  1. Yes the TT swap is possible. that being said, here is my advice: 1. compression test, if it checks out, a complete rebuild might not be neccisary. the 2jz-ge thats in it is very strong, and i would suggest looking into some turbo kits for it. The motor is VERY capable of 20+ psi, and under that can be held reliably. Along with the kit, you'll need the other odds and ends, exaust, bigger brakes, injectors...etc. The TT swap would be well over 10 grand, and the turbo kit can keep you well under 10 grand, and over 400 hp. (easily)
  2. they we're a disgrace to their herritage anyways...
  3. I think borla has a better sound....Tanabe is LOUD
  4. hey hoebag, how are the ts forums goin? I havent been there forever! I was alex reith on there...
  5. lol....its a friggin boat with long !Removed! gears...
  6. is 3 grand really that much considering the work that goes into it? If i was repainting my car a different color, I would tear the car apart and paint EVERYTHING that was originally painted, and im guessing the 3 grand includes them taking your car apart (close to down to the chassis) and reinstall...Plus, if you dont repaint everything, there goes your resale value! resale value is already dampered by repainting, let a good paint job stand for your lexus :)
  7. sounds like someone doesnt know how to take care of a car....with an interior like that, its only a matter of time until the motor starts acting up...if you're gonna drop 9 g's on a lexus...get something that has been taken care of religiously and driven by an older person...I picked mine up for 6k (by owner) and its in PRESTINE condition and has 120k..there are better ones out there...you would be well over 10 if you tried to piece together a new interior, let alone if you wanted to fix the paint
  8. I would go with a nice suspension set up, or a set of Cd'd/slotted rotors...no cleaner mods than those... also, would you mind posting a pic of your car with the IS wheels? im considering gettin rid of my GS for a non-vvt-i SC300 and am considering putting the stock wheels on it and swappin the IS wheels over to the SC
  9. also, back to the original thread....I would start modding the motor, rebuild it with some stronger internals, and for the 1uz, I think a supercharger would be a great way to go. A nice set of slicks on the back would almost be crucial, seeing as you'll be hitting peak torque very early and I'd be surprised if a set of DR's would keep you on the road. With proper traction, a S/C'd 1uz would be a monster, esp. from a dig...I'd love to see what kind of torque numbers it put down on the dyno
  10. and the most fraudulent(sp?)!!!! Then your car can get impounded and you want have to worry about anything! :)
  11. lex Luthor, do you have a site that has info on your engine work? I have so many questions about your setup i dont even want to start asking :)
  12. are the colors of the leather exaclty the same? do a lot of the toyota and lexus leather colors match perfect?
  13. mmmm....stock M5's will put the hurt on an ls1, Id love to see a modded one... let alone if its blown..
  14. WOW...thats impressive. How much PSI do you plan on running? also, that would look pretty nice if that turbo mani was polished up like the turbo itself :)
  15. My suggestion is to turbo the stock motor and stick with the auto for a while. The 2jzGTE swap is very, very expensive....commonly over $10k...which is why I would MUCH rather have a 400+ RWHP @ relatively low PSI, reducing engine wear. Something to consider for the year is that the pre-97 sc300 motors are stronger and handle boost better than the later VVT-i 2JZ's. ....just my 2 cents:)
  16. How did you lower your car? I cant imagine a nice set of Eibach or Tien springs ruining your suspension...
  17. I feel that it is worth it to have the car serviced by lexus, I sure know when I was looking for my pre-owned that was a BIG thing i looked for...yea, its cheaper now, but your resale value will be lowered.
  18. you cant find an SC thats better than that for 10 grand? You could get one with under a hundred thousand miles on it that would last forever...
  19. Hey, now that ive got a little cash saved up to put into the lexus, I was wondering what lowering springs I should purchase? How much should I lower my car? I have a TON of gap now, and would like to eliminate that, but in no way rub or look slammed. How much will they affect the ride of the car? How much does it usually cost to install lowering springs? This picture expresses the horrible gap:
  20. i think going with a reasonable sized turbo and replacing a few injury-prone parts and pushin 4-500 HP reliably is a great way to go. I'd love to see what LS1's had to say after gettin smoked by a 2 ton luxury car. Well, from a roll anyways...I cant imagine a boosted aristo being anything special off the line...
  21. Southernsc300, do you drive your car pretty hard? That just seems like a lot of maintnence....also, are there differences in the sc300 and sc400 interiors? what about gas mileage?
  22. I think you could boost a little more than 6 lbs on a 2jz and be safe....b16's can hold 6 lbs like nothin
  23. It all depends on how the motor has been treated, but with good maitnence and gently driving....the 2jz is capable of WELL over 200k
  24. I own a 93 GS300, which has the same motor, and the car is perfect. Its got 120k, and there has been no major mechanical problems at all yet, and only 1 interior piece has broken (minor). The car drives extremely smooth, compression is perfect, and the leather is holding up like a champ with no major wear or tears or anything like that. I highly suggest a lexus with the 2jz, I have a lot of faith in this motor and its reliablity. Overall, I would say the sc300 would be a great car.
  25. i was under the impression that the borla actually wasnt too loud, and sounded pretty good...you might check into it a little more
