  1. How much did you get for the trade ? What was the milage and condition?
  2. Yes they are interchangeable for a price. You have to buy new 98-00 fenders ,hood , grille , foglights chrome strip and bumpers and then they fit like a glove with the headlights and corner lights. Otherwise you can modify Jetta aftermarket projectors such as lexcost is doing.
  3. Not too bad , looks like you can fit a much bigger filter in there and gain a few extra ponies as well. I take it you cannot use the stock engine over with the intake or the shroud ?
  4. So i am getting my car cleaned up before i install my air suspension when it finally is available. SO i take it by a tech and get him to change my tensioner and inspect the RR as i think i have a bearing worn. I ordered a new rear bearing a parking brake cable and some other parts from a friend at Toyota head office who is kind enough to help me out. Ordered parking brake shoes from ebay 6 months ago for all 4 for $20. So i go there this morning and realize i left the shoes at home. Oh well get what i can done now as it is not close to me to go home. Analysis after is The good: The tensioner is good but the bearing on the wheel is bad , so it is good i wanted to replace it to finish all the front end bearings and tensioners. The bad: The rear wheel bearing is fine and the play is coming from the rear lower knuckle bushing being disintegrated .I will probably need to buy a whole knuckle just to get that one stupid thing. Both my front upper control arms are bad , both strut rods blown after 8 months , FL bearing shot. So right now i have more play than the guys in the AXE commercials. Also all of my sway bar bushings have enough play to see through them , luckily i already ordered those over priced pieces of crap. The ugly now i have to wait for more parts to come in to fix all of this stuff and pay out through my ........ The best part my car will drive great after all this work again as it has become excessively sloppy over the past year since going to lex fest in Atlanta . Also noticed carson has a line of bushings to replace my dead ones but they are $24 each ($100 total )and i need 2 per side. Do they know what a rip off that is. I Bought my full urethane kit for my Civic for $120 and it replaced everything but my engine mount. Never mind the other bushings they have which add up to a small fortune. I will probably be replacing them if they give me a deal on buying the full set as well as the rear torsion bars they have. Also i will get new strut rods for free and an alignment as the strut rods are under warranty from the dealer. Problem is i asked them to check the car 6 months ago and they said everything was fine. Know you know why i use a new place to get work done. So hopefully by next weekend this will all be done if i get them in time. Then in 2 weeks the suspension kit will be ready from easy street and i will have my car bagged. Oh well my wife did get a new bedroom set ,to top it off she wants a new car , a GS400 of course and i will only buy one if it is in spectra blue mica. AHHHH what a headache.
  5. Not trying to be combative at all as i am no engineer by any reach of the imagination. One of my biggest reason of belief in nitro in tires is from a double engineer running maintenance for all of an American airline company. They do use it and so does he in his cars. I agree with the under inflation issue but i always check mine. While driving with air my pressure fluctuate 5-8 lbs after driving while the 2 tires on nitro do not change at all.
  6. Need to get it read at a dealer to see what code it is otherwise there is a way to make it flash the light but it involves taking wires and grounding them in sequence.
  7. The biggest problem with volume of posts on this Lexus forum is there are not enough problems ( not that i am complaining) . The threads that are around are the same usual problem issues popping up all the time . Otherwise it is some weird one that no one has ever heard of caused by some sort of damage. So it is the usual repair or a modifications that fills most of the forums . This forum is mainly based on older members with older cars and repairs. CL on the other hand is younger members looking to modify there rides.
  8. Your an engineer mkeeny ? BTW costco does it for free so what am i losing and them gaining?
  9. take out the back seat to get to the upper bolts the rest is simple.
  10. Need to get those seats and carpet out ,will will get mold and a smell from hell.
  11. If they have it it is old stock , or they never update there site to reflect actual availability and just order as needed like most website vendors.
  12. My toyo t1r and t1s have never had an issue with noise even others i know who track both of them still have the quietest tire on the road while everyone else rumbles home.
  13. Once you take a few driving courses in defensive and sport driving you would see the benefit to using the DRL's if not headlights. Overkill is not even close as it keeps my vehicle more visible on the road compared to a parked car right beside a moving vehicle. You brain registers the vehicle much fast and can associate the speed and distance better with the lights. Ever tried to recognize a car in your rear view with only 1 headlight at night.
  14. Leo no longer has anything to do with luxury mods as he sold it.
  15. Could be the seal from the engine to the tranny or the seal on the cv joint/axle. Hard to tell from the pic. Also looks like it has been worked on as it has a liquid gasket but it could be the pic.
  16. Thanks, I agree you will never "feel" the difference in a clean car but it will save you atleast 4-8 cents per tank of gas. The otehr thing i might mention is ever notice the amount of moisture sprayed out of those gas station air compressors when you press the handle . Not having so much moisture is a great reason alone to have nitrogen for me.
  17. Like i explained earlier different gasses in different concentrations will have a different sound resonance. Higher levels of Nitrogen happens to dampen it more than air. Does a tire at 50 psi not have a higher louder resonance than one at 35? You guys run your cars with larger cavity tires at lower pressures. Ever hit a under inflated tire and it thuds compared to an over inflated one and it echoes. Has anyone here commented besides me on the noise running a 20 inch wheel with 30 profile sidewalls and nitrogen or driving over 2000km on them in one trip? I run my low profiles at 50 so i do hear more sound echoing through then over imperfections on the road with air. Now if nitrogen is agreed to be more dense .And the denser an object of matter is will reduce sound waves traveling through it . Will this not cause the density to cancel or muffle out reverbed sound waves ? Why is this so hard to believe , to the point where i feel berated that it is compared to a car wash? If you can't come up with a reason why not ,then how is that disproving its existence just because you can't see its possibilities? Just to be a horses !Removed!, a clean car is faster and quieter ,remember aerodynamics and co efficient of drag? Who else believes it , every single race team in the world and just for fun the little race simulator Grand turismo. dirt = drag dirt = increased wind noise from turbulence
  18. What a worthless thread. I love DRL's and i don't even use them. I use my headlights on full all day , i want to be seen not hit.
  19. It is a very common mod, on both 1st and 2nd gens. Most remove the bad OEM Y and rear resonators but a few have also kept the resonators and extended the pipes instead.
  20. As mentioned before it has to be purged atleast twice to get a higher concentration of nitrogen other wise no difference is felt. If you had a higher concentration you would have seen no change in pressures or temperatures as i did with mine. This summer after reinstalling my tires filled with normal air once again the sound of bumps in the road echoes back through the suspension.
  21. all obd connectors are located under the steering wheel look for a removable panel .
