  1. Just for everyone out there with the '92-'96, here is the procedure: 1.) Pull off the black plastic cover that goes across the front of the engine bay. It is held in place by plastic clips. 2.) The headlight assembly is help in place by three bolts (I believe they are 10mm, but can't remember for sure). Loosen these bolts. 3.) Unclip the wiring harnesses for the low and high beams at the back of the headlight assembly 4.) Pull the headlight away from the car (careful not to scratch your paint!) The headlight and turn signal is one unit. 5.) Unclip the smaller wiring harness for the turn signal 6.) There is a grey twist cap on the bottom of the headlight assembly by the signal light portion. Twist it counter-clockwise and pull it right out. You now have the turn signal socket in your hand. 7.) Push and twist the burnt bulb counter-clockwise, and you can pull it out 8.) Reverse the procedure above to install your new bulb and enjoy :) Regards, Bryan
  2. YIKES! Now that is expensive :o The Lexus dealer said that my loaner will either be a Toyota or a Lexus (but he's not sure yet). I have bad luck, so it will be a Toyota :P With my terrible luck, it will probably be an Echo :P Regards, Bryan
  3. Thanks for looking up the quote . . . I might be interested in getting this done too. Regards, Bryan
  4. Haha!! No, don't think I'll settle for a bicycle :P I've got too far to travel in a day for that . . . I'm hoping they give me a newer 97+ loaner just so that I can try something different. More realistically, if they are going to give me a Lexus, it will probably be like a '97 ES or something (which is cool too :) ) Regards, Bryan
  5. Oh, I am not putting down the Corolla at all . . . they are excellent little cars. It's just that I don't live in a city, parking is free, and I am hoping to get something a little fun to make me feel better about spending money on service for my car :P Corollas are totally economical, but they lack the "fun factor". I am hoping that they would give me a GS300 to try . . . that would be awesome! It is a car that I love but can't presently afford, but I will be looking at buying one in a couple of years. In order of preference, here are the Lexus cars I would like as a loaner (not including SUVs in this lineup): - SC (fat chance! Too expensive and sporty for a loaner!) - GS (hmmm . . . maybe? If I pleaded? :P) - LS (fat chance! Too expensive for a loaner!) - ES - IS Regards, Bryan
  6. Wow . . . I just browsed the Hendrik Lexus website . . . you guys are HUGE!! So many cars for sale!! Wish I were local so that I could come take a look :) Regards, Bryan
  7. Wow! 50 loaner cars!! You guys must be a really huge dealership! Do you think that my Lexus dealer might give me a newer Lexus as a loaner vehicle, even though the Lexus I am having serviced is only a 1992? I hope so :P I would be like a nice test drive to see what I like for when I get ou of school in a couple of years :D Regards, Bryan
  8. Well I guess it looks liek I am getting a deal at my Lexus dealer for only $68US/hr B) Makes me feel better when I know other people are paying even more than the already high labour prices :P Regards, Bryan
  9. Ooo . . . I hope I get a nice loaner car like the ones you have got :) I'll probably end up with a Toyota Corolla or something :( Oh well, it is only for a day. It would be fun to try out some of the newer model Lexuses though. I can't ask for much since my car is only a '92 and isn't worth very much anymore :( So, you get charged $93US/hour for service?! That does seem a lot higher than the $68US/hour at my local Lexus dealer. Your dealer costs 37% more! Yikes :o Regards, Bryan
  10. Hello everyone, I have finally got fed up with my local mechanic because every time I get something fixed, two new problems arise. I am going to give my Lexus dealer a try to see how they compare (and hopefully they can get things done right the first time). I was surprised o find that the Lexus shop rate is only $91CAN ($68US) per hour. My independent charges $75CAN ($56US) per hour, so I always assumed that Lexus would charge a huge amount more. Plus, Lexus gives you a no-charge loaner car (I wonder what it will be?). I got a loaner car from my independent mechanic, but that thing wasn't even safe to be on the road! It was a 1988 Ford Tempo with a speedometer and seatbelt that didn't function, it was dirty as ever, and had an anonymous car part sitting in the trunk. On top of that, I got the car with so little fuel that the fuel light was on, and the fuel door release didn't work so I had to use the pull string in the trunk. The car also stalled sometimes while idling. I'm hoping that Lexus will give me something nicer :P Even if they gave me a Toyota Echo it would be a step up from the last loaner. Do you think Lexus would give me a Lexus loaner car, even though the car I am bringing in for service is a 1992? Anyways, the original question, what rate does your local Lexus Dealership charge for service? Thanks! Bryan
  11. Nobody had mentioned anything about price . . . how much does a conversion like this cost? I had my a/c refilled about 1.5 months ago and it only cost me $40CAN ($30US). At first, it was extremely cold, but in the last few really hot and humid days we have had, it isn't blowing very cold (a little cold, but not really cold like it should be) :( I guess I probably have a leak :( Regards, Bryan
  12. I fixed my translation SK :P DCFish, that is well said. I could have said it really concisely too, but I wanted to interpret what SK said line by line to avoid any confusion :P regards, Bryan
  13. Nope . . . it's the crappy body-rusting salt! The roads in Canada are white with the crap (in Ontario at least). Sand is used in some spots, but mostly salt. I belive some o the other provinces (liek maybe Quebec?) might use sand only . . . Regards, Bryan
  14. Climate is a definite factor. I live in Canada and my car must endure months of winter driving with salty roads. Definitely not god conditions for maintaining a car body :( Regards, Bryan
  15. Allow me to translate: You are not supposed to put power steering fluid in your ES300. Power steering fluid is most often used in North American cars. Because you put power steering fluid in your car rather than Transmission Fluid, you need to have this power steering fluid removed from your car to prevent damage to your power steering. Instead of using POWER STEERING stop leak, you should have use TRANSMISSION stop leak. There is a gasket kit for the power steering pump that I used to fix my pump when it leaked last year. Be sure to get the power steering stop leak out of your car as soon as possible. I think this is a pretty good interpretation :P Regards, Bryan
  16. Hmmm . . . that's interesting . . . Maybe I should look in my '92 manual to see what it says about oil changes. Myself and everyon I know faithfully changes their oil every 5000 kms. Well, I guess it can't hurt to change it more often :) Regards, Bryan
  17. Use the following website that searches the inventory of many many scrap dealers across North America . . . Car-Part Website This website is awesome! I have found many parts through this . . . it eliminates having to phone dealer after dealer with a part request. Regards, Bryan
  18. Well, you don't necessarily have to do the angel eyes if you on't want, but I hav very detailed instrutions on pulling your lights apart. It really is easy to do once you know what you are doing. Also, clearing the corners is a snap (and free!), and I think the clear corners look rally good :) Best of luck! Bryan
  19. Yeah, I think I will. I have alrady got the power steering pump from that car :P Standard Auto Wreckers is awesome. I drove an hour just to get the pump there because they are so much cheaper than anywhere else. They also have a large inventory. Probably one of the best wreckers in TO. I have been there the last two or three Saturdays :P I saw another person with a Green ES on Sat July 17 and Sat July 24. Was that anyone from this board? I actually had my motorcycle there on Sat July 24 (cause I was picking up a small part) but I had my Green ES there on July 17. Regards, Bryan
  20. I would use the oven. Opening the headlights and giving them a good clean should make them much more clear. See my previous post on Angel Eyes . . . I have very detailed instructions there. Good luck! Bryan
  21. Hammer, that is just too funny :P I would love to see a pic of a *BLEEP*ing Lexus :P Thanks SK . . . I guess I must have a shot headlight washer pump then. I take a look and see if I can find a pump cheap at the wreckers. Thanks! Bryan
  22. Tundra, Now I know why your name is Tundra Lover :P I always wondered about your name when you are on a Lexus Board . . . it all makes sense now. Thanks for the explanation, and sorry about all the crap that you have been having to endure over the last while. You'll have your Tundra again soon enough :) Blake, Good to hear that you are a hard worker. I respect people who work hard, and I understand your situation :) LivinLrge, Congrats on your purchase! I remember buying my first car with all that hard-earned money . . . what an accomplishment! All of those years of work and saving finally paying off :) I think you got a great deal on the car by the way. Enjoy it! Regards, Bryan
  23. It was probably a smart idea not to claim it with a high deductible of $500. You would pay for it in increased insurance rates. Now, if your stereo was worth $2000 that would be another matter. Still, the whole situation just sucks. It makes me so mad when people steal stuff without thinking of the person they are stealing from. They must be some real jerks. And lazy ones too. They should get off their butts and work for stuff themselves. Regards, Bryan
  24. Hey Brian, Here is a link to a previous discussion on this topic: Center Console Lights And here is another mini thread: Center Console Lights (2) The stupid dealer still hasn't responded to me yet about the bulbs :( Regards, Bryan
  25. That sucks! Did you claim your stereo on insurance? Bryan
