  1. Mobile 1 5W30 is the only thing I have EVER put in my LX470. I have ordered K&N oil filers on a recomendation from a friend but have not tried them yet.
  2. I have a 99 LX470 and I ALWAYS hear the whining noise on cold morning NEVER during the summer. After two or three miles the sound is gone. I feel a lot better knowing that most of the rest of you have heard the same thing under the same situation. (Truck outside of garage on cold nights.)
  3. take a volt meter and check for power on the plugs according to the type of connector that comes with the trailer.
  4. For taillights on the rear tailgate refer to this post: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=7385& From memory of doing this... If this does not work reply and I will go and talke a look to refresh my memory. For taillights in the frame of the car you need to remove the screws to the (2 if I remember correctly) lightcover inside the frame of the LX 470 ( area covered when the rear hatch and tailgate are closed) and pull the light off sideways not directly out from the frame of the car.
  5. Yes Perry your cellphone will have to have bluetooth capability to communicate with the bluetooth in your vehicle.
  6. Lexus 1992 LS400's used to have AMPS (Old mobile standard system) Motorola phones as a preinstalled option. This phone had all the controls in the steering wheel including 3 speed dial numbers. The new car kits do come with auto mute which will turns down the volume of the stereo when a call comes in. If you can trace the wires from the handset cradle to the controller box then you can probably find out the car kit model? Go to Google and put the part number in for the car kit and you will probably get more information than you would ever want to know about it.

  8. I figured it out. you have to pull the carpet off of the tailgate and under that is a three screw pannel door that comes off. Below that door are the wires and twist sockets to lock the bulbs into place. Trying to read the numbers off the bulbs was tough. At Pep Boys they pulled up the sylvania bulb number I needed for replacement and the job is now done :D . Thanks for your reply Robert. It is nice to make aquaintance with another 1999 LX470 owner
  9. Does anyone know how to remove the tail light covers that are on the flipdown door on an LX470? I have a burnt out bulb and cannot figure out how to remove the light covers to replace it.
  10. I have seen the Color Matched spoilers on ebay. I have not purchased one ... I have a dirty rear window as well :-{.
  11. Very cool setup. I think you have it all planned out VERY WELL :-) A mobile theatre ... or Three separate simultaneous video experiences :-0! Nice Plan. :D
  12. You have a great opportunity that I do not have. If you have dual mounted LCD's in each head rest ... I would ask for TWO separate RCA connections ( one for each TV .... that would give you the opportunity to use a bag VCR of DVD player (DC to AC converter) and your could plug in DVD, CD, VCR, (RCA jack video games, playstation, game cube, nintendo ... ) into either or both video screens. You already have a lot of flexability built into your system if you have two video screens. I would keep in mind cable connected headsets for back seat viewing whether it be dual simultaneous or different shows.
  13. Welcome. I just registered today but I have referenced this forum for information since I bought my 1999 LX 470 about 1.5 years ago. It had about 38k miles on it when I got it. I have really enjoyed my LX470 ever since I got it.
  14. I got my 1999 LX 470 about a 1.5 years ago. I had an Audiovox overhead DVD video system added on behind the sunroof (replaced the roof light with DVD system) installed at Circuit City. It hangs down kind of low and when the screen is down it blocks some of the rear view mirror view. DVD / CD's are put directly into the overhead unit NOT under the seat in a DVD player . I put it in so that our kids could watch movies or listen to their own CD's while we are traveling on long trips. I have aremote control for the unit and Infra Red wireless head phones for kids only sound or we can choose to hear the sound from the DVD player over the Nachomichi original equipment car stereo system. The prices for these mobile video systems has come down quite a bit since I had mine installed shortly after I bought this vehicle. I am still very happy with the option of being able to listen to cd's or the radio while the kids can listen to what they want to in the back. I also like to be able to watch the TV (ballgames) while tailgating. I hope this info helps ( I would recommend this setup) just make sure that you are ok with how low it will hang down while in use or when folded closed.
  15. EBAY or a Junk Yard could be good places to start. Junk Yards have very good location of specialized parts these days. Either would be more cost efficient than buying new. Also dont forget that the Toyota Landcruiser is virtually the same vehicle and the seats WOULD PROBABLY work from either vehicle :-?
  16. I added a K&N Flitercharger (drop in replacement for the standard Lexus engine air filter). Adding the K&N has gotten me better better gas milage and more power from my 1999 LX470. I also only use the 5W30 motor oil as it seems to provide better gas milage than the 10W30 does :-? This has been my brothers experience as well who has done the same thing on a 2000 Toyota Landcruiser. 17. Has anyone installed PIAA 90 PRO XT DUAL LAMP SYSTEM FOG LIGHTS on their LX470? http://piaa.com/Lamps/Lamp-pages/90proxt.html I have some ordered and plan to install the PIAA 90 PRO XT lamps on a WAAG Grille Guard that is on the LX470. I am looking for ideas on wiring ... and where to put the control switch for the lights. There is an unused switch spot in the center console below the stereo between the rear fan and rear window defroster buttons? Thanks in advance for posting your experience and ideas. :D
