  1. Thanks for the input guys. Actually my dealer ordered my car without res by mistake. I really wanted the factory res with inverter. They are offering to install the aftermarket, but I am sure it will be the least expensive. maybe an omen not to take the car...
  2. Anyone confirm if ANY aftermarket DVD player type res systems will alllow video to be played through the front nav Screen like the factory unit will? Also would the quality of an add on be anywhere as good as the factory RES? Would the final cost be more for the add on or the factory? TIA
  3. No difference I can tell. I use the DC powr jack in the rear, use a subwoofer and a farad capacitor, Car radio runs for 3-4 seconds after I shut the car off. ← ←
  4. I just figured because I am waiting for the RES model, perhaps this feature will be there. Does anyone that has the RES have any radios keys on the Nav screen?
  5. Anyone with the rx400+nav Are there any radio controls on the nav screen? Example, entering freqs for stations?
  6. The noise is pretty bad. Tried ferrite clamp on chokes on the injector wires and the coil triggers, but could only reach 3 of them. The other 3 are hidden behind the firewall.
  7. Hi Ted, seems I posted my reply incorrectly. Anyway, mounted the Low band antenna on a rear Wag Bar. Mounted the UHF-VHF on the rear door. If you need pictures I can provide them. Not one hole drilles BTW. I do hear lots of ignition type noise from the injectors. Hoping the radios will not cause and hybrid problems. I listen 90% talk 5% anyway.. 73's[ quote=tedpvhome,Jul 5 2005, 04:44 AM] I'm a new owner. The manual has a cautionary note about this issue. If you are interested I'll look it up. I'm going to be installing a rig in my RX400h as soon as possible. My first effort is going to be an external mount of my two part radio, a TS-480SAT Kenwood. I'll put the head end front panel inside the car and use the stock Kenwood extension cables to the outside of the car where I'll mount the main box. I'll use a local, external, gell cell next to the main unit in a weatherproof box mounted on the trailer hitch. The trailer wiring is rated at 10 amps DC. I'll use that power to charge up the gell cell. With this design all RF power will be external to the autos metal body. The only electrical signals inside the car will be audio and digital control signals. My main concern will be how to mount the antenna so that it doesn't cause problems for the electronics. Any suggestions, criticisms or ?? Ted, NX6C ←
  8. That's great news. I'll have to talk to the salespeople about that..
  9. I agree, I think Toyota/Lexus has been testing this car for over a year. If there are any problems/failures, it has not been mentioned here in the forums. Can't help wondering though... Someone I know recently experienced a transmission breakdown in Las Vegas. Instead of having the local yokel try to fix it there for $3000, he had his van towed back to San Diego. The thing I'm getting at is that many local garage mechanics would be helpless if diagnosing almost any vehicle's computer-based problems. Tires, hoses, belts, and radiators are things they are more likely to be able to handle, but I would not trust just anyone to fix anything more complicated than that. Thus, I think the chances of this happening are slim enough that you shouldn't worry. ←
  10. What would we do if the RX400 broke down hundreds of miles from a dealer. Could any mechanic figure out what to do ? I travel some routes many miles away from any dealer. I am concerned Opinions?
  11. There are many pages in the owners manual describing the functions. There are pictures of the display showing settings. Quite dissapointing it's not really there. Anyone know the real reason?
  12. I think so. The VAIS documents say that it works with XM Direct or XM Commander. ← I did not see the commander radio anywhere in their docs? Where did you see this? What emulation mode do you use? Can you see signal strength? TIA It works with either, but the Commander is a lot more expensive than the Direct, and offers no advantage with the VAIS interface, so unless you already have one like Jerry, it's not worth buying one for this purpose - i.e. stick with the Direct. ←
  13. Ok, that's good news. The VAIS-AIC100 is the inerface, what XM radio did you use? I have a commander, wonder if I could still use that?
  14. Can anyone from management find out if a two way amateur radio will interfere with the hybrid controllers in the 400? Power output up to 100 watts SSB The RX330 has no problems.
  15. Hope it is minor, let us know. Please let us know if you can still view a dvd in the fron by having the car in park, emergency brake on and hitting the AUX button twice. Would appreciate that information.
  16. If you have a 400h with the factory rear entertainment system, please confirm you can still watch a dvd in the front.
  17. Beware if using a cellport system with a Motorola V710. If your phone has the latest firmware (within 30 days) and you use it in your cellport, your phone will have some parameters changed, permently. Verizon replaced 2 phones for me until Cellport admitted they changed settings that were to be reset if you cycle the phone off-on. But they claim no responsibility for the new firmware. Yet they still have this pocket adapter for sale. Once your phone has been used with the cellport, the speakerphone feature will not work properly, what happens is the party you are calling heres a very bad echo, that can't be fixed. My Lawyer advises me to sue both the dealer and cellport. I am trying to work something out with my dealer.http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/style_images/1/folder_post_icons/icon7.gif http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/style...icons/icon7.gif
  18. I am currently waiting "3-4 Mos" for a 400 with factory entertainment package. I just got a call from a dealer and they claimed to have some coming in. I was told they aren't making that model for "-3-4 mos". Anyone know for sure?
  19. I am asking if anyone knows for sure if the tube steps and rear wag bar will bolt directly to a Rx400h? I want to swap the ones from my 330 to a 400. My salesman was supossed to get back to me, but as usual he did not.
  20. Test drive one. Come to a slow crawl, as if you were paying a toll, 5pmh, then try rapid acceleration, you WILL know if it's there or not. My 330 will hesitate long enough to scare the &^%$ out of you should you need to merge quickly.
  21. What would happen should a 400 runs out of gas? Of course we would never let that happen, but what if??
  22. 15 Minutes of traffic, that's it. I would think there is more reserve than that Do all the other RX400 owners find this to be true as well? Just remember that even in stop and go, the battery will run down in 15 minutes, and the gas will kick on...no matter what you do...the battery has to keep a certain amount of charge... Headless
  23. What I would like to know id why they don't have breakwater blue anymore, or any lighter blue?? :cries:
  24. Anyone know the difference in weight between the RX330 & the RX400h ?
