  1. By chance were you a former BMW or Honda owner? I bet you talk on your phone, do you hair and makeup while you're driving correct? Lexus dis-engages the ability to work the nav while the vehicle is in motion....this is called a safety feature. Why would they do something that ridiculous? Because they don't want you to crash up such a beautiful vehicle while you're trying to enter the address in for your hairdresser. Personally I like that feature although at times it is bothersome. But in all honesty, I don't want the responsibility knowing that I drove into a bunch of kids crossing the street because I was trying to enter in a location on my nav..... Not sure what your deal is or why you have to be so nasty and assuming! NO I am NOT a former BMW owner and I don't talk on the phone, wear make-up and do my hair in the car! What is behind your nasty comment about driving into a bunch of kids...Who are you and why do you think you can make such nasty comments to someone you don't even know? Grow up and think before you write something nasty that has no relation what so ever to what the issue. Clearly you either can't read or you can't comprehend. Let me make this simple for you.... I read your post. Jist of it, you aren't happy with the navigation update and the fact Lexus locks out their nav system when moving. Next time you'll buy a Honda/Acura becuase they offer that feature. If Lexus doesn't get their stuff together...you are going to walk. Again....my response. What is the big deal about the nav system being disabled when driving? This is called a SAFETY feature. Why do they have SAFETY features? So people like you who drive and like to fiddle with their nav systems can't. Why? Because Lexus thought it was a better idea to have the driver pull over completly, make a full stop and start modifying destinations. This is so the user has to do one of the following: 1. Do what you're supposed to do when driving....PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND NOT FIDDLE AROUND. or 2. Modify your nav destinations when stopped so there isn't a chance you look away for a second and take something or someone out. Get it? And yes...i did think before I wrote my orignal reply to you. I stopped and thought about how ignorant you are complaining about a safety feature that could potentially save lives...like your own. And after reading what you wrote and thinking about it.....i think YOU need to grow up and pay attention to the road instead of trying to navigate while you drive. I have a BMW as well as 2 Lexus'....all I can say is after being a BMW owner and reading the numerous douchebag posts on the BMW forums....your ignorant attitude fits in the same category as the typical BMW driver. I was reading a post a couple days ago actually on a BMW forum...it was about how ever since this person bought BMW, they've become a much better driver....HAHAHA. It made me think of you!!!!! Sell the Lex and buy a BMW. bokch0y, Your out of line here. It's one thing to disagree with someone, it's completely another to belittle, and berate someone. You were asked by SW03ES nicely already. Please find a way to disagree in a positive manner. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I happen to agree that the lock out feature isn't much of a hassle. But I can understand their point of view and respect it. The irony here is that your post displays the exact condescending elitist attitude you seem to deplore.
  2. No.
  3. Nice vids! So the camera was in the M5?
  4. My offsets were 40 mm. But the rims were 8 inches wide. If you go 9 inches, you'll have to stagger it and go with 8's on the front. And if you lower it, you might have an issue there also.
  5. Oh, and btw, could you not type in all caps? On the forums, people think your yelling at them. :)
  6. So, if I brought you a an IS300 with no key at all, you can make a new key that operates everything? How much $$$ does it cost if you can? It's good to know this if so.
  7. Well, if Lexus is looking to introduce a dedicated Hybrid, the IS coupe and IS hatchback are looking pretty good as possibles. I was reading some other articles regarding this topic. Lexus definately wants to have the first luxury hybrid with fuel ecomony the number one goal. hybrid article
  8. The parts you have listed are fine. And no, you don't have to replace the crush washer, so long as you don't have a leak. It is a good idea to replace that regularly though. I haven't read the oil change how to, but just a note, make sure you do put some oil on your fingertip and run it around the lip of the filter, and I aslo like to add about a 1/4 quart of oil to the filter and "swish" it around in the there real good before installing it.
  9. Then this and the male part of the harness, and the wire diagram for your car should be all you need. Just match the function and color to the correct location on the harness and you good to go.
  10. Ok, Blayd, I hope you understand everyones skepticism here. Anyone with a mechanical background, which is most everyone on a car enthustiasts website, is going to question someone coming in with a 600 hp turbo charged 4.0L V8 LS doing high 10's with no pics, no vid, no time slips, no build thread, and no mechanical experience. I'm not saying you do or don't have that car, I think everyone just want's to know if your for real or not. Which by the way, your gonna get called out alot more as jcrome has done. Your title "Tuner Elite" is not helping your credibility. It's pretty obviuos you have no clue what your talking about if your driving around in a turbo charged V8 and had no idea what was under the hood. I'm just trying to give you some friendly advice here. If your gonna make some big claims like that, you gotta have pics and vids to back it up. So, what are your plans now? Are you replacing the motor or the whole car? Why are you selling the motor again?
  11. So, has anyone read about the new IS coupe that is coming lately? A friend of mine told me that Lexus has announced a new 4 cylinder Hybrid model to be released in response to the fuel economy issues. I have a feeling it's going to be this model. And that's why there seems to be a hush hush about the power plant. IS 250C show in Paris
  12. Great, then when you go to the shop and get the pictures taken, ask the guy what all it has so we can see. :)
  13. I wanna put a 250 badge on my 350..... ;)
  14. You know where the cargo net goes across the back of the trunk? right between there and the net, (and if you don't use the net it still fits right along there)I keep a black knit blanket. When I'm loading and unloading I just pull that out and drape it over the edge. I play alot of golf and so I could foresee myself wacking the bumper with the golf bag. I works great.
  15. Well, until you can that video, just go outside, pop the hood and take some pics, then come back in and load em up here so we can see this beast.
  16. What do you have for an exhaust system now?
  17. NO, it's there. You have to get your head down there and look straight up. You'll see it.
  18. It should be under the driverside dash on the left side:
  19. Just to clearify, your saying a modified torque converter, piggyback computer, a K&N air intake, (not a turbo or supercharger), headers, the best exhaust money can buy, a five angle valve job with ported and polished heads (with aluminum heads and block), can get you around 600 rwhp? on a 92 LS 400, with out knowing anything else has been done to the car? Can the stock transmission even hold that much hp?
  20. Heck, here in Orlando I saw gas jump $1.20 in 1 day!!! It went from 3.65 to 4.85 by the end of the day at the very gas station I filled up in that morning!!!! What the heck is going on?
  21. Especially because that is where the check is coming from. In the past when we have done insurance repairs, we would submit the job for payment using their claim number. Some insurance companies took longer to pay than others because once the repair was completed, they would inform us that needed to contact the policy holder to verify the job was done to thier satisfaction and that they were happy with everything. Once they signed off on the job, then we would get paid. And then there are some insurance companies that just paid, no questions asked. So make sure your insurance company asks you before they pay out. Then it's them telling the repair facility there is an issue and it needs to addressed and corrected before payment is rendured.
  22. Lexi LOL!! I think we actually have a thread that discusses this debate also. Is it Lexuses, Lexi, or what?
  23. Yeah, Bartkat is right. You should wait atleast a month to even a couple of months. And let the car sit out in the direct sun as long as you can to help the paint cure. And don't wax it or anything either. Just wash it with auto soap and water for the first few months as well. Did you know if they used acrylic, enamel, or urathane?
  24. There is a "How to" thread right at the top of this forum with links. Just go there and click on oil change. :)
