  1. Just picked this up from E-bay & thought I would share if anyone is interested... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Lexus-Factory-Separatio...1QQcmdZViewItem I require a 'detachable' key chain & find them very convenient.....I asked a bunch of Lexus dealers and I couldn't find any. It's a classy piece & has the 'Lexus' & 'L' logo engraved in. B)
  2. You just can't please these guy's... http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/reviews/2...us-is-f-review/
  3. You might want to give us some more details on the car......1 owner, condition, service records etc? It's hard for someone to recommend something (especially a used car) when they have next to no details.....the more detailed info the better.
  4. My 05 ES was a lease return & the previous owner had every single maintenance item looked after at one Lexus dealer....the good news is I have almost a full year of factory warranty left too. Nothing wrong with a lease return if it was well looked after. B)
  5. Same here......park out of the way & walk.....annoys the wife, but keep the car in good shape. :whistles: ;) The odd time I get some moron that will go out of his/her way to park right next to me too. :chairshot:
  6. I think they have been replaced with these... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...uranza+Serenity
  7. Nope, they no longer carry them (only ones they have are the LS-H, but not in only in 2 sizes left & not in my size or the LS-Z which is overkill on an ES).
  8. Ah Ha! Now the truth is coming out! lol j/k Steve :P Honestly, I was never a Goodyear fan either until I gave the TT's came out & I gave them a try (I was always a Michelin & Toyo guy). I was also going to give the Yokohama Avid H4S/V4S some serious consideration.....they are cheaper than the TT's....but still leaning towards the TT's.
  9. The guy that flies across the desk at the jerk throwing stuff at him I think was classic! :whistles:
  10. Ask friends or family what they recommend.....or go through the yellow pages and make some calls to get an idea. I'm sure someone will chime in that is near your area that can recommend a good shop. I've used Llumar or Solar Gard (20% or the medium shade 'charcoal' on all windows...yes including the front drivers & passenger windows even with the front window tint laws) in the past myself & have been very happy with their performance. The key is to find a top quality shop that does a professional job....as the back window is a bit of a bugger.
  11. What error code(s) did you get?
  12. I've heard these things overtime fade & becomes discoloured....especially in areas where you get harsh winter conditions & alot of road salt is used (which I have seen & it's looks aweful). I had the chance to put them on both my ES's, but decided to pass. Pretty pricy item too for such a small area that's being covered imo. I agree with mburn, you do your best to keep the finish in great shape (wash/wax often, never get behind a gravel truck etc lol)......but over time, you will get dings, chips & the occasional dent. Put that $600 towards a good set of tires, or 16" rims for winter rubber or part of it to a nice tint job (which does wonders for appearance). Just my 2 cents.
  13. If the 99 has all service history accounted for....that's a great start. What is the asking price? I personally like the 2000 - 2001's better because of the slight updates they did (especially those redesigned tail lights). The good news is, the 99 MY is when they tweaked the 3.0L V6 for 210 hp & 220 tq (compared with 200 hp & 214 tq). Keep us posted & good luck! :)
  14. Personally, I enjoyed the fact that I can change the setting depending on a given road surface & it does work well. My only concern is down the road is if the system has any problems......what will that cost me?
  15. My only question to your comments Steve is....if they were so good (and they were a good seller).....why have they discontinued them? The TT has a built in ice block in the centre part of the tread along with the ingredients in the rubber compound to have much better traction below the freezing point (most all seasons lose their grip & performance below 7 degrees celcius....what that....just over 40 F?). ;) One good tire that is out there (but definately not for a Lexus) is the Nokian WR all weather plus.
  16. I use the TT's year round yes.....and yes to the better winter traction over the Michelins (which I have also had on previous vehicles). Also keep in mind that the TT's have quite a bit longer of a treadlife. :)
  17. It's a good question....but I have no idea why it's not more popular on the east coast.
  18. Turn up your speakers & click the link....enjoy! http://glumbert.com/media/baddayoffice
  19. Welcome to the club! B) The one major item with these years is the engine sludge concern. Try & get one with all service/maintenance history as regular oil changes are key (synthetic oil is even better) as is the other regular fluid changes. Have the vehicle inspected by a trusted mechanic before you purchase. The only other issue I had with my previous 2001 ES was the rear suspension bushings needed replacement.....other than that, it ran like a Swiss watch. Good luck.
  20. Alternator life can vary due to a number of factors & at different mileage. If you feel it's on the way out, consider getting a remanufactured one or have yours rebuilt which shouldn't cost an arm & a leg. Is your timing belt due for replacement as well?
  21. And here I was hoping to get my ES with the strut tower brace this time around lol.
  22. Fair enough Steve (gotta love these tire debates again huh bud? I think I can hear steviej rolling his eyes again! :whistles: ) lol...but I'll take the TT's in a bad snow/ice storm over the others personally. No arguement the others will be slightly quieter.....just look at the tread designs. Did Bridgestone replace the LS-V's with anything?
  23. Ever tried the Amsoil ATF dc? :)
  24. Not for winter conditions they aren't Steve. ;) And my experience with them on my previous ES as well as 2 Subaru Foresters.....all the talk about them being loud is not true.....Still have not owned a better tire in the rain though. At least I think we can agree that the Turanza EL42's are not a very good OE tire for good traction. :)
