  1. John, I do not have the ML system. I listened to one and did not think it was worth it. I am not sure if I could have ordered the option because I wanted the RES, not sure if you could have both in 06. I did not want to drill any holes. Since the install I have added a dc-dc booster. This way I can have 13.8 volts at the AMP. If you meter the +12 from the plug in the rear it can go as low as 11.5 volts. I really do not play the system up very loud, just wanted some decent lows.
  2. i check t the voltages with a digital voltmeter today on two cars (RX400h's model 2006). charging voltage is definetly 13,8 to 13,9V. battery voltage without charging and internal lights on is between 11,4 and 12,4 volts. if i am right this would mean a nearly empty battery?! After turning the car off, the battery should be at least 12-13 Volts. 11.4 is not good, perhaps something is drawing current that should not. Any aftermarket alarms, stereo's installed. Time to have the Lexus techs check it out.
  3. you are not the only one having this kind of problems! here in europe many RX400 users are complaining about the same "battery dead" situation. when we started to look into that we all assumed that the small 12V battery is the source of the problem. situation is that it takes only about 45 to 60 minutes with the interior light on and you can not start the car again. this happens easily also when you leave the back door open after offloading your car in the garage. after installing a scangage II (www.scangage.com) in my RX and observing the 12V voltage i found that the charging voltage is never higher than 13,9V. tho fully charge a 12V lead battery you need 14.5V. this means that my car (and so far i can only speak from my car only) is never fully loading his 12V battery. actually it is not charged for more than 50% of its full capacity. i will do the 45.000km service next week and will confront the lexus service personell with this finding. looking forward to see what they will tell me. i am very interested to see if only my car is loading with only 13,9V. have anyone measured his 12V power when the car is in "Ready" state? regards williz I just looked at the scangage web page. That device uses the OBII socket. It is possible the battery voltage AT THE BATTERY may be higher than the connector shows, depends on what the current load is at the OBII side. If you have a digital voltmeter please veriify by taking an actual reading from the battery. 13.8 is a float voltage used on many standby batteries. Since the main battery does not start the car, could be one reason they run it lower. My battery is usually 13.8 to 13.9 volts.
  4. I asked the dealer to look into this at my last service. They claim it is not a known problem. It is annoying. what are we are breathing in. Any lab people out there? CSI where are you!!! Hi, Did you ever find the source of this? I noticed it in my vehicle last night. White particles over the dash/console etc... The windows are always up at this point given the weather in New England is still cold. So I don't think it came from an external source. Jim
  5. I would really appreciate help. My phone is Verizon RAZR. thx Why not just post it. I am sure others would would find this useful. I used a siemens s56 and put my 10 most used number in that phone, then transfered those 10 to the RX400. This gave me the names to go with the numbers. I am using a V815 Verizon phone.
  6. Take a photo, time date the imprint with your favorite photo program. A little safer to store the photo than a used filter. Save receipt as well.
  7. I don't think we will ever know, or it really did work at all. Once in a while a new member will drop a post just to see what discussion it starts.
  8. This is interesting ,my 06 400 has the res. I cannot play an mp3 dvd inserted in the rear player. What format is on the dvd to play mp3's? I burned mine as an iso dvd. It's not a ML system, but I don't think that is the problem.
  9. I was under the impression the RX400 uses the rear electric motors for reverse? The trasmission (CVT) does not have reverse. You may think the motor does this but I have been in reverse with only the electric motor.
  10. Yes Lexus did move it. I have never had the car near water. I scraped the rusty paint off today and sprayed 4 coats of high temp engine paint on the brackets. Both sides were about the same.
  11. No tissues in my car since I ran out weeks ago. Twice in 4 days wiped the dash clean, then saw the dust again.
  12. I was at the dealer today. Showed them the context here and my white particles. They said they did not know where it was coming from. Then said perhaps if there is a TSB they will be able to fix the problem. Very dissapointed. What shall we do next?
  13. Here is the picture. The dealer claims they can't help me with this.
  14. I just noticed today the white dust on the dash. Car was washed 4 days ago and the dash was clean then. Windows have been closed. My garage is a two car garage behind my house, no white dust there. Hi, Did you ever find the source of this? I noticed it in my vehicle last night. White particles over the dash/console etc... The windows are always up at this point given the weather in New England is still cold. So I don't think it came from an external source. Jim
  15. Like the header says, my paint is peeling from rear wagbar bracket, the one from the chassis to where the 4 bolts attach to the rear extension. This was purchased and installed by Lexus. First on my 330 and then moved to my 400H. The wag bar is 2 1/2 years old.
  16. The future with battery technology will always be improving. NMH batteries will be improved to give more current per cell, perhaps we may see a module for our current cars that will last longer. The problem is the charging circuit we currently have is very complicated and perhaps a little computer tweak may help for higher capacity nmh batteries. As far a a future lithium-ion batteries, the charging system will be much different that what we have. The lithium-ion batteries will last twice as long and be 1/2 the weight or more.
  17. I have a 2006 Grey 400h. Paint code 1CO. I have tried the factory touch up and paint from touchup123. None of these match the color. The area's I touch up are very visible. I use very small applicators, followed the directions from the kit, used small layers, but Can't match this color. Has anybody had success with this? TIA
  18. I am using the new Icom 7000, 100 watts, tried it on every band using hamsticks mounted on the rear wag bar. Running like this 17 months 18,000 miles. One of the dealers salesman is a HAM too. I know GM uses RF test chambers with cars. I have been to detroit working with them when I used to install cameras in the Indianapolis pace cars. My guess is Toyota does too. Also running 50 watts on 2&440.. My Kenwood 2000 puts out 50watts on 440 and 100 throuh 160 meters. I'm afraid to run it mobile! Might blow out one of the on-board PC's don't you think? Besides, don't you think the Prius is dorky enough without the Hi-Q screwdriver antenna? :^)
  19. I have traveled to many states, I too love san-diego, perhaps in another life where my roots aren't in the NE. Then again, you live in New York...... (I can joke about it because I was born in Queens!) Ah Yes New York, I was in San francisco for the last Earthquake(Candlestick park). New York aint so bad eh... Hey, I live in San Diego - BIG difference, there! I did visit San Francisco once and didn't care for it - too cold!

  21. Sort of, Where I park my car in NYC even though I ask the parking attendants NOT to open my windows. I see they are open when I PU my car. I have found opening the windows is normal for them, The reason is many cars have passive alarms and may lock when you walk away, hence the keys are inside as that is where they are often left. I have to get a cutout switch put in to prohibit them from opening my windows. You would be suprised how much dust is floating around these garages. My new car smell was gone in 3 weeks.....
  22. I think the headset has a step switch for volume.
  23. My 400h has the michelins. So what would the max pressure be? Is that a "Cold" pressure, because it goes up as the tire heats up?
