  1. I recently had the battery changed on my 98 GS300, the mechanic said there was a short to the headlight as the bulb was not on and after repairing the short, the lamp now works with that bulb. However, the day after, when I start the car, there is a rather loud audible alarm (beep) and the VSC, VSC OFF, BRAKE and the VBS lights are on the dash. The car operates fine, no problems that I can tell, I dont know if the brakes are working properly, keep in mind it is now 12 below and any car reacts differently. This happened before when another garage changed the battery and I took it back....I dont know what they did, I don't know if they know what they did, but it quit reacting like that. We don't have a Lexus dealer in our town, but don't know what to do now, any suggestions?
  2. I noticed just a slight delay when starting my 98 GS300, so I asked tire shop to check my batttery when they mounted my Blizzaks, they said battery was shot, so replaced with AC/Delco. I wasn't driving it much but a week later, the car doesn't start, just clicks. Jumped it, return to Tire Shop, they replaced with new one. It starts fine 4 or 5 times, just to move for snow removal, after ten days or so, then drive around the block, warm it up and shortly later, no start again, just clicks. Jump it fine and it started okay the next day....any ideas. Does this sound like alternator problem....I know nothing about mechanics, I'll take it to different mechanic, but just wanted to know your thoughts, thanks.
  3. I'm trying to find out if the head restraints are removable on drivers seat, 02 LS430....anyone know how...thanks
  4. Really like the black on black look, yes I traded the 98 in...it was in very good condition...one of the best cars I've ever owned, but was beginning to show its age...got 10600 for trade..119,000 miles on it....the new 02 is really a beautiful car, so quiet, and all the features of the Ultra....
  5. I'll try to make this short....my wife has a '05 RX and I have a '98 LS. We were driving in town last week when we both noticed a very sharp, eye catching Ruby Red ES. She really liked the color and me being always on the look for any hint that she is ready to trade for another Lexus, looked up our trade value and surprisingly noticed we had equity!, since the RX's lease is ending in November, I contacted our closest 2 dealerships, both over 2.5 hours away, looking for a Ruby Red ES. Anyway, when it came close to committing, she decided she wanted to keep the RX and pay if off after the lease ends....she really likes the RX and since it is hers, how can I argue? Bottom line, it made me think that maybe it was time for me to "UPDATE" and so I looked for a replacement for my '98....found a black on black 2002 LS Ultra with 70k miles....with chrome wheels and much, much more....I traded yesterday and have found numerous reasons to drive for anyone in the house that needs anything.....including milk, birthday parties, more milk, gas and so on.... I would probably sleep in it, but the neighbors might complain and my wife would probably think I'm weird....fabulous car, beautiful car!!, it's my 6th Lexus, 3 new and 3 used...anyway, just thought I'd share my enthusiasm!!! :)
  6. I just had Lexus of Omaha mount and balance my Blizzaks, summer tires are Touranza. I keep track of my winter miles and based on just 3500 to 4000 miles each winter, these tires should last 5 to 6 years, very soft tread, but extremely effective on snow and ice. Anyway, it probably depends on where you live, but I have no problem putting them on a little early, better to be safe than sorry.
  7. I agree, sheepskins are the answer, warm in the winter, cool in the summer and they add comfort to an already comfortable seat. I have them in my 98 LS, drivers seat only. Give 'em a try. :D
  8. I have used Griots products for the last 7 years, they sell a wide aray of products and cleaning euipment as well. They are especially known for their excellent car wax and they have a very good quick spray on wax/cleaner called Speed Shine. No matter what you need for car care, they have it. You can find their website at griotsgarage.com. I don't think you will be disappointed. ;)
  9. I probably can't add much to what's already been said, except I own both a '98 LS and a '98 GS300. My wife drives the GS and I drive the LS, seems like a contradiction but none the less, she loves her car and I love the LS. It is true the LS is quieter and more of a "floater" than the GS, but certainly you will be satisfied with either one. :D
  10. Any comments out there about wood dash kits? Do they cheapen the appearance. I have a 98 LS and have been thinking of doing something for the interior. Thanks for your opinion.
  11. I had a 2000 GS300 in Anchorage, Alaska with a set of Blizzak's, never had a problem. This is an excellent ice and snow tire, however, you don't want to run them for very long after the snow melts, these tires will wear very rapidly on dry payment....but they are probably the best on ice and snow there is! An excellent choice, you won't be disappointed.
