  1. The decrease in mileage isn't worth the cost savings.
  2. How much are you wanting to spend? What options do you want?
  3. They are inexpensive on the internet and eBay especially. I'm thinking I saw them for $25-35 per pair on eBay depending on the model and year. The trunk lifts are about double to triple that on eBay.
  4. Did upgrading the DVD do anything else like higher resolution? I doubt it but thought I'd ask. What about voice recognition? Any different? Please e-mail me at tfarmer@fa.ua.edu
  5. I get 25-26 at 75mph and 28-30 at 65. I usually get 16-17 around town.
  6. I believe I read that there was a problem with the filler neck. Call a Dealer and they can tell you what it will take to corect it.
  7. I was told if it hasn't been done regularly then leave it alone. To flush and replace can cause problems since the old fluid is probably helping hold old parts (with greater tolerances) together in tighter tolerance.
  8. Had mine done last week. They had to backorder the replacement (took about 3-4 weeks). It looks great. No more having to hear the woman's voice when starting up. No more buttons. You do keep the sunglass flipdown. They don't remove the antenna.
  9. Agreed! You should see the inside of an engine that has been operated incorrectly.
  10. I bought an '03 LS 430 w/30,000 miles back in December and I get about 16-17 city, 27-28 highway @ 75 mph, and 31-32 highway @ 60 mph. I use 93 octane.
  11. Do a search on here and you should find the directions.
  12. He was in Clearwater, FL. I have a friend with a body shop who I'm sure will check them if I ask him to @ no charge.
  13. Bought it at 30,000 miles with pretty new Michelins. I have 32K now and just wondering if I just wait for the brake warning light or take it in for someone to look at? Can I trust the warning light? I have no proof the original owner changed the brakes out (I'm the 2nd owner). Thanks in advance.
  14. FWIW, The Dealer is changing out the CD player under warranty. If not it would have been $850. They can't work on them at the dealership but instead order a new unit and just swap it out when it arrives. They also replaced the subwoofer since it had a vibration in it ($500). They will next swap out Lexus Link (analog).
  15. Jerry, I just ordered 2 from eBay for $79 + shipping. Dealer wants $120 each. I'll install myself. Trip
  16. The dealer is doing it under warranty since I only have 30,000 miles. They have to order a new unit. When it comes in they just swap it out. They can't work on them at the dealership. Pretty easy but if not covered uner warranty it's $850. They also swapped out the subwoofer since it had a vibration. It woudl have been $500. I have ordered 2 new trunk struts from eBay for $79+shipping. I'll install myself. Lexus wants about $120 each + installation.
  17. Thanks to the group for the help prior to purchasing this vehicle. I found it on eBay 600 miles from my home. Put a $300 refundable deposit on it and flew to Tampa to look at it (with a certified check if I decided to buy it). It all checked out ok and I bought her. She only had 30,000 miles. I then took 1 1/2 days to drive her back. This was 2 weeks ago and since then I have learned how nice a car it really is. It has NAV, Mark Levinson, 4 heated seats and 2 cooled ones, nice Michelins, Parking assist, no body work, etc. I have been on another trip to Nashville this week and am getting 26 mpg on the highway at 75 mph and 17 mpg in town. Extremely quiet ride and all the airbags make you feel safe. Oh, she's Metallic Silver with Gray interior. It is the most comfortable vehicle I've been in. I was deciding between this and a 1999 Mercedes SL500. I made the right choice. FWIW, Edmunds and KBB priced her at approximately $32K. I paid $25K (buy it now price). I also got them to pay me $300 by reducing the Buy it Now price to pay for my flight/hotel/gas. This dealer said he sells 200 cars a month and doesn't mark them up as much as he could so he can flip them quicker. Again, thanks. Trip
  18. I got it out but the Nav screen now says "CD Error" and the door won't open. Not sure what to do now.
  19. Just bought a '03 LS430 yesterday and can't get the CD door to open when I press Load or Eject. Navigation screen says "CD Error". Anyone have a suggestion?
  20. I guess I'll eventually find out. I looked for a little hole to put a paper clip in for a "manual" ejection but there isn't one.
  21. Yes, it is stuck not quite all the way in. Just far enough in that needle nose plers won't quite reach the disk. I figured I could go by Circuit City and get one of their guys to get it out for me. Then I'll try it the right way. I guess it's possible it wasn't working before I bought it but I doubt it.
  22. I bought a 2003 LS430 w/30,000 miles in Tampa. Took a one-way Southwest ticket from Birmingham, Alabama to Tampa Bay Friday (yesterday) arriving at noon. Seller (dealer) picked me up at the airport. I took a good 2-3 hours going over a 55 point checklist and test driving it for about 40 miles. Handed him a certified check for $24,500 and he handed me the Title. Drove 5 hours to Tallahssee and spent the night then the remaining 400 miles hime to Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide!) today. Now I see how the other 1/2 lives. I have learned to trust the Nav. It has ML Stereo, Navigation, Ventilated seats, front/rear heated, parking assist, etc. I think I got a $30-32K vehicle for $24,500. It was a one-owner and had almost new Michelins on it. I'm extremely happy. Got one problem if anyone can tell me what to do (and I'll probably post this seperately). I bought a CD at Wal-Mart on the way back and didn't read the instructions before putting it in. Now it's stuck in the drive and won't eject. I didn't press "Load" first and the CD didn't get "pulled" in. I kind of pushed it. Anyone know what can be done? Thanks in advance. BTW, this site really helped me decide to buy a 430. Thanks! Trip
