  1. thanks, it's cost $26 shipped vs. $13 for SureDrain - twice much Why you don't like SD? too slow to drain oil? etc? I agree that operate valve is easy then SD. Do you use it with Nipple (extra $3)? ← Mike, The FRAM system is a 2-piece system. It is a quick disconnect that you have to mate and disconnect each time. 1 more part that I don't need plus is messier since have a tube you drain through. The fumoto system is just an open and closed spring loaded valve. You do not need the nipple. Now, when I drain my oil, I do run it up on ramps for the extra clearance. Just a preference of mine but well worth doing! Also, I tried the FRAM system on my Oldsmobile and it leaked!
  2. The cleanest way to change the filter is to stuff paper towels under the filter by the drip area. Loosen the filter, allow towels to absorb oil, hand tighten filter then remove dirty towels. Repeat this process until no more oil in filter. Usually takes 2-3 times. As far as the drain plug, I have replaced mine with a swivel valve. Works like a champ and I never have to remove the drain plug or replace the gasket ever again. Stay away from the FRAM SURE DRAIN systems. If anyone interested, I can provide name and number where they can get these valves. I've used on 4 vehicles and never a problem.
  3. How do you reset ECU after change oil? ← Make sure odometer is set to indicate total miles and not TRIP A or TRIP B. Put key in ignition Push and hold the odometer reset button Turn key to "ON" but don't start engine Mile indicator will flash, then 00000 will display Release button and is reset
  4. I would agree with you there. I've known many a times someone had a great experience with something and I had a bad one and vise versa. Lexus of Orlando did OK by me. I guess I had one of the "honest" sales people.
  5. Vicki.......I live in Orlando and purchased a ES330 from Lexus of Orlando. It was a most pleasant experience. They were honest and very professional. I would recommend them to anyone. Sorry you had a bad deal with them. Goes to show you, what works for one may not work for another!
  6. Was it the Delphi XM or their Roadrunner version? I can't see how you would of installed it in the ashtray. I have a ES330 and it won't fit. We'd all live to see pictures.
  7. Hey guys, I found it....eurika! Right where you guys said. Filter being tucked in and black did not help things. It does not seem like such a tough job removing it. Thanks again guys!
  8. Hi there....fellow floridian here. Have you located the oil filter yet? Seems like multiple opionins as to where it is and how to access it. I too have a 2004 ES330. What grade you going to use 5W30 or 10W30? Lexus says 5W but local LExus shop says 10W....??
  9. Lexus says to use 5W-30 on the 2004 ES330. They also say if you have to use 10W-30 do so but switch back to 5W-30 as soon as you can. Local Lexus dealers tell me they only use 10W-30. I live in FLA and they say 5W-30 would flow too readily. Who do I believe???
  10. steviej.....Guess I'm missing something here....You say the filter can be removed by accessing from the "top" of the engine compartment? If so what is the orientation of the filter? Seems like if the shroud is covering access to the filter from below, if I am able to remove it from the top I'll get a flow of oil and quite the mess all over the shroud. Never thought a filter would be such a big thing. Maybe that is why I've heard Lexus charges $40 or more for oil changes..
  11. Thanks guys. That was my suspician. I tried to look behind the shroud without removing it but could not see the filter. I'm just wondering if the whole shroud need be removed? Guess I'll start removing fasteners and see what happens. Why did they ever design it like this? Darn!!!
  12. Well guys, anyone know where the oil filter is on a ES330? I'm guessing it is under the forward shroud since that is the only area I can't see 100%. If so, does the shroud come off easily and go on as easy? It looks like quite a few fasteners on it. Any pre-cautions to take? Thanks..
  13. Does anyone know where exactly the oil filter is on the ES330? I've looked everywhere and can't find it. I feel like a dunce since I am mechanically inclined and can't find it! Called Lexus and the fellow I got at service said he "thought" it was towards the aft of the engine hidden by a panel. Well, I can't find any evidence of this.
  14. I had XM in my Olds Aurora (which I just sold and bought a ES330). I mounted the antenna on the inside dash. It worked perfectly. Was able to see the wire run down the dash but be a little creative and you can hide it to some degree. It never bothered me. I plan to install in my Lexus over next few days.
