  1. i forgot about the stupid pistons good call
  2. Hi Lexual , It was nice to hear from you that you did on your own, but I don't know how to do it, how complex it is and what are all the tool that I required to do it.I have poor knowledge in auto industry ,but still I m interested to learn do it on my own. --Thanks, Neni Not very hard at all requires a socket set, and a well really thats it. after you take off the tire there is 4 or 6 dont remeber off the top of my head bolts that you unscrew the caliper holding the brake pads slips right off the rotor and then your rotor comes off. Pretty simple really
  3. I will keep that in mind my friend
  4. Should have done it yourself I redid my brakes with cross drilled and slotted rotors all4 and 4 new high performance pads grand total $300 and a saturday
  5. for the mr2 hmm let me see if i can dig up my old toyota and lexus books with the graphs...another thing that has gone on mentioned is how much power actually gets to the wheels the lexus loose alot of power through the tranny dont know about the mr2
  6. I am assuming an aftermarket head unit....if that is the case you will need lots of time and patience to rewire everything and mount it proper...there is no real wiring harness plug in kits
  7. but what does the torque curve look like? the torque curves of turboed and na/eaton-roots supercharged cars are noticeably different. its pretty flat
  8. http://www.edmunds.com/future/2005/mitsubi.....0.Mitsubishi* for those of you wondering what the new eclipse is suppose to look like
  9. I think because alot of people are still trying to refine it...i am working on mine right now and trying to figure out better ways to do it.
  10. whats the speed limiter on the sc4? somewhere between 100 and 110 if im correct. with the somewhat high geared tranny on the sc4 + its cd + its power, hitting that speed limiter should be VERY noticeable and potentially dangerous at speeds that high. I have hit 110 111ish mph without the limiter kicking in never took it any faster
  11. Ok as for the weight to power ratio lets start with some more specifics lets assume for sake of argument they were both 1992 models 1992 SC400 250/3575 (the actual weight) is .0699 1992 MR2 Turbo 200/2758 (again actual weight) is .0725 So the MR2 has an advantage. Then on top of that the mr2 has 200 ft-lbs of torque at 3200 rpm where as the lexus has 260 ft-lbs but at 4400 rpm so once again the mr2 has an advantage because the torque is helping it get up and go earlier in the rev range. helps if the numbers are accurate but the MR2 should have won assuming all is stock I noticed somwhere something about wegiht reduction to the sc what exactly did you drop out of it?
  12. I think what you are refering to is a simple boost controller, these serve the same basic purpose but the FCD operates a little differently.
  13. I think i could happily drive that...speaking of the new eclipse what does everyone think of that i thought it was kind of ugly myself
  14. what re you talking about? your friend has a fuel cut defencer. one of a variety of fine products made by HKS. the fuel cut defence splices into the Stock ECU and overides the built in saftey function that keeps you from over boosting. (like you KINDA said) anyways i dont know if you are familiar with turbo's but your friends turbo is not staying on longer it is just boosting higher. i would venture to say that you mean the wastegate is staying open longer but then again if your unfamiliar with a fuel cut DEFENSER i doubt you would be familiar with a waste gate
  15. that is really pulling at something...anybody with turbo that has done work and knows anything wouldnt say stay on longer they would say it spools faster...it just sounds fishy anyway you look at it
  16. The IS rims look really good on the sc in my personal opinion
  17. Anybody from around arizona??? I am in tempe just looking for other lexus owners to drive and hang out with...
  18. Boost stay on longer??? i think what your friend ment to say is i left my foot on the gas :P There is no way to have boost stay on longer you can increase your boost to more psi and if that is what he did i have troubles beileving you won...hmmm maybe you should ask your friend again.
  19. When i took out the old plugs...which i beileve to be orginal they were bosch platnium...i have always had real good luck with the plus4. as far as NGK the irdium isnt worth the money I hear the type R are good but the car said to use platnium tip so i did
  20. they dont exsist thats why the guys on ebay get so much for lexus sc400 shop manuals. there are some cds out there that have "all the same info" for alot less never tried one though
  21. I have been wondering the same thing
  22. jag=norturios for problem engines I guess they are getting better but still not really known for reliablity
  23. As some of you may remeber I was having some low end torque loss since recent repairs on my car. Well today I got around to a little more maintance an oil change and new bosch platinum +4 plugs. And magically i have craps loads of low end torque again....god bless oil changes Just for those of you who are curious about oils i used a Mobile1 15w-50 high performance oil today it is very thick but once it heats up it runs smooth as day. I otped for this as just a new thing plus i drive really hard and live in arizona and we have already hit 96 degrees...to early for that kind of heat.
