  1. Hey SK, No, I have never looked in the member's garage until just now. Wow, you do have a lot of stuff in there! Very nice! With the money you have spent, it would pay for my entire University Education! :P Regards, Bryan
  2. I think I had a pretty good soughtered connection of the speaker, so I don't think that is the issue. It could just boil down to the fact that Sony sucks . . . Regards, Bryan
  3. I still get lots of work done, so it is OK :P I just use LOC as a means to clear my mind when I am stuck on something :) I guess I must get stuck a lot :P Regards, Bryan
  4. Now this question is directed towards mYe :P When you turn off your car, put your ear up to one of your speakers . . . do you hear any static or anything? A member on a Benz board a participate in had the problem where his factory amp wasn't shutting down, and this caused his battery to die after 12-24 hours of sitting . . . Just a stab in the dark Regards, Bryan
  5. Sorry amf, I didn't make it clear to whom my question was directed towards. The question was intended to be directed towards SKPerformance . . . I knew that mYe had stock, because I asked him already before (because an aftermarket stereo could be a cause for battery drain). Sorry about my lack of clarification Bryan
  6. Yeah, I know all about the resistance ratings and how they work . . . I just bought a sub and amp and had to learn that stuff before making my purchase :P I also don't see why having thin wiring would cause the speakers to distort--but then again, I am not an audio specialist by any means. Regards, Bryan
  7. Excellent! Congratulations and welcome to the club! It is always good to have more mechanics on the board :P The more the merrier :P It sounds like you landed yourself a really good deal B) Regards, Bryan
  8. Yes, it is all in the design of the engine. If it requires premium, then premium is what it should get or you may have engine knocking and will put extra wear and tear on your engine. If your car does not require premium (such as my '92), then regular is what it should get. Pretty simple :) Regards, Bryan
  9. Even if it is not law they you get a new car, some nice talking to your insurance company can go a long way . . . especially considering that th accident is not your fault. Good luck, Bryan
  10. I can't believe the difference in price between Toronto and Kitchener. They are only 80 kms away . . . Toronto = $110/hr Kitchener = $91/hr Thats pretty drastic if you ask me . . . Regards, Bryan
  11. Yeah, but they make a very large (and I am pretty sure HUGE) amount of money on parts. They would much rather sell you the OEM parts themselves. A friend of mine who once worked for GM for many years said that GM really makes very little profit on their car sales . . . maybe $500 - $1000 per car. BUT, it is in the parts sales where they make their killing. Regards, Bryan
  12. Hmm . . . weird that you notice an improvement. Are you sure that it is not because of a slight change in driving style (for fuel economy)? Maybe you did more highway driving for that tank? but then, you said you noticed an improvement in idle and acceleration too . . . hmmm. Theory says it shouldn't improve . . . I wish has prices were as cheap in Guelph as they are in Toronto! Why should you guys only have to pay 65.5 when we have to pay 79.0 only 80 kms away?! It's just not fair :( Regards, Bryan
  13. Well, I dropped off my car last night and picked up my loaner. I got a friggen' 2004 ES330!! It is worth more than 10 times as much as my '92! It has tonnes of options of it too . . . - Rain-sensing wipers - 6-CD in-dash changer - Wood and leather steering wheel - Rear sunshade - Variable suspension (Sport and Luxury) - Adustable pedals - Maybe others? Basically, I think it has everything except the Navigation. Wow! This is like a loaner car from heaven! What a smooth and quiet ride (except when you have the Mark Levinson stereo booming :P) The car is even in my favourite colour scheme . . . silver on black leather! So far, the dealer has made a very good first impression by loaning me this car for free :D I couldn't be happier to cruise in this machine for a day :D Now I still get to drive it back to the dealer from work (50 kms) so I am looking forward to that :) Does anyone have any special/cool features of the car that are worth trying out before I bring the car back? Regards, Bryan
  14. No, amf makes sense to me :) It all makes pretty good sense, and I can see why I got such poor results. I am sure the wiring has something to do with it to, but the wiring shouldn't make such a huge difference as it did, so I don't think that is the only reason . . . Regards, Bryan
  15. But these are the Lexus mechanics . . . shouldn't they know the car inside and out? I don't have anything I need installed at the moment, but I was just curious. I had a used Power Steering Pump (OEM) installed at my independent mechanic and it took them over four and a half hours at $80CAN/hr! Just the installation cost me $360CAN :( They complained about a seized bolt or something, but doesn't 4.5 hours seem excessive when they originally quote 2 hours? I figured that a Lexus mechanic should have been able to do the job in 3 or less hours, thus saving me money over the independent . . . Regards, Bryan
  16. Are you getting the car from a family member or something (hence the cheap price)? Keep the car a secret or someone's going to go buy it before you :P Good luck, and let us know what you decide, Bryan
  17. What do you have added to your car that would cause your battery to go dead all of the time? Do you have a huge stereo or something? Regards, Bryan
  18. By the way, my ES300 is making it's first trip to the Lexus dealership today to have the rough idle checked out, so hopefully it should be running smooth again today B) Regards, Bryan
  19. I always thought that Shell was supposed to be pretty good? I have been using Shell in my cars for the last 5 years (mainly because I get Airmiles through Shell :P) But, I also liek the fact that Shell is a Dutch company and I am supporting my fellow Dutchmen :P Not that it really matters :P Regards, Bryan
  20. Oh yes . . . good point SK. Forgot to mention that. But my solar sensor was triggering an error even when it was light outside . . . Regards, Bryan
  21. OK . . . believe it or not, but if your car is not designed to be used with Premium gasoline, then PREMIUM WILL NOT INCREASE PERFORMANCE OR DECERASE ENGINE WEAR. The stupid (or I guess you could agrue smart?) big oil companies want you to believe it will, because they make more money off of it. They even use sly marketing tactics such as labelling "bronze", "silver", and "gold" to make you think that the "bronze" gasoline is inferior to the "gold". One must understand the difference between the gasoline grades to understand why premium does nothing for a car that does not require it. Basically, premium gas is more difficult to ignite than regular gas. The point of premium gas is to prevent engine knock in higher-performance engines. For example, if you put regular gas in a premium gas requiring car, the more flammable gas can ignite when you don't want it to (misfire). I know that my '92 ES300 requires only regular gas, so I assume that your '94 only requires regular as well. Because it only requires regular, this means that the will not misfire with regular gas. This also means that the engine will not misfire with premium gas either, but it will also not burn properly as your car is not designed for it. And actually, by putting premium gas in a non-requiring car, you can be doing more harm than good and DECREASING your fuel economy. Yes, that's right, PREMIUM fuel can HARM your car! It makes sense. If the gas is more difficult to ignite, then this can lead to carbon deposits and engine clogging and other negative effects such as increased emmissions. Didn't you ever notice how the gas companies never have any informative publications/brochures explaining the real differences between gasoline grades? It's because they don't want you to know. They want to make more and more money by feeding off of innocent people's ignorance a desire to keep their pride-and-joy cars in tip top shape. As a rule of thumb, it is pretty simple: use the grade of gasoline that is indicated in your car's user manual. The manfacture made the car, so they know what works best with it. Regards, Bryan
  22. Try the following website: Car-Part Website This site tracks the inventory of many of the major car wreckers across North America. It is awesome B) Regards, Bryan
  23. Just put up a really big fuss with the insurance company. Demand that you get a brand new car. Just be a real pain in their butt :P Your car is REALLY REALLY new, so it makes sense that you should get a new one back. You are not violating the insurance rule where a client "should never benefit from having an accident". Just talk nicely to your insurer, and you should be able to work something out. Good luck! Bryan
  24. I don't have AIM, but I use MSN Messenger: bdonkersgoed@hotmail.com Bryan
  25. Where are the cracks on the seats? I have never had any craxks in the actual leather, but the stitching does tend to come loose in some of the seams . . . not a really big deal. I just had a shop restich the holes (in the seams) for $50CAN when I bought my car :) Regards, Bryan
