  1. I just back from vacatiom, that's why I'm answering so late. Ilya, your sway bar bushings are bad 99%. Very common problem for ES and I replaced them succefuly many times - noise went away. Very easy and cheap.
  2. Yes, I got mine uncuted on Ebay too and I gave to Locksmith, they cutted for about $30.
  3. I have L/F door lock actuator from 94 ES it'll fit to 95. E-mail me if you need it: borya02@hotmail.com
  4. That prise - $75 is just for drive belts replacement (p/s pump,a/c compresor and alternator belts). For timing belt is gonna be $200-400 depense on shop rate.
  5. Harrier, one of your drivebelts loose. You have to check tension and tight them up before replace them.
  6. But you'll need coil spring compressor to do it yourself - you can not do it without proper tools. Before you start to do it find somebody who has compressor.
  7. drilled it out? He must remove head to do that, so it's really cheap
  8. My manual says it's programmable (like many more other tricks with locks, windows and sunroof) and "see dealer for details" My dealer wouldn't move theirs a$$ without $$$ :chairshot: It would be nice to find instructions somewhere
  9. If you have that noise while car parked and turning the wheel, so strut mounts are bad.
  10. I replaced my struts about 4K mi ago using old mounts and so far so good - no any noise, are you sure mounts are bad? Check sway bar links and bushings - they could make noise often. And how soon it starts to make noise after you installed new shocks? I'm asking because if you didn't put strutrod properly into the mount(only one position) it could look tight when you assembled the strut but it gonna get loose after driving couple of days and make a terrible noise.
  11. Hey, boostd! That's a GREAT price(too good to be true?). Anyway, my 94 ES has 204K mi and I'm happy with it. However, tranny dead at 196K( got used one for $1K and replaced by myself). Another major thing was 2 years ago - AC. And be aware of engine sludge - a lot info in this club. Make sure oil is clean and no smoke from exhaust. Service records would be great - regular oil changes most important thing!!! And don't worry about timing belt - if you done it on Honda, you'll do it on V6 Toyota - it's MUCH MORE easier! Especially compare to Accord that has 2 belts <_< I would say it's even easier than 4cyl Toyota - very simple marks and no hardtime to match them together - belt just jumps to the right place! So ES is very nice car and easy to work on it, just make sure engine is good because price is too low... Good luck
  12. Hey, blake! Could you tell us where we can get the Leatherique? I guess I need something like this for my seats too B) Thanks.
  13. I have 99 RX 4WD with 83K. The tranny works fine, but couple of weeks ago my wife couldn't put it to reverce :( The shifter moves properly and it felt like R is on, but car didn't move! She was parked front to the wall, so she couldn't check if D works. So I told her(over the phone) to put into N and ask her co-workers to push the car back ( Lexus RX300 - push? ) She did that, but 3 people were pushing the car, it didn't even move!(parking brake was off, of course). It felt like transmission in the Park position! I couldn't come there that evening, so she left the car in the lot and her co-worker gave her ride home I came there next morning (I thought is shifter cable broken), but when I put it to R, RPMs went down a little bit, so gear is on, but car didn't move! I accelerated more (about 3500 RPM) and car JUMPED backward! Since then everything works perfect, but I'm affraid I'll need new tranny soon :cries: Have someone seen something like this???
  14. 92-96 ES doesn't have a woofer, 97+ has. You can't install the woofer from 97 to 94 - it wouldn't fit. All what you can do play with aftermarket stuff, but I don't think you'll get better sound then Lexus.
  15. My local dealer (Lexus of Rockville) charge $99 per hour :( Try to drop car off just for oil change for a first time and you'll see what you get as a loaner. My usually gives recent IS ;)
  16. Yes, you can't live with R12 in future if you want to keep this car for a few more years. I don't know situation in Canada but in my area they used to sell R12 last summer, but I couldn't find it in parts stores this year! They trying to kick out R12 from the market because it damages ozone sphere. Some shops still sell R12 but for extremelly high price - about $100 for can! So, in case if you have a leak in AC system, is gonna be a problem to feel it up! Anyway I wouldn't suggest you "just swith" if your AC blows cold - put thermometer in the dash air outlet if it from 40 to 60F - you fine, still anough freon in the system, but if its warmer - mos likely you have a leak. Good luck!
  17. Anyway, I would move my tie rods only while the car sitting on alignment rack with sensors on the wheels B) If they created mashine like this, why should I trust my eyes? I'll let laser take care of it! Didn't mean to heart anybody and of course not arguing, just trying to give right information to our people, because everybody learns something new every day, same as I do. ES99, you just need an alignment, it gonna fix your steering wheel problem
  18. Could you explain what does "opposite directions" means? There are only two directions - in or out, so you can extend or shorten the tie rod (and change toe by doing this). Some common type steering systems had special sleeves designed to straight steering wheel w/o changing toe, but rack-and-pinion systems don't have them, so once you move tie rod end you gonna change toe :)
  19. amf, moving tie rod ends in or out DOES affect the alignment AND steering wheel center position. That's basically how you do alignment - by moving tie rods you adjust toe in or out. Improper front toe can cause pulling, tire wearing and out of center steering wheel. :chairshot:
  20. Actually I didn't worry about how to take it out because it cracked already So I just pry it out by flat screwdriver (put some rag between screwdriver and painted mirror housing to prevent scracth paint). Don't affraid to brake mirror glass when you take it out - it's broken anyway, just be careful when you'll install new one - it has like 4 clips around back side, so make sure all of them got in B)
  21. i got mine from local dealer as I said (Lexus of Rockville) it cost me $45 (wholesale price) and it tooks me 5 minutes to install - old one just pops out when you pry it gently, and new one snaps on plastic clips.Just don't forget to connect 2 little wires on the back of new mirror panel - it's a heat ;) Call your dealer and tell them what you need - they should have it. If not - let me know, I'll get you part# from mine. Good luck!
  22. Exuse me, but I replased my drivers outer mirror (just a glass) got it from local Lexus dealer for about $45 and it's heated! Is there some misunderstanding? Because I know how you expireinced, SK! And I have 94 ES
