  1. Haha, I just looked at my friend's '96 Legacy Outback wagon. Now THOSE are some high profile tires!!!
  2. Well, I'm still having trouble getting it above 18 mpg with mixed driving (15 mpg with all city), but my highway mileage today was astounding! At 65 mph, I got 28.6 mpg. Previously at 75 mph, I got 25.5mpg, but I also just got new tires. I will test the mpg on the return trip on Sunday at 75 mph.
  3. JC, sorry to set you off like that. I did not know what "74s" meant and I also haven't been re-reading the thread every day since I've started following it. Put those LEDs back in so you can see if your fix worked! I have a feeling that the drain is not coming from the bulbs (stock or LEDs), it's coming from something else in that same circuit (you probably already know that), so replacing them with the stock bulbs will not have any effect on the battery draining. Seriously though, I hope you get your car fixed. It looks great and it would be a shame for a nice car like that to be sold because of something silly like an alarm. I know how embarrassing it can be to have that alarm go off constantly--somebody in my apartment complex had an alarm that used to go off once an hour and people would literally be screaming out the window at her every time it happened! I will be staying out of this thread as you asked. Feel free to add me to your ignore list if you want, but I really don't think you getting mad at me for forgetting about a couple of posts you made several days ago was necessary. I don't think that's any way to treat someone who was seriously trying to help you solve your problem. Wasn't I the one who first suggested that you had a battery draining problem?
  4. I would definitely check that the tire jack and lug wrench is there, and check the pressure in the spare tire. This is great advice. I had a chance to look at the spare tire yesterday, it is soft to the touch so it's probably filled with 5 - 10 psi or less! But on the plus side, I found out that the spare is a full size spare with an ALLOY wheel!! And it's in perfect shape!!!! I thought it would've been a steelie!
  5. You have an outlet in the glovebox? I have a 98 and there are two in the back(each door), one near the ash tray and one in the armrest compartment. But nothing in the glovebox. Concerning your maintenance before a trip...I look it as what you should NOT do. Don't do any major stuff, (like timing belts, water pump or engine rebuild ;) ) And even seemingly simple stuff can get screwed up and should not be done more than a few days before launch. Give yourself a few days of test driving. Lastly, relax and have fun! Sorry, I meant armrest! :D :D It's so big, I call it the glovebox! I just drove the car 260 miles today to visit my parents over the weekend. It drove like a brand new car. I love this thing!!!! BTW, I drove the speed limit and I got a record 29 miles per gallon!!!!! I had no idea a huge V8 sedan could get that kind of gas mileage.
  6. I got confused because SRKPerformance was speaking as though they were still in. Why don't you reinstall them so you can see if all this PB Blaster is having an effect? (You don't have to be a jerk either...)
  7. See this post:http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...st&p=358279
  8. I will try to take care of it this weekend. Dare I go back to Pohanka Lexus to get the parts?????? Do you guys have a part number for those rubber bumpers?
  9. What do you mean by done and gone? You mean you got them to turn off completely? If so, that's great! I can't wait to see if it fixed the problem!
  10. So the gas additive improved your handling???? My BS meter is going off! :D RELAX, IT IS A MENTAL THING..... Ahahahahaha :D :D :D
  11. It's definitely the most comfortable car I've ever driven, especially on the highway. I love the driving position, too. (Compare that to the seating position in a Crown Vic--the seats on those are so close to the ground and the dash seems so high you can barely see over it!)
  12. Ah. That's what I was getting at. Thanks. I will probably get the Silverstars based on your photos from the other thread, but only if one of my headlights burns out.
  13. Actually, the inverter I have is a 10A inverter. The power outlet on the car says "MAX 3.5A." Also, I'm not sure about my laptop (I assume it consumes less power), but my desktop's power supply is rated for 550W and can get close to 400W if I'm playing intensive games, etc. I'm sure my laptop would be in the 100W range! This particular inverter has been used to power a small CRT television and a Playstation 2 at the same time in a Honda Odyssey minivan with no problems at all. Is there any reason to believe that there would be a problem in the LS? Haha, sorry for stressing this too much. I guess I will just prepare some fuses in case something goes wrong!
  14. It sure doesn't. But your entire drivetrain probably feels it! And your tires! The LS400 has to be the least satisfying car to drive fast, though. I miss having a sports car. After I finish grad school, I'll probably keep the LS and get something sporty to compliment it before I go insane!!!!!
  15. Why would you never trust Consumer Reports? I buy almost everything based on CR's ratings and have always been satisfied with the products they have recommended. I've found that most people who go around bashing Consumer Reports don't really know anything about how they work and where all of their data comes from. After learning more about them, it is clear to most people that Consumer Reports is one of the few places to get truly accurate information about how well a product performs initially and ages compared to its competition. I admit that I have no idea how they process their data, but their website gives very little information about it. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/aboutus...w-we-survey.htm A big gripe I have is the way they seem to rate sports cars. Granted, the Miata is usually on top (I just came from owning one--it was the most fun car I've ever driven), they seem to place too much weight on practicality and dumb things like ride quality and fuel economy instead of what's more important in a sports car--performance and handling! Consumer Reports is a great place to start researching a new or used car, but it is definitely not the end all be all.
  16. I think so, too. Just don't make it a habit to rev it up to 6000 at every chance! :D
  17. Haha, I meant it's hard to tell from the photo you posted in this thread the color difference between your yellow fog lights and the normal fog lights. I thought it would be really obvious that the fog light was yellow, but it's not! :) I'm just talking about aesthetics!
  18. Yep thats the plan when I will the lottery. :) For some reason, when people buy a used car, they just buy the one with the lowest price. It's beyond me why people don't consider the ownership costs of the car, and the largest component of that for any used car I've had has been maintenance and repairs! If you spend an extra $2000-3000 buying a car with half the mileage, you may very well get that money back in the long run. Plus you'd have a car that drives better and is more dependable! :)
  19. You sure like to live on the wild side. I guess the LS400 is very well suited to you. :P (Just kidding of course.) Oh yeah and I dont think I have ever had it over 3K rpm. I baby it and probably have more problems than anyone else here. I guess I need to torture and abuse it and maybe I will have less troubles? ;) Never over 3K? I don't blame you, though. When I'm just driving around town, 2k is enough in this car. :) (Plus every time I get on the gas on this car, I feel like I'm wasting so much fuel!)
  20. You sure like to live on the wild side. I guess the LS400 is very well suited to you. :P (Just kidding of course.)
  21. $90 each for motor mounts? How else did you think they got them to isolate vibration so well? :P The simple solution is to buy a low mileage newer one. I think any LS400 that has been garaged and dealer maintained with all major services on record that has less than 100k should probably be okay. Less than 15 years old is a plus, too!
  22. Check it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1aQ77Eby7E Looking at the trip odometer, it looks like it takes about 0.8 mile for him to reach 120mph. :P
  23. I never trust Consumer Reports, but I do believe that Lexus is the most dependable car out there.
  24. So the gas additive improved your handling???? My BS meter is going off! :D
  25. 86'; Ten thousand foot runway......It'll take about 9,950 feet.......The last 50 feet is a bit tricky though.......... Really? I read somewhere that it takes a Crown Vic Police Interceptor about 1 mile to get to 120 from a stop. But maybe that figure is inaccurate. Where are you getting your info? I don't believe that a 2000ish Crown vic police interceptor does 0-60 in about 8.6 sec and does a 1/4 mile in 15.32 sec at 93 MPH. My 96 es300 stock does a 1/4 mile in 16.1 sec at 89.1 MPH and its slow. Crown Vic's are SLOW Haha, I never said they were fast. The 95-97 LS400 is no slouch, though. It's a good 300 pounds lighter and has more horsepower and torque!
