  1. I buy my oil filters from Toyota but my post said I was looking for engine air filters.
  2. I ordered some 2 years ago and am out and can't remember where I got them. I want the OEM Toyota Filters, namely the engine filter. I still have a cabin filter. Any help would be appreciated. All I can find is "Non-Toyota/Lexus" brands.
  3. Is the battery just an unscrew and replace at Radio Shack? I see a small screw on one side of the key. Does that let you pop open the two sides to replace the battery? Thanks in advance.
  4. I'm going to get my brake pads changed soon. 55,000 miles and I'm sure the fronts are getting close. I want the best pads I can get and/or the MFG recommends. Which pads will work best and where can I order them from? Also, I've heard some say to put new rotors on verses turning them. I've always turned but never changed brakes on a Lexus. What do you think on the rotors? Thanks in advance.
  5. I went the Primacy route and got them at Sam's. Drive down to Wildwood Sam's and get yourself a set. Order them first since they are a special order but will only take a week to get. Best price by far.
  6. I called Tom Williams Lexus and was given a price of $1750 to do all they suggest to do in a Timing Belt change. What I don't like is them charging the "book cost" of replacing the water pump and other items. That doesn't give you credit for already having things disassembled when they take the pump out. They charge you as if they are only replacing the pump. I know that is the way it is but I don't like it. The service Mgr said he didn't necessarily agree but that was how the industry was.
  7. Oh yes, I will get a list. Tom Williams wouldn't have a problem with that at all. They are above board. Probably one of the best Dealers in the country. Great list Lander. Thanks!
  8. This is Tom Williams Lexus, one of the best Lexus Dealers in the Southeast. Their e-mailed ad states Timing Belt Replacement. I doubt it covers anything extra like the water pump, etc. It's good through 2/27/10. They are good for whatever they say.
  9. OK, I drive an '03 LS430 with 55,000 miles. My dealer has a special for $475. Is this a good price and should I consider it because my LS is 6 1/2 years old? Thanks in advance! PG
  10. I just switched to the Primacy on my '03 LS430 and love them. I took Michelin Energys off with 20K miles left on them and replaced with the Primacy. Much better in rain.
  11. When shopping for trunk struts I found lots of hood struts on eBay. Look there. If I remember correctly they were a lot less than the trunk struts.
  12. I know we get a warning from the sensors but by then you have to replace the sensors, right? I've got 55K on my '03 LS430 and am feeling a little grinding the last few feet from full stop. Should I have them checked if the pads are getting close to the sensors (I'm not really sure how it works) can I save the sensors by changing the pads out now? If I hit the sensors do I have to replace them or can I just replace the pads and leave the sensors alone or take them off? Can an Independent (not a Lexus specialist) do as good a job as the Dealer (who is 60 miles away)? Thanks in advance.
  13. Sam's would only install what their book said was the correct tire for a particular vehicle. I had to convience the manager that, all else the same, a higher speed rating was actually better than a lower one. I finally got him to sell me the higher rated tire.
  14. I have 52,000 miles on my LS and am going to have a shop check the brakes. If they get into the wear sensors do you have to replace the sensors or can you just disconnect them? If you replace before they get into the sensors do you save the cost of doing the sensors? I'm at a loss as to what is needed. Thanks in advance.
  15. I think you should look at the number of miles you'll be putting on your vehicle. If you're putting 100+ miles a day then you're really going to take a hit on depreciation down the road. If you don't care about that then get the LS (I have one).
  16. I got them installed yesterday at Sam's. The guy had a very hard time getting them to seat on the wheels but finally got them all seated. MAN! What a ride!!!!!! I still have about 20K left on my Energys and have them for sale on Craigs List but the difference in ride, smoothness, quietness, turning ability, etc. is remarkable. You always get that when you go from a used to a new tire so I'm not sure how much is the "new" factor and I'm sure some is, but these are really nice riding tires. Got her up to 100 yesterday afternoon and no vibration at all. Should I have gone with the higher speed rated tire? Naw, 130 is enough. :o)
  17. I bought them today after work and will get them installed Saturday @ 7am. With taxes they were $700. I still have about 10-15K on the Energys and will try to sell them to a resell tire place. I hate to replace now but 1) I can afford it and 2) I like the safety of having new tires, and 3) with 51K miles I won't have to worry about tires for a long time. The $700 was with $15/tire install, warranty (which includes free lifetime rataton, etc.), and road hazard warranty plus the $70 immediate rebate from Michelin.
  18. I'll check my local Sam's to see if they have the same procedure you stated. If they do and they actually go by it that is great. I will ask if they know what torgue to use on my LS430. I have 10K left on my Michelin Energys but Michelin has a $70 rebate on 4 tires and the Primacy @ $165/tire is a deal. The $15 per tire is a good deal, too. Thanks!
  19. Why am I paying for you to get a $4500 credit??????????!!!!!!!!!!! Cash for clunkers? Drive a clunker, keep your cash! Only fools buy new vehicles.
  20. I'll be buying a set of Primacy at Sam's Wholesale and concerned that they may not torque the lug nuts properly to Lexus specs. How important is this? I'll question them before ordering the tires (special order).
  21. OK, the Michelin Primacy MXV4 it is! Right now Sam's Wholesale can do a set installed for $651.88.
  22. OK, the Primacy it is! Right now Sam's Wholesale can do a set installed for $651.88.
  23. Just called Michelin and you are right. It will be the Primacy for me next set (if I can get this set to wear out). :o)
  24. Was wondering because I still see the Energy for sale.
