  1. Check Edmunds.com to see a fairly close price for it. Edmunds is based on actual sales.
  2. I currently have Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus XSE tires (225/55R17). I'm 5-10K miles from needing new tires. I bought this car with 30K miles and now has 50K miles. Not sure how many miles they had on them when I bought it but they have served me well. Never rotated and no unusualy wear patterns. I'll probaby replace with the same but wanted to see what other tires you would recommend. Price is no obstacle. Thanks.
  3. It doesn't cool that much just keeps your !Removed! and back from sticking to the seats. Cools a little. Check your filters. If they are dirty not much air will be getting through.
  4. You can definately tell the difference on a hot day. Your clothes don't stick to you and they do help cool you. Now that I've had them I wouldn't want a car without them.
  5. OK, Dealer replaced actuator............cost..........$605! Will be looking for another place to do my repairs (local Toyota Dealer possibly). I agreed to the cost before they replaced it because they have done over $1,200 in warranty work for me when I was actually out of warranty.
  6. I can hear the actuator working but the lock won't move. I'm off to the Dealer in the morning..................
  7. I own a '03 430 LS and am looking at an '03 430 SC with only 35K miles. I guess my biggest concern is the top. What is the chance of a major repair bill down the road? I guess if it works properly when I buy it, it should continue to work properly. I've also heard about having big repair bills when you hit pot holes and mess up the tires and rims. Any truth to that? This one has Dunlop sp sport 5000 tires. Anything else to look for or is the '03 a bad year? Thanks.
  8. Well, I'll be 54 Thursday. Does that count at really old? :o) After driving SUVs for the past 14 years I wanted a new ride and like quality. The LS is so different than my Pathfinder and Cherokee. I am now finding myself wanting a SUV or something to haul things in. I'm reluctant to put a load of bricks/mulch/top soil in the trunk and in fact won't. I may be in for a light pickup or Jeep Wrangler.
  9. First I'm 6'4" and drive mostly solo so less back seat room is ok with me as well as smaller trunk room. Any advantages for the newer IS 350? I only have 45,000 miles on the LS and it is almost perfect in every way. Thanks in advance.
  10. Thanks. I'll try this and see if I can get the actuator working.
  11. Gene, I just updated my Nav DVD on my '03. It was 2.1 and now is V. 8.1 (if I remember right). Anyway, cost $250 and I doubt I'll ever upgrade it again. Only takes 3-5 minutes to switch out the DVD. The new version just has all new roads, interstates, subdivisions, etc. It didn't add anything as far as functions. Trip
  12. I've also had some problems with the remote not beeping when locking the doors but it only happened a few times and went back to beeping. Problem is with the passenger front door. It was taking 3-4 "unlocks" from the remote to unlock it, now it won't work at all even from the lock on the door. Wish I knew how to take the door panel off and get to the actuator so I coudl spray it and see if that would work.
  13. Is that something for the Dealer? Sounds expensive since I'm sure they take the door apart (lots of labor).
  14. I've just started to have a problem with my remote not locking or unlocking the right side front passenger door lock. Is there something I can check myself? Any ideas? The lock won't work even when using the lock mechinism on the door itself, so it's more than the remote. Thanks in advance. PG
  15. They are charging you close to $5,000 for buying from them. Buy from an individual an LS 430 that is still well within warranty. That way you can check it for body work (or have someone check for you for $50-100) and then you have the waranty to back you up. Don't pay for an extended warranty.

  17. I thought Lexus Link was turned off permanently like last year for those year models. They took my '03 out under warranty and replaced with sunglass holder, etc.
  18. Be careful buying aftermarket (aka pirated) copies. I just bought Ver. 8.1 for $250 for my '03 ls430. Won't have to update again for years. I originally bought what I thought was advertised as OEM and it came as a bad pirated copy. Luckily eBay got my money back and I reported the guy to the USPS and Lexus. He quickly left eBay but I think was on Craig's List, too. There are some on here selling Pirated copies. Be careful............
  19. I have an '03 and the mirrors were set to auto mode where they pull in when the car was turned off and go back out when it is turned on. So, that meant many times a day they operate in and out. Over many years that is a lot of movement. I guess tehesteering wheel could be the same but you can't turn it off as far as I know.
  20. Just wondering how many don't let their side mirrors auto fold? Once I heard how much it was to replace the motors I set mine to the fixed position. Am I worrying about nothing or are some of you doing the same?
  21. In October 2007 I bought a 2003 LS 430 with 31,000 miles off eBay from a dealer in Tampa. They had a Buy it Now price of $25,500. Book for this car was $32K so I expected something to be wrong. I offered $25K Plus they pay for my airfare and 1 night motel and gas home. So they knocked another $250 off. But I expected to find something wrong adn decided I'd better be willing to pay $1K for something I'd find later. They picked me up at the airport on time about noon on a Friday. I spent 2 hours going over a 53 point checklist. All looked ok to me except I didn't check the cd player (Mark Levinson) since I forget to bring a cd with me. I ended up buying the car, drove 1/2 way home that night then the rest of the way on Saturday. Once home I discovered the cd player would accept cds or eject any if they were stuck. Also the subwoofer was rattling. My local Lexus Dealer changed them both out under warranty even though time-wise they were out of warranty. That saved me a total of over $1,100. Then I found where the left rear bumper had been bumped and repainted and not very well but well enough to not show that day to me. I've always said you should wax a car before you buy it. That way you'll see everything. Anyway, the parking sensor had a cracked rim so I had a professional shop repaint the bumper and put a new sensor in. Cost = $800 including $225 for the sensor. So, you can see I did spend the $1k afterall. Would have been more except for the Dealer's help. They are a great Dealer, too! Plan on some surprises and have the cash to fix them right away. BTW, the mileage they adertised was 400+ lower than what was on it. They explained that the owner had been taking it home at night. Oh, well. I now own a 2003 LS430 with 42,000 miles and run like a charm. Great gas mileage, too.
  22. He has had contracts with the US Gov't to do some of their jets. If this was a farce he'd not be doing the business he is doing and word would get out. You should have seen my airplane after he did it. Like a mirror and it had a 19 year old paint job on it.
  23. Depends on the speed and roadway. I use 93 octane, pure gas, no Ethenol. Around town 17mpg. On the highway @ 65mph, no Ethenol, 29-30......at 75mph, no Ethenol, 26mpg. With Ethenol it decreases about 4%.
  24. He has been in business doing this for 20 years. He does $20M jets down to autos. Same process. He's not applying wax.
