Service Centers In New England
cduluk replied to Xarnette15's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Oh they'll do it, they can do anything Lexus can do as long as it doesn't require Lexus' warranty. I had my Rx300's transmission flushed at a toyota dealership. I actually found the Toyota dealer to be nicer than the Lexus dealer, both in service and the way i was treated. This toyota dealer even had FOOD, like breakfast food!!! My lexus dealer only has coffee and bags of chips etc... Toyota services are cheaper too... <_< -
I'm not totally sure how it works on the LS, but i'll take a guess. Remove the back cover by rotating it counter-clockwise until it stops, then pull it off (maybe with a little help from a screwdriver to pry it off). Then, you'll be able to see the holder on the base of the bulb. Rotate the metal holder clockwise and pull off. Then you'll notice two metal wires holding the bulb on. Push both inwards, and pull out. Then the bulb will be free. What bulbs are you replacing them with? The best 6000k bulbs are the philips ultinon- best intensity and reliability out of all the 6000k's.

Hey guys. I've recently noticed an unsightly scratch on my front windshield, most likely caused by a little pebble caught on the wiper... It's about 6" long starting from the lower wiper area, curving upwards towards the center of the windshield. It's really noticeable at night with the glare from headlights, and i can feel it with my fingernail :( Do you think it can be polished out? Maybe not all the way, but at least so it's better than it is now? I did a little research and it seems there are polishes for this purpose, but i'm weary it might damage the factory "film" lexus puts on their glass to repel water or whatever. I'm thinking that in polishing, it might remove this protective film and make matters worse... What are your opinions? Do you guys think polishing would remove the film? Does this film even exist, or is it just a myth? Even if it could be done, i wouldn't do it myself. I do have some polishing experience but i'd rather leave it to an expert considering it's a $1500 windshield. And i definitely don't want to have an aftermarket windshield installed... But i feel like if i asked a windshield repair shop what to do, they'd tell me it's impossible in hopes that i'd buy another windshield, so i figured i'd ask here first :) Thanks!

You have to drive the car for an excessive amount of time before you'd get a warning light. If your trip is less than an hour or so in Drive, the computer doesn't tell the light to go on yet. You'd have to be driving in DRIVE for over an hour or so for the computer to register and turn the warning on. <_<

what do you mean not working correctly? Do you mean as in lighting? Or needle positions? Are you sure the cluster wasn't tampered with at all?

Service Centers In New England
cduluk replied to Xarnette15's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
Whatever you do, stay AWAY from lexus of Westport. I had taken my previous car there for a service once and was very dissatisfied. They were rude and very difficult... Can you try some Toyota Dealers? -
Could this plastic coating be some sort of clear bra product? Or does it seem to be the paint's clearcoat flaking off? And i wouldn't bother having advanced auto parts maxing any paint... it takes even a body shop pro several tries to match paint correctly for used cars <_<

LG03 is an interior console/and or leather color code, is that the color you're after? Or are you interested in the black trim code? If so, Krylon flat back is a good match and easy to work with...

Rx330 - Lights Not Working On Shifting Console
cduluk replied to dsandife's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
So only the lights on the shifter panel? What about the lights for the heated seats and headlight washer? What about the radio and AC buttons? These are all on the same circuit- so if the issue is only with the shifter lights, it's most likely the bulb that's maybe loose or burning out. If it's all three areas, then it's a bigger issue... -
I guess for my next set of tires i can opt for more of "snow" tire- not a hardcore snow tire, just something a little more aggressive without sacrificing that Lexus-feel ride... My winter tires are fairly new, i'd hate to replace them just yet. Maybe next year...

I'm not sure :( You could give it a try...

Which XM radio? I think the solution will be based on the size and shape etc...

Very easy to do, all you need is a flat-head screwdriver :) First, sit in the driver's seat. Pull the center console (between the front seats) in the back-most position to give you some elbow room. Put the car in ACCESSORY, put your foot on the brake, and move the shifter to L (or B on the rx400h) so it's out of your way. But make sure to keep your foot on the brake the entire time so the car doesn't roll away on you :P With the flathead screwdriver, insert it under the wood sifter surround piece, press in an inch or two, and pry upwards. It's held on with 4 clips (two on each side) so all you need to do is pry. Just make sure not to crack the wood or anything... Then lift the piece off. To remove the wood switch panel, (held in by two clips, one left and one right) reach your fingers underneath at the left side first, and pry outwards. As soon as you've got it out, do the same on the right side. At this point, the panel is free. You can pull the panel outwards and gain access to the back of the switches! I did a little custom work on mine (adding radar and laser switches next to the headlight washer) so just ignore it... And to re-install, just push the switch panel back into place (listen for the clicks as the clips connect), and do the same for the shifter surround piece. Good luck! :)

How do they know the leak is in the gas tank cover? It could be anywhere... Don't they have some type of smoke machine to test for leaks?

07 350rx - Omg - White Dust!
cduluk replied to MBman's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
That's awesome! I'm glad everything was done properly- my biggest worry is that if i have it done, they'll scratch everything up... Did they tell you if they replaced the part with another OEM one (that could fail in the future) or if they put in a newer generation part that won't fail? I do know they had to get the whole deal approved by Lexus Hdqs. I believe it is the new part that had been redesigned Oh really!? Can you confirm it's a newly designed part for me? :D -
You too :) You can also try your local craigslist ads and maybe ebay too... If those fail, try: http://www.car-part.com/ There, you can find any part for any vehicle from salvage yards anywhere in the US and in your local area. Pretty cool!

I think that's the biggest question... For myself, i don't think it would be worth installing winter tires and having to hear the extra road noise, just to "possibly" help the Rx400h get me up a hill the once or twice a year i have to drive in it :o Even if i did have snow tires, it still wouldn't be eliminating the actual problem being that the car cuts power to the wheels if it detects any slippage... There's gotta be a shortcut to solve the root of the problem rather than the symptoms...

Hey guys! I just found out today (yeah, where have i been??) that Lexus has made some changes to the 07-09 ES350 for 2010. I really like what they've done to it! Nothing too drastic, just some subtle modifications and tweaks which i think give the ES a more luxurious feel. Starting with the interior. I remember when the 07 ES350 first came out, i thought the interior lacked that "luxurious" feel, it just looked BLAH to me... Here's the 07-09 ES350 interior: And here's the 2010 Es350 interior: They've replaced the dull gray color of the center console with more of a "silver" shade, which really makes it stand out better. They've also replaced the dark gray steering wheel controls with a silver plate with nice chrome trim, which REALLY makes it look cool. They've added more wood to the center console under the nav screen with the gold "LEXUS" embossed under the clear, another nice subtle addition. Added a wood and chrome strip above the glovebox, and chrome trim around the AC vents and center controls. The gauge cluster is still the non-optitron type (without the tinted face for that sharp white/black look) but still elegant... It's these little additions that really make the difference in a Lexus' interior. I thought the previous years interior was lacking the luxurious feel, but i think the 2010 additions are a great improvement. And for the exterior, the front-end received a little "face lift" to make the stance a little more aggressive. And the rear taillights were modified a bit with sharper lines for that more exotic look. They've also added the little shark-fin antenna on the roof which really gives it that modern sport-look. Here's the 07-09 ES350: And here's the 2010 Es350: I really like these improvements for the 2010 ES :D I still don't think the quality of interior materials is where it should be, but it for sure looks nice!

All Weather Floor Mats To Be Re-released
cduluk replied to jobyfreddel's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
Apparently this is true for all Lexus models. I tried to order a set of the all-weather mats for my RX, and they told me they're no longer selling the design and that i'd have to wait for the new ones to come out... -
'07 Es350: On-dash Fresh Air/recirculate Button Wont Stay
cduluk replied to Larry_A's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
If you set the button to "recirculate inside air", after a few minutes it might mysteriously switch back to "outside air". It's so annoying! Apparently there's something called a "smog sensor" in the system that thinks it knows how fresh the outside air is. If it senses the outside air is clean, it will switch the settings to "outside air". If you keep switching it back to "recirculate inside air", i think the computer gets the hint and won't switch it for you anymore... At least that's what i've noticed in my Rx400h and Rx300. Also, if you hit the AUTO button, it resets everything, and you'll have to go a few more days having to correct the system every time, until it learns you don't like it <_< -
Have you checked the dimmer knob on the left of the steering column? You've gotta turn it to the right past the "click". Anything to the left of the "click" will put you in night mode. That's my guess...

Can you take some pictures for us? Still not sure which piece you're talking about. Do you mean the brushed aluminum rectangle around the shifter? I'm pretty sure that material is aluminum. I didn't think water could oxidize aluminum, so maybe it's another material? Maybe someone took off the protective finish off of the metal with some cleaners leaving it open to oxidation? If you show us some pics maybe that'll help <_<

How To Replace Front Light Bulb On 2001 Lx470
cduluk replied to Veziroglu's topic in 98 - 07 Lexus LX470
Look under the hood and see if you can reach your hand behind the headlight to gain access to the bulb. If not, you might need to remove some components to get to it... -
the glass moonroof "blew up"? Do you mean shattered? Or just has a hole in it? Like a bullet hole?
