  1. Did you take another 2021 RX350 for a drive to compare? Consumer reports rates the RX350 at the very top of its non-hybrid list.
  2. Did you check the alternator's output voltage? I'm assuming the engine runs but the battery is not getting charged by the alternator. I believe output voltage from the alternator should be about 13.5.
  3. Well, it used to be that luxury vehicles had all kinds of bells and whistles, years before the "lower class' vehicles did. But that's not always the case anymore. Most Mazdas are more like Audis when it comes to interiors and quietness. I had a 1989 Mazda MX6 GT Turbo until it was 25 years old and its interior still looked great. Certainly, keeping a vehicle garaged helps but piston engine Mazdas have always been very reliable. I currently have a 2014 Mazda3 (bought new) with tech package. It has radar cruise, a heads-up display (via popup lens), a super capacitor that takes the electrical load off of air conditioning and steering, blind spot monitoring, etc, etc. It has been perfectly reliable. I also have a 2008 MX5 - excellent reliability, also. The trick to maintaining great reliability is not necessarily to pile on the miles, it is making sure that the vehicle does not sit for extended periods of time. If you go on a 20 mile + trip once per week, your car will not fall apart after 15 years.
  4. You are correct in that you can't directly compare BMWs to Lexus vehicles. Here is Consumer Reports' manufacturer reliability rankings as per their chart published this year. Lexus is 3rd and BMW is in 12th place. I would surmise that this 2007 Lexus is not leaking fluids nor that it has any bad suspension components.
  5. This guy does a decent job of providing a good overview and test instructions.
  6. I recommend that you take a look at autotrader.com and go to "Advanced search". Enter as many details as you can to compare what others are asking. Certainly, the low odometer reading raises the asking price.
  7. P0300 LEXUS Possible Causes What does this mean? Faulty spark plug (s) Faulty ignition coil (s) Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s) Intake air leak Fuel injectors harness is open or shorted Fuel Injectors circuit poor electrical connection Ignition coils harness is open or shorted Ignition coils circuit poor electrical connection Insufficient cylinders compression Incorrect fuel pressure
  8. Thanks for the info, Loren. I'm sure others will benefit from your experience.👍
  9. This may help: 2004-2009 Lexus RX 330/350/450 rear cargo door switch repair - Bing video If there is power to the motor and the sensor is okay, here is a video about replacing the rear hatch motor: Fixing the Power Rear Door on a Lexus RX 330 and RX 350 - Bing video
  10. Another possibility is a loose battery cable connection, either at the battery terminals or at the ground cable to chassis connection. Are there any warning lights?
  11. Then that typically means the starter/solenoid is bad. Is it a daily-used car?
  12. I wonder what the difference in weight is between your OEM and these wheels. Hopefully it's not a huge amount more.
  13. You're welcome, Gary. Can you sell the existing tires and purchase the 235/65/18 size tires?
  14. When I checked tirerack.com, they list your 2015 RX350 OEM tire size as 235/60/18 which has a diameter of 29.10 inches The 2020 RX350 OEM was either 235/65/18 (30 inch diameter) or the 235/55/20 (also 30 inch diameter) So it looks like you'd have to have the 235/65/18 size tires on your 18-inch wheels in order to retain the same overall diameter as what was available on the 2020 RX350.
  15. The tire diameter calculation requires converting from inches to mm but you can skip that and use this handy calculator: Tire Diameter Calculator | Calculate Diameter of a Tire (calculatorpro.com)
  16. Welcome, Frank. Thanks for joining. I've been here for a while and enjoy all the knowledge from some great owners. Best regards, Dave
  17. New lenses will always look better than a polishing job. However, you may want to research what is required to replace yours. Some swap efforts are not very easy. I used a Meguiar's headlight lens polishing kit. To me it had the right "ingredients".
  18. Well, how did it look? I always research factory maintenance requirements, first. I then conduct a phone interview. If I'm happy with what the seller tells me regarding maintenance history, duration of typical trips taken, incidences of any component failures, and how often the vehicle was garaged, I would set up an in-person visit. I would bring my Rhino ramps to allow me to look underneath. Vehicles of this age may have seeping valve cover gaskets, worn leather in certain areas, and even a cracked or softened dash. Checking all electrical/electronic features is a must. Good luck.
  19. Yes, simply remove the battery cover (I believe each fastener has a button that you must press to release it.), connect the positive (red) jumper cable to your battery's positive terminal and the dead battery's positive terminal. Connect the negative (black) jumper cable to your negative terminal and then to a chassis ground on the dead battery vehicle (preferably away from the battery). Turn your ignition key to the start position. The dead battery car's engine should start even though your car has not started. If the dead battery is extremely weak, it may pull enough current so that your RX will start up. If this is the case you may have to wait a few minutes before enough current has been drawn to start up the vehicle getting jumped. By the way, your RX400h must be a 2006 model. Ours was purchased in April of 2005 but as a 2006 model (first year of designation for this vehicle)
  20. This mechanic investigated something similar: 2000 Lexus Rx300 codes p0301 p0302 p0303 - Bing video It's about 16 minutes long but is somewhat informative.
  21. You'll love the uniqueness, power, sound, comfort, and attention. I had been checking turo ads for over one year before someone finally started renting this LC, here in San Diego. Check turo.com in your area; you never know when one will pop up.
  22. This happened to me one time when I accidentally swapped the battery cables in a Nissan Quest. I believe most vehicles have what is referred to as a "Battery fuse". It is normally a 120A fuse but if it blows, many accessories will not work. You may find that this large fuse had blown. I did find this video which may or may not show exactly what you have. Main power alternator fuse breaker replacement in Lexus, Toyota, etc. - VOTD - Bing video
  23. Take a look here: Lexus Codes – TroubleCodes.net By the way, according to California law the SELLER is responsible for having the vehicle smog-checked. Did you know this? If you did not and the seller did not verify that the vehicle was smogged, you should contact the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Home page - Bureau of Automotive Repair (ca.gov)
  24. Have you tried this? I'm not sure what years this procedure covers but it's worth a try.
  25. I have to wonder what your parents' reasoning is for placing this restriction on you. Do they think that only an SUV is safe? I bought my son a Honda Civic and my daughter a Mazda Protege, each for $5000 when they were 16 years old. Both cars were highly reliable and got excellent fuel mileage. In addition, emergency maneuvers (including braking), if required, would be safer in a smaller, lighter vehicle. The cars were new enough to have multiple air bags and of course, ABS brakes.
