say summer touring tires priority: 1. quiet ride 2. long mileage 3. wet weather - just in case Thanks
  18. agree 110% all were fixed and I'm happy now However, "LEXUS" isn't absolute quality as it was before ... Even Consumer Report went in favor of Acura TL Where interior is "plastic with sharp edges" for $30k car - after that I went with Lexus ES. Looks like overall trend of quality is going down :( with replacement of cheap materials - again IMO.
  19. Hello, I know that 16" Brigestone Turanza aren't the best tires. But which are? Which are good and don't cost a lot and which one are the best? What do you think? Does it need to be directional tire? thanks.
  20. Hello, How I can turn off maintance light that is triggered on every 5k? How would you do it when DIY oil change? thanks
  21. Hello, sorry, took so long for reply. from my service notes: cause: excessive clearance at V-brace & trtrunk access door latch 711994 part# 7107533470A0 cause: excessive clearance at track harnesbracket causing rattle 711994 part# 712003T020A1 cause: excessive clearance at lower dash causing rattle 550994 part# 5540133160B0 also my car got realigment - had pull to the left -------------------- looks like quality of ES is dropping down - IMO
  22. in my 3x(s) ES330 wish I got Lexus 10 years ago, but $$$ go for it when you can afford it, that is IMO why you don't see many 20 years old Lexus drivers. Yes, BMW 540 far better for fun driving - again IMO. But, for every day commute in traffic (5 to 40 MPH) nothing can't match ES330 in comfort and noise blocking. All super additions like a AWD, stability control (VSS), 600 HP dual Hammi (in new Jeep), Sport Pilot tires do not count when you are in traffic. Ferrary or Kia all are going with the SAME 5 MPH speed or even less.
  23. How do you reset ECU after change oil?
  24. where you / I can get Amsoil full syn for less then Mobil 1? I agree that Amsoil in better, but in my area it's cost more :(
  25. Are you about full syntetic? or ? WalMart ? last time I checked Costco doesn't have new 15k M1, where walmart does. 5Q bottle for less then $25. don't remember much details ...
