  1. Nice find thanks for the info
  2. ACtually a proper flush cannot be doen at home as their is a tempurate switch whish closes once the cold new fluid enter the system . The new fluid needs to be the same temp as the exiting fluid
  3. this is the wix one you said you got. I thought i would post a pic so it does look similar, i think mine is a little longer and with larger openings. But it is an internet pic. Not a bad price all considered after a currency conversion. I was glad someone foudn one as i was going to see if i could get a deal on a case so all interested could get them for about $30 shipped.
  4. no problem AJ an no disrespect taken as you said whatever works
  5. A flush needs a machine to be changed ,so you can;t do it at home. awd version have a rear diff to be changed also
  6. truthfully anyone planning to do anything more than change their own oil NEEDS the lexus factory manuals .They are worth more than their weight in gold when troubleshooting and modifiying anything on the car. It also keep the fact from fiction answers that people may have in check.
  7. Depnding on how good the battery is it could be the battery or just the normal cycle of the alternator charging it after a cold start
  8. The diff is internal and is chanegd with the rest of the tranny fluid. I prefer flushing the system not draining it as it removes less than a 1/3 of the old fluid . A drain works for engine oil not tranny fluid.
  9. here you go http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=11775
  10. agreed th only info you said that was pertinant was it doesn;t start which is too vauge
  11. If you shut the caroff and restart will it move for 2 minutes again and stop. Sounds like a plug in the filter or valve body clogging the pressure transfer. I say this alot latly but try adding an external filter and letting it idle for a while
  12. check the ES section but i don't know who sells them outside of Toronto
  13. I have a mcv10 chasis so i cannot say for sure as i dont; have insulation on my hoses. I would assume the insulation is for the one returning to the transmission not leaving. The best thing it to disconnect one form the rad get a small cup as it is very low pressure when cold. Get someone to start the car for 2 seconds and see the direction of flow ,I checked my manual but it proved to be no help so that is the way i found mine for sure.
  14. 2 words no and search
  15. No problem it usually takes a razor blade to seperate the foam tape from the backing as it is rather tight.
  16. CAMLEX First , my tranny never failed after a flush it just failed. After a flush i was able to get it back to new again. Until i took it for an emission test at ERIN PARK LEXUS in mississauga and the jackasss tech thought it was a fun and fast car. So he went to warm it it which i never thought of anything since i know all the other guys but him. Next morning i could not get it out of my garage. The filter was slushed with fibers from high rpm shifting. But how do you prove something that isn;t supposed to happen overnight but immediatly. Now i know how i would prove it but it is besides the point. Unknown how long a normally well taken care of tranny will last. I am not sure where to get it besides in Toronto but i am sure Toronto does not have a monopoly on them. I was a very slow process starting with higher and higher rpms for 1-2 gear changes. It failed all of a sudden one night when it was real cold. JPI I am still on my first filter i never changed it but keep planning on getting a new one shortly . Funny thing is it will take less than 3 minutes to chaneg i just have much more to do besides drive that car. The cooler is not nessacary for my needs. Which i s why i added the temp gauge to my tranny fluid to monitor it. I do mainly highway and the thing never even gets past the lowest temp unless i am idle or stop and go traffic. Like i mentioned it takes about 3 weeks of normal driving to finally clear the valvebody up. I will take pics when i do open it up sooner or later.
  17. Good thought JB
  18. here would be my thought on why a drain might be better than a flush in very few cuircumstances. New fluiod with new cleaning agents clean gum varnish and other debris holding onto the sufaces inside the tranny. This makes them loosen and now cuirculate with the new fluid . Problem comes in that the metal mesh cannot catch the particles as they are too small for the mesh . Which then keep cuirculating till they slowly build up in the valve body at a specific tiny port causing a constriction of fluid. Thus being the same problem already experianced by others just it has been hibernating . My conclusion is to add the external filter then do a complete flush not drain. As the slow drain process lets enough of the debris stay suspended to not collect enough. A dead tranny can be brought back by a flush as mine was DEAD meaning i could not move forward or reverse . After numerous flushes i realised where my problem was by removing the filter and leaving it to sit in varsol then used a filter media to strain the left over debris. When i took it to a tranny shop for a hypothesis they said it was fibers from my TC backing . Also that the metalmesh could not filter it out. They said the filter would not help . But i tried it anyway. So all in all i can drive again and with very little change from when it was new.
  19. peel the red off the foam tape it is adhesive under it i never heard back from you skippy pm me your email adress if you are still interested
  20. i have a camera but haven't installed it yet i didnt; bother painting mine as they are black and for some reaons blend perfectly. You are right though some colours will not come close to matching properly. my car is nasty in this pic , if i get it up but i tell people to look for a change and they do not even see the sensors. It is hard to see as the car is dark and dirty The little wirey thing beside the led display is the camera which i am still waiting to make a casing for.
  21. you'd be a poor man right Steve ? lmao
  22. I didn't say. I got mine localy from a transmission shop. Not sure where else you might be able to get one, it shoudl be available from other places . I was sent a link form another memebr asking about it but the one showed to me was huge and for RV's trucks and other large hydralic machines.
  23. they should all be painted but i was confused the first time i inspected an Mercedes SLK which has a flat black finish from the factory on the inside of the trunk lid
