  1. You'll never make it up in fuel savings. Better to watch you driving habits including combining trips to stores, etc.
  2. Ask the person you got the disk from.
  3. Put it in the same direction the one you took out was turned.
  4. Lexus dealer wants $42 each (they are small, only 4" X 2"). They are hard to find since the market isn't very large for them but I did find one source for $21 each + $11 shipping. After I found them and ordered them Lexus called back and dropped to $32 each.
  5. Regular is regular (87) and mid grade is midgrade (89-91). Premium is 93 around here. I have found that Shell around here does not have ethenol and has no plans to use it. The car will adjust for the grade, thus no pre-detonation. Buy Shell and BP since they don't buy from the middle east.
  6. There is a clip on each end (left and right). Run the seat as high as it will go.
  7. I guess it depends on how you drive. Are you saying you get 22 city? If so, you must be doing bypass driving. If that is your combined driving city/highway then that would be about right. It all depends on the type driving and the local roads. I get 26 highway at 75mph, 29 at 65, 32 at 55.
  8. I've got the original 2.1 version Gen 2/3 and want to upgrade with OEM. Anyone found a good source besides Lexus? There are some on eBay and I will probably get one of those.
  9. I noticed the part number stamped on the filter and did a search and found them for $21 each. With them out the air flow is so much better. They probably had never been changed (I'm 2nd owner). Thanks guys!
  10. Anyone have a source for these or a part number? It took 3 minutes to get the first one out and 15 seconds for the passenger side. They were totally clogged up. I'm sure I'll get better cooling now but want to replace them. Thanks in advance.
  11. I also live in Alabama (Montgomery, Wetumpka area). Hey neighbor (Tuscaloosa here). Any kin to Jim?
  12. So, if you lock them out will they then drill your tank? Bad times we are aheading for.............
  13. Alabama. It's getting more scarce, though. Ethenol is a political move. Ethenol doesn't help us at all. It ends up taking more fuel to go a certain distance when Ethenol is added. The first stations to sell blended fuel around here priced it about 10 cents lower than unblended. After a few months they are now at the same price.
  14. The Regular didn't have Ethenol added. I won't buy gas with it.
  15. Those little screws (clips) are about $3-4 each and break real easily. I bought a few extras but you'll break one just changing the air filter. Not worth it so I just leave them loose in place.
  16. I'm posting this a 2nd time for all to see......... Ok, here's the results in an '03 430LS driven in Alabama. I ran nearly 3/4 tank of regular (non-ethenol) in it the past 12 days. I filled it up when almost empty to get the best result. I drove around town normally and even floored it a few times. There is definately a power difference. How much? I can't say. There is a slight lag in acceleration which is not normal. With premium I usually get no better than 17 in town and normally 16.5. This 3/4 tank gave me 16 exactly. So the difference in 16 and 16.5 is a 3.125% decrease in mileage. Premium is $0.25 per gallon more here and I paid $3.90 for regular. That is a difference of 6.41%. So, from my experiment you would see a reduction of approximately 3.125% in fuel mileage but you would save 6.41% on the cost of the fuel. You have to factor the decrease in power as well as any "unknown" there may be. I calculated that will cost me about $150 per year for Premium which I am willing to pay. I have not tested this on the highway. As soon as I get a good trip where I can check the difference on the Interstate I will post it. Hope this helps! Pilotguy
  17. If you're looking to purchase an '03 LS ($25K+-) then you can afford to buy 30 days of unlimited CARFAX service for about $25-30. Keep in mind only things reported to them are guaranteed.
  18. Give me another week and I'll post the final results of city driving only. Last weekend I ended up going out of town and messed up the city driving test. I have about 1/3 tank used and so far it's 6% decrease in mileage with regular but I spent 6.4% less for the regular. Basically a wash. Seems there is a slight decrease in power when asking it to accelerate fast in town. This is with an '03 430LS. Since I've only used 1/3 tank I'll post final results when I've used the whole tank for city driving. This is in a city of about 100,000 population. Some 1/2 - 1 mile non-stop stretches and some 1-2 block stretches. Not much bypass type driving. Hope that helps. I've seen it drop from 16.5 to 15.5 mpg.
  19. A power difference would be negligable the way I drive. I usually get between 16 and 17 in town. I'm doing about 250 highway miles Saturday so I can just watch on a level stretch and see what I am getting at 75. I'll need a weeks worth of in-town driving to actually get a good average on in-town driving.
  20. I have an '03 LS and I get 25 highway @ 75mph, 28 @ 65mph and 16-17 in town.
  21. I'll report back what my mileage is. I know what it normally is so I'll see if there's a large variation. I don't mind using Premium but am just curious. ******************************************************************************** **************** Ok, here's the results in an '03 430LS driven in Alabama. 22. Call somewhere like Express Oil Change. They do my changes and whatever they dial in on the gauge it is exactly right everytime.
  23. I have an '03 ls430 with 36K and wondered if I should change it or not. I've never changed it in any other vehicle I've owned several of which went to 100K and over. I was told by a mechanic that if you don't do it early then you don't do it at all since it could cause problems after you change it.
  24. Then you've saved enough to pay the Dealer $600. I had the same error message and my Dealer, even though out of warranty time wise (not mileage wise) swapped it out. I believe it would have cost me $800 from the ticket they gave me. They also changed out the Subwoofer and that would have been about $550.
