  1. Damn the giant corn lobby. If I remember correctly, E10 gasohol has 4% less energy than 100% gasoline, which can cause you to lose 10-15% of your gas mileage. (Who is ethanol really helping?)
  2. You've just got to keep rubbin it in don't ya! :D :D :D Ahahahahahahaha.... Have a nice weekend!!!!!
  3. Very nice! I wonder if mine is that dirty, as I have about 60k miles less than you do.
  4. It's funny, some of the truly great retailers like Newegg.com have nothing but good reviews. I really hate jerks on Amazon.com who don't give me any feedback. I have sold 4 textbooks and I have gone out of my way to make sure I provided tracking numbers and quick shipping free of charge, and I didn't get ANY feedback from anyone. So when I post stuff on Amazon.com, I'm still listed as a new seller (since those mouthbreathers didn't bother giving me any feedback). That's the last time I'm doing that!
  5. Because it doesn't have a soul! This car has made me realize more than ever that a car needs to be much more than a comfortable couch with wheels. I have already made a definite decision that when my graduate student stipend finally gets confirmed in a few weeks or so, I will sell the LS and get the Mazda RX-8 I have been lusting after!
  6. That doesn't mean he shouldn't reward good service with a good review on those kinds of websites.
  7. I am having fantasies of trying to seriously sell it, but I don't think I can. :( So just enjoy the pics for now! :D
  8. I was thinking about prepping my car for sale, so I cleaned it a little bit and took some pics. You think it will sell? :P
  9. If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let 'em go, because, man, they're gone
  10. Your LS must be in poor tune. Your gas mileage is evidence of that. My gas mileage is around 26mpg at 75mph, and around 15-17mpg around town.My '97 LS is pretty quick, but very reluctant to downshift in "NORM" mode. It "PWR" mode, it downshifts very quickly and seems much more free-breathing. Certainly much faster than any Corolla.
  11. I'm not sure what documentation you expect me to have. It was a friend of a friend who crashed her car. I would post more photos, but that would reveal the license plates of the car and also quite possibly the location of the incident, which are two items that I do not wish to reveal at this point. We do have a case of hearsay--I'm not saying I don't doubt her story, I was just wondering if it is a common issue or not (apparently not, since no one else has ever heard of a case like this with the IS250/350 on this board).Let me ask my friend tomorrow if it's okay to post the rest of the photos. [EDIT]Actually, I found one that doesn't show the license plates. That's what I mean, as it's a friend of a friend story. As SK said, aftermath pics are just going to show a wrecked car, etc. Documentation would be a police report or maybe a news report. Personally I can see some discussion, which we already have, but not an "invesigation". I just don't think we should be promulgating the idea that there is some problem with these vehicles when there isn't. If there are any reports they aren't to be found here. My reasoning is that right now if you do a google search on "sudden acceleration lexus" this thread is the third item that pops up. Most people might see the header and never read what's in the thread. I think everyone understands what I mean by that. As a matter of fact a google search might yield a lot more info than you'll get by asking here. http://www.loqu.com/lexus-is250-sudden-acc...hallowain-89800 http://www.wate.com/global/Story.asp?s=6459687 Not sure why you're getting so defensive about this. Who's going to Google "Lexus Sudden Acceleration"? Do you own lots of Toyota stock or something?Anyhow, my personal theory is that she was either wearing high heels and somehow pushed the gas, or perhaps the floor mats somehow caused the throttle pedal to stick.

  13. I wonder what would happen if you pushed the accelerator and brake in the AWD IS. Would it still just waste the rear tires? Okay since you guys are probably curious, I'm posting one photo that doesn't have any identifying features. :D
  14. I have been asked by a friend to investigate something. His friend was parking her 2007 Lexus IS (not sure 250/350) in a parking spot and had her foot on the brake. She said that suddenly, without touching the gas pedal, the car began to accelerate at full throttle. The car ended up running up the sidewalk, and crashing into a building, causing tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars of damage to the building, and totaling the car. Is there an issue with the late model Lexus IS, or is this nonsense? I have photos of the incident, but I don't believe I am at liberty to share them. Thanks!
  15. Check your credit card statement. :P If you feel so strongly about this place, why don't you go on resellerratings.com and give some feedback?
  16. I've taken the first step this weekend to get my parents to buy the car. I let my 75 year old dad test drive it!!! Hopefully he won't be able to resist it!!!
  17. I had a chance to go to a private classic car museum/workshop today. There was a fully restored 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner in there with the hood open. The thing that caught my eye is that the hood propping mechanism was a contraption involving a pretty heavy-duty spring, instead of gas shocks. Brilliant! PS There was also a cool Buick. Look at the hood ornament!
  18. Okay, I did something I should NEVER have done. I sat in an RX-8 on a Mazda showroom floor. That car SCREAMS fun, even when it's standing still!!!!! I MUST have one!
  19. That is uncanny! Honestly, for this price range, the LS400 is one of the best cars you can buy. The Miata is one of the most fun cars you'll ever drive. Although I'd rather be driving something other than the LS right now, I'm not regretting buying it. It has helped me really get an idea of what kind of car I want to end up with.
  20. I know you took a lot of time to take those photos, but do you mind taking some closer pics of what the rails the curtains ride on look like? And also what size are these curtains? Large?
  21. Is factory tint really 35%? I think it's more like 50% or even higher.
