  1. I agree with SW03 here. If you have never used either before, get the PC. The Rotary is faster, easier etc ONCE you know what you are doing. If not, you could have major issues with your paint. Love my makita but you need to learn to walk, then run. Not being mean but it would be like buying a new motorcycle even before you ride.
  2. I agree. Get a 32 oz bottle to try. anyone will like it.
  3. Yea, it sucks on a new car. The last thing you want to do is mess with it. At least it is not forever. But you could fix it by hand (hard) or machine (easy). Based on the pics, he is no expert. Hell, I have not done that since my first year on my makita rotary. I will say this, Lexas has soft paint compaired to Porsche for example.
  4. I would just use a polish, since it will do the samething as Dawn. It is not a big deal really.
  5. bingo. Looks like either pads (foam or wool) where dirty, poor user/operator or poor prep.
  6. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=32480 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=35514 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=34951 added note: Since SW showed me QEW, I went with ONR though. Now I still love JW since it goes a long way, easy to use and durability is over 6 months. CG5050 I like since it again adds a little "nuba" shown. I have gone so far as 3+ month with it and looks nice. I tried Zaino clearshield (CS) and so far I like it. I think JW with quickshine will do the samething;but doing "nothing" helps alot with CS. If you like something else, that is all that matters. I tried Nattys blue and it did not hold up well etc. Nice wax for the money, but I like CG better.
  7. Problem is go over read salt/sand. It will marr and I do not even use it. Just like a Dr-wash commerical. #2 is the car you have posted is nice but looking at the picture, it is lacking bigtime in wetness, gloss, depth, etc. Looks dull in my eyes but that is me. I have been on autipia for years. Not many use Freedome spray. If you like it great. I will take ONR, JW prime and AJT combined with CG5050 wax. Looks much better in the end result; and cheaper too.
  8. if higher gas prices "break your bank", as I stated years ago, you are major issues. yes gas has gone up and so has everything else. For me my health benefits are 4X as much. Paying for everyone else! Problem is again gas prices is at the bottom of the list. Doubling $1.25 gas is nothing when my insurance was $800 per year (4X now). Does it effect the overall business of the USA yup, but people keep buying it. People spend less in other places to still keep the same life style. Problem is people every year whine and $$%^# and want court dates for oil corps. It is the same outcome or people forget. It is an endless battle and nothing is the outcome. It is like getting all upset about my house taxes that are over 2X in 4 years. That is life.In the great % increases gas might be the highest but the least in your wallet effect. Diesel was cheaper for years now all the diesel owners whine. You had it good for years. Diesel was over $2 per gallon in 2002; it is still only 2.89. Not bad.
  9. Why do people whine about gas? It is amazing. Not one forces us to buy it. Do not like it, do not buy it. Gas prices around here where MORE 2 years ago. In fact they where about $0.30 more then now ($2.66). I see more SUVs on the road now more then ever. People whine but keep buying the 12 to 15 MPG trucks suv's. If you can afford the $50K car, you can afford the gas. If not, you bought poorly and poor you. Opec gets rich, yup. So do oil companies and how does that differ from software cops, defense cops etc? Problem is you only see the oil prices and not the other areas. You whine about pennies at the pump. I worry about things like house insurance, health care for the family, housing prices etc. In the great price of life, my gas bill (for my car/home) is nothing and could careless. The only way this country would get better and more "enviro friendly" is hike the price up....I say DO IT! It is like war. The best ideas / inventions come out of it.
  10. I love the "gently rub in" or the price...thanks but nope.
  11. Well having used Dri-wash since the early 1990s and ever then newer ion stuff (for 2002 I think and newer paints), yes it work (somewhat) HOWEVER , you WILL get a better shine & slickness from ONR. Also you will, again WILL marr the paint. I have used it for too long to see it. Personally have used it for over 10 years, I would never used it again. There are better products are the market. If someone likes it have at it, I will take ONR and JW, CG and Clearkote products over dri-wash anyday. AS much as I like ONR etc, I much disgree they are the future. Most people shop at "china mar"t etc and, for example, most people are not going to pay $35 to $40 for a gallon of ONR. Not gonna happen. Let alone people wash there car. It will take a major price reduction to get more people to but them, I feel.
  12. Well, Now that the oil question has been answered, I suggest this thread be closed. This forum does not need another oil thread.:chairshot: are you chicken!?? LOL
  13. check belt tention
  14. I still use PB natural stuff; but, I do love Optimum products. I have 32 oz to use! For leather, I still like CG (chemical guys) cleaner and "lube". I have 2 gallons of it... :D :D :D Oh, Optimum is coming out with a new sealant soon...
  15. It is called a piller. Like SK stated you could paint it, but I think spending the $36 (I think) is better worth the time, effoct, better looks etc. This part is known for this defect, per say.
  16. Depends. If you are going "blind" 5 to 6,000 miles is a avg guess; however, I would pull a UOA (oil test). 10 to 1 you can go longer if you see what you have. Pull a few tests then you do not need to test anymore. I know I could not test anymore in my ES and while using Amsoil, I would go 10 to 11,000 miles no issues.
  17. http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-product...=autopolish.net
  18. depends. In my area Toyota and Lexus are the same prices no matter what.
  19. As I have stated for about 5 years now, "oil glazzed" filters are not worth the time and money. oil too much and sensor will get killed (been there done that on a diesel). Oil it too little and you WILL have elevated engine wear; as shown in UOA. Save you money and run paper
  20. Well the PCV is a pain at time. Grab some pliers and pull straight. The grommet is more then likely gone and will break when removing. Pull all the broken stuff out too. Mine always brake and need to buy another. I also put some lube on the new PCV and it goes right in :) Also clean the IVAC AND the EGR (if you can). Also clean the TB too. I dislike K&N filters since they gum things up down the road. I had to many issues with "oil glazed" in the past. It is hard to oil them right (in cars). Either it is not enough and your Si levels go through the roof in UOA or you oil too much and kill sensors. For gas adds I like, Lucas UCL, Fp60 or Neutra 131. For engine smoothness Lucas takes it and 131 is close. 131 will clean more but cost more to buy and a pain to get. I have 4 gallons since I love the stuff! Redline is good too from what I have read. I have used Amsoil PI but my lead levels where again through the roof using it. So I stopped. Oh, and welcome to LOC!!!! :):)
  21. I do mine every 2 years or 30-40,000 miles. I use Amsoil ATF. I say the fluid, if you never changed it is shot. I would change it since it will clean better.
  22. They have them on amazon.com, but it says that it's for a post-1996 vehicle. Are you sure it will work properly on a 1995 ES300 V6 engine? Thanks. good one since I thought OBD2 was 1996 and newer.
  23. I just put HAWK pads on my wife’s car (non lexus). Got for $50 to my door on another site. I do not know about front/rear since most times they are different. Yes the pads are sold as sets.
  24. Use ONR and I think you might be rubbing to hard with the soap and mitts or MF towels. Let the items weights do the work. I use (1) OZ ONR and the two bucket method sometimes and sometimes not. Either way, comes out mint. I use (1) WW towel and mitt for car and another set for tires. Some pics of my car with ONR etc. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=34951 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=35514
