  1. Is it just me or has Lexus still has not figured out how to make a attractive butt on those new cars ? I just don't like the rear ends on those things... Geo
  2. OK, taking the 2001 ES300 to the Dealer for its maintance check. It is a Certified vehicle and the vehicle is in perfect condition. What things will they do ? What should I look out for ? How much for a basic check ? Should I request Synthetic oil on this change ? Ideas ? Suggestions ? Thanks, George
  3. Two whole days of good weather ? is that summer ? :D Very nice job. The whole cute niece on the scooter so close to the car made me a little nervous ! George
  4. So... who is the better and more experienced driver ? :P In my experience you can be the best driver in the world and then some a-hole comes out of nowhere and totals you. Chit happens. Geo
  5. Please excuse my ignorance but if the doors/manual says 33 why go higher ? I mean my experience with overinflating tires is that the radial bands inside tear faster shortening the life of the tire. Geo
  6. I have been getting a Japanese language package download request evey time I come over here. You know, as if this is a Japanese website. No real problem, just curious as to why. Geo
  7. Congrats on the car. Glad you can afford a nice car for the wife. If it would have been me and the bad luck of the wife I would have gotten her a Corolla. :cries: Also someone mentioned ES having only wood steering wheels ? My 01 does not, are you talking of the newer stuff ? Later, George
  8. Sorry I forgot... 2001 ES. George
  9. Curious if there are little things that bother you in your near perfect Lex ? For me its a airduct thing that is in the way on the right side where the feet are. It bumps into my right foot everytime I switch from the break to the accelerator. It almost feels that it is "catching" my foot at times. I'm 5'11" and the seat is adjusted right. I also don't have giant feet (size 10 1/2). Just interested in little things that bother you out there. Later, George
  10. Not good in snow and heavy rain ?... Glad to be in sunny California Beautiful sunny 78 degrees in Sac today. How is it in Toronto ? B) George
  11. I got the Bridgestone Potenzas RE92 on my 2001 and like them. Why all the speed rating concern when most won't drive over 85 miles per hour anyway ? George
  12. Thanks Steve. Any more advise out there ? Thanks, George
  13. Jesus ! This bird poo is like some sort of chemical/bio-hazard attack !! Pretty soon I'll have to learn chemistry just to keep the car clean !! George
  14. Well, I don't know what these birds in Sac-town have been eating but I removed the chit almost as soon as it fell and it still left a mark. Sacramento is know as Tree City so I guess instead of looking for shade I'll be in the open. Black car in summer, mmm nice ! Damn birds. George
  15. And remember you have to use #1-98 in the right order or else you ruin the finish of the car. George
  16. Bet you have not seen this come up B) **************************** Weird problem... Not driving enough ? We maybe put 100 miles a month in our Lexus. You know, work, church and shopping. We are lucky that work/church and shopping is only 2 miles from home. Question, is it "bad" not to drive a vehicle. I mean, I understand that the engine and all parts need to move to get all their "juices". What is too few miles ? Maybe this can be the excuse I can get to drive it around more ;-). **************************** Next... Dealer Maintanance ? We bought this 2001, ES 300 Lex as a Certified vehicle at like 44,900 miles. Great car we love it. OK, now we have to take it in for its 45,000 miles. We are only at 46,000 miles. I have no problem taking it in but should the Certification process have taken care of most of the major things that I should be concerned with at the 45,000 check ? Basicaly, what things should I really be looking into ? Don't want a bunch a stuff pushed that might be true for a car that has been driven a lot. Everything runs smooth as silk. Thanks, George
  17. I have a black ES 300 (01). Like most who have dark cars I have a love/hate relationship with it. My latest "emergency" question is why does bird chit stain ?. This last week a bird poo'ed on it. I quickly cleaned it with a little warm water but there still is a "stain". A little "mark" where the chit was. The car has wax, whats up ?! Any suggestions on how to remove the poo stain. George
  18. Is this not one of those BS or unnecessary things that we are sold ? Are improvement that great ? Can the really be scientifically shown ? Not trying to put anything/anyone down but you would think the car manufacturers would already have these things in their cars. JMHO, Geo
  19. Awesome ! Thanks for the response. In my case it is waterspots on a black paint surface. George
  20. Have slight water spots on my black 01 ES300. What is the vinegar wash mix ? Any other solutions ? Any suggestions, advise ? Thanks, George
  21. "Kind of like Geo" He, he, he, good one. At least I never licked dog pee... TWICE !! BARF !! B) Geo
  22. I knew it looked kind of dopey after I posted. Thanks, George
  23. OK, I have a black 01 ES 300. Got it about 6 months ago. It came detailed from the Lexus dealer and has been garaged and "dry mopped" often. This car is very clean. Winter is fast approaching and I want to give it a good cleaning/waxing before the rain. Question, after washing it and drying it with the right stuff what do you guys suggest for a detailing job. Again the car is very clean other than a few micro scratches and old water spot marks. I have read the guides but would like you guys to give me your advise. Give me a "routine"/waxs or polishes. Stuff to cover the micro abrassions and a good protectant from the wet. Please, make it as simple as posible. No need to go crazy. Since it is a black car I'm aware that some issues my arise. Thanks.
