  1. I wonder if a faulty memory setting switch could interfere with the retract function. Try this: Disconnect battery ground for 60 seconds, re-attach, then test the manual retract button several times. If all is well, then re-set your mem. settings. Then re-test manually. If it does not work this time, there may be a mem. switch problem.
  2. Congrats Lash. And it will just keep going, and going, and... well. You know. With proper care that is. 11 years for me. Same car. Runs like a top. I've driven virtually new cars that feel like a toy and cheap by comparison. Why sell? There little new technology that I can't live without, or room for refinement with the LS. Darn near perfect out of the box. Enjoy!
  3. MP Have you checked your messages? I have given you his direct contact info. Let us know if he can pinpoint it for you. He's probabbly busy with his show now, but maybe by tuesday...
  4. bali, could you expound on this a bit? what is the connection?
  5. That my friend is a classic hit and run. You will probably need to have a po po report on file in order for the ins. co. to even consider stepping up. If you haven't already, make the report. At least you can describe the vehicle and the driver. Make sure to dust the bumper and collect any paint debris the *BLEEP* may have left on your bumper. Take Pics. Sorry to hear it.
  6. Have you tried the diagnostic as suggested? It may not work with your vehicle, but worth a shot. If not, take it to autozone, and have them pull codes. Should be free. It may well be the blower motor transistor. This is a diagram for a 1st gen ls, but you get the idea http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&id=9738 "In the parts breakdown picture provided above the power transistor might be represented by part # 88630A" (thanks WWEST) "Your '92 LS400 uses a transistor for controlling all(***) speeds by full HIGH speed, in that case a relay is used to bypass the even the small level of voltage the transistor would drop. With only 12 volts every little bit counts. Your solid state blower speed control has failed or actually more likely only the final power transistor itself. "You" can manually only select three blower speeds, the solid state blower speed controller can set ~256 speeds." (thanks WWEST) http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...motor++resistor
  7. There are a couple of fairly major inaccuracies with big Al's slideshow. Er, well, 9. Um....actually 35. At what point does it then qualify as fiction (as presented)? "Al Gore’s award-winning climate change documentary was littered with nine inconvenient untruths, a judge ruled yesterday. An Inconvenient Truth won plaudits from the environmental lobby and an Oscar from the film industry but was found wanting when it was scrutinised in the High Court in London." http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/busi...icle2633838.ece "A spokesman for Al Gore has issued a questionable response to the news that in October 2007 the High Court in London had identified nine “errors” in his movie An Inconvenient Truth. The judge had stated that, if the UK Government had not agreed to send to every secondary school in England a corrected guidance note making clear the mainstream scientific position on these nine “errors”, he would have made a finding that the Government’s distribution of the film and the first draft of the guidance note earlier in 2007 to all English secondary schools had been an unlawful contravention of an Act of Parliament prohibiting the political indoctrination of children. " Actually there are way more errors. The court was being kind, and maybe a bit PC. Read them here: http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/monckton/goreerrors.html Or you can download the pdf file here http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/images/s...gore-errors.pdf So, the high court in England sort of disagrees that his slideshow is accurate, and ruled it should not be taught as proven scientific fact to school children there. Plenty of scientists not on the BIGGOV grant list / dole agree as well. If it were written as a scientific paper as opposed to entertainment meant for public consumption, it would never even get to the point of peer review. Taken in context with his "carbon credit" company GIM, with which he stands to make quite a bit of money if this AGW stuff catches on, and the fact that he in effect 'buys' 'carbon credits' from himself from his own company... well, you get the idea. Ask yourself this: Why are the polar caps on Mars melting? And evidence of freestanding water there? Supposed to all be frozen wasteland. Could it be Sun cycles? The Martian atmosphere is 90% carbon dioxide--shouldn't it be much, much hotter than it is according to the GW hypothesis (not theory--as it does not meet the definition of theory)? The simple fact that co2 in paleolithic times has been 10 times and more than what it is now, with out 'warming' sort of blows the hypothesis apart (no co2 emissions dontcha know). As a side note, Hansen at nasa (not The Muppets ;) ) was the same guy who was screaming there would be an ice age by now, back in the 70's, and quite a bit has been found wrong with his data intrepretation, compilation methods, and even his al-gorithms. His "science could not be trusted then. It cannot be trusted now. Check out Steve McIntyre who actually made him change his faulty "warming biased" calculations, and pronouncements here: http://www.climateaudit.org/?p=1821 When global alrmism is founded on "science" like this http://gallery.surfacestations.org/main.php?g2_itemId=837, then it's validity must be questioned. http://surfacestations.org/ Alarmism is nothing new. Follow the money.
  8. Here is his question/ response: What is the amplitude of the cam sensor signals during an event? I'm sure he's closing up for the weekend, so post back quick.
  9. What is the output of the alternator? May only be working intermittantly. Have it tested.
  10. Good catch there mikey. My oops. Disregard. Altho he can, I'm sure try it without any ill effects. Otherwise don't autozone or others do a quick and free scan ?
  11. Did they wash the engine? If so, they did not cover the alternator. Hope it's not damaged. If there is water/soap/grease where it doesn't belong, sure, you could very well have all sorts of issues like that. Suggestion. Drive it at speed as long as you can to dry it out. When you get home, open the hood. Let it sit and cool down. Wait il it is pitch black out tonight. Start her up. It may be 'fixed' at this point. If not, look for arcing or sparking on or near alternator, plug wires, plugs, and distributors. Do not use a flashlight, it will ruin your 'night vision'. If you see arcing at the alternator, I'd go talk to the owner.
  12. I have copied your problem to a well regarded industry expert. Don't know how much of a diagnosis he can do over the internet, but I hope to hear back in a day or two. Will post the reply, if he gets back to me.
  13. Do you have any other electrical problems? When did this start? There is a known design flaw that MIGHT cause your problem: the notorious trunk hinge wiring harness. The shorting that occurs there will cause these symptoms, and probably others as well: balking, wild rpms, uneven idle, bucking while driving, loss of dash lights, radio shut down when applying the brakes, draining the battery, etc. The great thing is, it's a snap to fix. Just strip off harness and expose the bundle, re-tape, and let the whole mess hang free so that there is little/no tension on the bundle. Also, you can try an ac diagnostic here: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?showtopic=3794
  14. Not familiar with your setup, but try taking the filter cover off and turn on the blower for a second or two with your hand over the hole. That should give you a pretty good idea of the direction of flow.
  15. Yep. Scary stuff. Lorena Bobbit ring a bell? You definitely don't want to be "Bobbited" while snoozing. That name is is indelibly etched in my memory. And don't think she ain't looking when a Brad Pitt walks by. She's just way more subtle about it.
