  1. Okay, what category - all-season, performance all-season, Ultra high-performance all-season, or Ultra high-performance Summer? There is a possibility that you can downsize your wheel diameter so that the tire aspect ratio is taller foe a softer ride.
  2. According to Consumer reports, there aren't many tires in your size that are rated better than average for ride. On exception is the Firestone Destination LE3.
  3. The 2015 CT200 was rated "Much better than average" overall by Consumer Reports. The only category (of 17 categories) that did not earn a better-than-average or much better-than-average rating was for Power Equipment, which earned an "average" rating. The Power Equipment Category includes: Audio systems, entertainment systems, navigation system, backup camera/sensors, and communication system. Of course, a lack of maintenance could adversely affect a vehicle's reliability, so try to get ahold of a completed schedule of maintenance work done, and records of any non-maintenance work.
  4. Ah, it looks like the compartment design had some relevant thought put into it! 👍
  5. Actually, Consumer Reports uses an outside testing company to test tires. And they NEVER accept paid advertising. I've found CR's recommendations to be spot-on over the last 30 years. You can also compare ratings on the tirerack website. They do comparisons of various tires in the same category. The customer's ratings, however are rarely based upon back-to-back comparisons of latest model tires, so take those with a grain of salt.
  6. Even my Samsung Note 9 phone is only 3.15 inches wide with elastomer cover. Height is 6.56" in same cover.
  7. It looks more like a bad ignition switch, so testing of that switch should come first. The starter contains a solenoid that receives a 12 volt signal from the ignition switch. If the switch is found to be good, then testing of the starter solenoid may likely be tested next. There may also be a starter relay, as well. See: STARTER. 2009 Lexus RX 350 | Lexus Parts & Accessories Online I believe #28160 is the solenoid and 28100 is the starter. My guess is that you will not be testing everything, yourself.
  8. Are they all-season or performance all-season? Some great all-season tires are: Michelin Defender T+H General Altimax RT43 Performance all-season: Michelin CrossClimate2 (Ride is also better than average.) Continental PureContactLS All have better than average (lower) noise levels Source: Consumer Reports 2022 Annual Buying Guide
  9. Which vehicle model? Also, you may want to look at the answer, here: 2003 lexus GX470 leaking water in floor drain line is open. you can here water sloshing in the dash. actual water in the (justanswer.com)
  10. I'm curious why your son needs such a large vehicle with low fuel mileage, especially with today's gas prices. A 2010-2013 Mazda 3 with SkyActive engine gets great fuel mileage and is very safe. My son has a 2012 Mazda 3 hatch and loves it.

  12. I would think that their technician or service manager should be able to contact Lexus in Japan if the procedure is not in the factory service manual. Three weeks is far too long. What did they tell you, specifically?
  13. I wonder if you could find one in a salvage yard. Have you checked?
  14. Who's doing the exhaust work? If you are taking your car to an exhaust shop, you should check with the owner to see what he recommends. Many custom exhaust shops have installed all kinds of configurations, including muffler bypass kits.
  15. I found this in a UK Lexus forum. It shouldn't hurt to try it out.
  16. Les, I seem to recall that there were/are battery tender quick-connectors that allowed for easy use on a frequent basis but that was many years ago. Is there not an easy-to-remove panel to access the battery? I have to admit that I am ignorant of the ES 300h battery placement.
  17. It looks similar to a wheel bearing retainer clip. See: FRONT AXLE HUB. 2005 Lexus RX 330 Gold (VIN starts with J) | Lexus Parts & Accessories Online
  18. Have you tried cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor? CRC has a spray can for this purpose.
  19. Les, this is excellent information, although you may be among the very few new Lexus owners who are as inquisitive. I think if I were going to be away from home for more than three weeks, I'd hook up a trickle charger to keep the 12V battery fully charged, primarily because I'd worry that the life of the battery may be reduced if it drains down to a certain level or lower.
  20. Speaking of which.......My wife and I were at Balboa Park on Friday afternoon and spotted a brand new LC500 convertible parked in an end spot, among many other cars. I have to give the owner credit for not worrying so much that he or she wouldn't go out and park that car in a public area.
  21. Thanks, Les. That makes sense. I believe there is also a bottle holder in the door of my Mazda 3.
  22. Perhaps if the catalytic converter is partially plugged and producing excessive back pressure, the idle will drop. This could be the problem. A test would be to disconnect the catalytic converter and then see if the vibration goes away.
  23. Les, I believe this is a photo of the interior's cupholder.
  24. Here's a great article on the subject by Consumer Reports magazine. Extended Car Warranties: An Expensive Gamble - Consumer Reports In summation: You will be most likely wasting your money on an extended warranty for a highly reliable brand such as Lexus.
