I wasn't hoping that much for mpg, but mainly HP. I would also add a set of Vitek wires. Which reminds me has anyone heard about the Nology Hot wires. Don't worry I don't plan on spending $400 :o for them though. I mainly just want a little more zip, not a full blown (2 ton) sports car.

Has anyone tryed out the pulstar sparkplugs. I have seen quite a few tests and i am mildly empressed. First hand experience would be nice. I am debating weather or not they are worth $25 each. I also want to run a NGK wire set. I am hoping for mild performance increase and slitly better MPG. Any input is appreictiated.

I was getting 8-10MPG, but I replace the coolent temp. sensor and it got much better. I also have smoke on start up, but it hasn't bothered me enough to do anything about it yet. I also agree with IS400. Check the codes before you do anything else.

thanks eatingupblacktop that is a lot of helpful info. I'll let you guys know what the fix is.

I was taking my 93 through the local carwash and when the giant fans hit it, foam started leaking in through the sunroof. What should i do to fix this? I have takin my car through the was before and never had a problem. Now I'm woried so I havn't washed my car for over a month and a half. Thank goodness it dosn't show too much dirt. Is it just a seal that I need to replace or is it something bigger? any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

My 93 was vibrating and sputtering but all was fixed after the plugs and wires were replaced.
Hope that helps. :)

I believe it's 2" in and out, but i could be mistaken. I have wanted to put a pair of cherry bomb mufflers on my 93, but i havn't had the time. Let us know of your results.

I apologize, no excuses for my rudeness, just that i had logged after a bad day. I agree with jcrome, there is no need to guess whats wrong if you have a cel on. If you don't want to pull the codes yourself, take it to a local shop. Sorry, I ment no offince :)

You want advice? Then take the time to read through the forum and SPELL. Try pulling the engine codes, here is how to do it: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html

thanks for the info. I was hopeful, however I do like the idea of a turbo SC300. thanks again.

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap the automatic LS trans out for a manual on off an SC400. THey have the same engine so I'm thinking it would fit. I have always wanted a stick-shift LS400, and I have seen a few SC400 being parted out on my local craigs list. Has anyone done this or attempted to try this? What all would be affected by the swap and do you think it could be done? By the way I have a 93 LS w/ 180K miles. Any thoughts would be great?

My dad's 98 camrey had that same sound and, after lots of wasted time, was cured by replacing the CV boots.

I need to repqair my trunk harness, but this link is dead. Is there a diffrent one.

Now I am looking for another used LS400 and hoping to get something for around $6k. I recently looked at a 91 with 118k miles
for $4500 but decided to pass(too rusty). For $6k, I am limited to the early years and thats OK. I just cant stand rust.
So, any advice on where to get a nice, well-maintained, rust-free LS in this price range? or impossible?
And for early years, which one is the best?
Ebay is interesting but I will not buy a car sight unseen (pictures dont work...too easily to hide defects).
I have found my 93 LS with 179k on craigslist for $4k. It's absolutly rust free. I have baught/sold 5 cars on there last summer and have had no problems finding what i want. best of luck to you.
I don't want to offend anyone but I would avoid LS400s before the 1995 model year if only to avoid the pathetic headlights on the 90-94. You should be able to find a decent 95 LS near or below your $6,000 target. The 95-97 LS400 is so much nicer and roomier than the 90-94.I see nice, older LS400s every day around the Kansas City metro. I can hardly drive the two miles to the grocery store here in Lenexa, Kansas without seeing at least one.
I agree with 1990Ls. You should try to go for 95-97 if possible, as the are much more amazing. However I have never had any problems with my 93 and I love it to death. The braking has always been fine and I think you should'nt have any problems finding a good 93 or 94 for under $6k.
P.S. 1990LS400, do you go to the Hen-House on 135th and Black bob (I love that place).

I live in Overland Park, KS. we should take a road trip

my 93 has the trac light on all the time but it causes no problems and is just annoying. I say leave, but thats just my two cents worth.

I was next to a Genesis this morning on my way in, my first look at it. And honestly, there is still something "missing" about it, as with all of Hyundi cars. I can't describe what it isI think it's a nice looking car. but like NC said....something's off.I agree with Hyundai being a little off.
Something is off. It's QUALITY, or lack there of. In 10 years the LS460's will be running strong, but the Hyundi Genesis' will be needing all sorts of new parts and services. Cheap to buy and expensive to keep. Thats how Hyundi has been and will be. they are two year cars, and you get what you pay for.

thx for the info. I plan on sticking to toyota trans. fluid, but what are those reasons?

anyone know of a kit for a 93 LS400. Is piecing one together my own system a good option and how should i go about doing it.
THX.

I was wondering what the concequences, if any, would be if I used AMSoil or royal purple tans fluid insted of the toyota stuff. I always hear "Make sure and use toyota type IV", but it seems like another quality trans fluid will do the same or better job. So whats the big diffrence?

My 93 LS with 180k is puffing out smoke when its cold and idling. there is also a gasous smell coming out of the exhaust. when i rev it a little bit the smoke will stop for about 10 seconds and then return. After driving for a block or two I'm good to go. Is that normal? any ideas? Thx.

where is this fuse? i have the same problem, but can't find the fuse on the car... nothing named 'trac'
the big black box on the right side of the engine bay, at least for my 93 it is.
