  3. So, what's your mechanical background? What are your hp goals? And what are your long term goals for the car? What have you done to the car for prep and what kind of budget are you working with?
  4. It's allways hard to diagnose issues via the boards. I would try resetting the ECU first. Just unplug the negative terminal for about 20 mins. then reconnect it. See if the car relearns idle correctly. If not, keeping in mind that the idle is controlled by the ECU, you may have a vacuume leak. So next I would check all you throttlebody vacuume hoses lines. Make sure one of them haven't come undone or cracked etc. If it's not that, then you may need to take you throttlebody apart and clean it out. Make sure the butterfly is opening and closing all the way and freely. Also make sure all the hoses are connected to the air intake line and especially the crank case breather tube.
  5. well, it's almost kinda cool outside now, it's currently 68. LOL!!!
  6. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I had some family in town for the weekend. ( mischeivious brats my brother calls his kids!!!) LOL!! But we had a good time, ate more than we supposed to, and laughed as much as we could. I hope everyones was as great!!!
  7. Thanks, and welcome to the thread!!! If your talking about the brake calipers, no I didn't sand them. I just cleaned them off really well before painting them.
  8. How much are they asking for the car? A car with that much done to it, you had better know what your doing with cars. You obviously won't be able to go to the dealership and have them repair any issues you might have. Generally speaking, a car that has that kind of list of mods would tell you that they knew what they were doing. I mean they swapped to the gte Supra block and are running a Haltech stand alone. So, Are you familiar with Haltech tuning? This is a high maintence car. So it's all about you man. not the car.
  9. Thank you, and welcome to the thread. LOL!! Yeah, 600-700 whp reqiures a full motor build, cams, head work, and a whole new drivetrain, and untold mods and headaches. All that will be my final stage. I just want a streetable rocket right now. I may push my hp up a little later, but I really want a whole custom car though. So I decided I'm just gonna keep doing it in stages. Once I get the race tranny in and the custom tc in, then I'm gonna spend my time fine tuning the car, and working on the appearance mods again for awhile. After that, next year I will start working on building a GTE motor from the bottom up and new drivetrain to match. Then I can take my time and do everything the way I want. This is my last build. So this car is going to be my car for a very, very, very long time. So I just as well pace myself. Even though I got alot done in my first year.
  10. I would say that is a middle of the road deal. It's hard to really say for sure from just looking at a picture. Does the car have scratches and alot of rock chips? Is there any areas of unusual wear and tear? Get the carfax report. Any accidents? Off the report you can see where the car was purchased and registered. Call the dealership and give them the vin number. see if you can get the service history. I would also look at tire wear, and also that car has 56k miles on it. Which means the 60k mile service will be due just after you buy it. So consider that a 600 dollar(ish) expense. Something to maybe haggle the price down with to help offset that. Any year IS 300 is a great car. 01-02 interiors have bit more plasticy parts in it and no arm rest. Also the cd players are notoriously crap. Other than that, they are great cars. 03 came the arm rest and better dash materials. 04-05 has memory seats, arm rest, in dash compartment with a lid, and the cd player that replaced the junk one they originally used, although they look identical.
  11. You should be fine. I have 18x8 on mine, and I run Tein CS coilovers with an inch and a quarter drop, and I haven't had any rubbing issues from lock to lock. The 40 mm offset is just about perfect. But I would make sure that the inch and just under a half is the max drop though. More than that and I think you may start having issues.

  13. :) Das wat I'm talkin bout!!!! Yo Flop,,,,,,,Welcome to the luxury suite. LOL!!! Yeah man. Look great bro. You will not regret that at all!!!! As time goes by and you learn all the cool things it can do, it's just amazing that people pay 2-3k for a stock system upgrade that isn't half of what the AVIC is !!!!! If they only knew how ripped off they were getting!!! And the finish looks great to me. You had mentioned how you weren't sure about the finish of the face plate. Looks like they used the same install kit I used. I think it looks as stock as it can just about get. 42 degrees!!!!!!!! DAYUM!!!!! Das COOLDDD!!!! it was 83 dgrees today here in Orlando.
  14. I don't know if we can believe you,,,,,I mean,,Heyoceanfloor, do you see any proof of owning an AVIC? Yeah, me either. I was called about one, We have talked about one,,,,,,,but I don't know............................................LOL!!!!!!!!!
  15. This is Smooth 1 posting. :) My brother lives in Round Lake Park, and I have other relatives in from Waukegan, Highland Park area. But we were raised in Wausau, Wisconsin. Everyone has just moved around since then. I think you should be fine. I lowered my car an inch and half and I have no rubbing issues at all. So I imagine that if you put a tire on that is larger by an inch and half, you won't have any rubbing issues either. Usually the rubbing would happen from a wider tire issue, not so much the diameter. The 215/65 should be ok. Your speedo will be off though, so remember that as well. So if the speedo reads 55, you will actually be speeding.
  16. Shoaib, I have family in from Wisconsin and Illinios this weekend for the family Thanksgiving Weekend together. Please accept my apology for the posts earlier, or any other posts that happened. My Nephew here is very sorry for something he doesn't really know anything about. I don't think they realize what our LOC boards are. I of course know that 215 is the width in millimeters across the tread pattern. And a 215/60/17 is the same as a 215/40/17 in width. the only difference being the 60 is about an inch to an inch and a half taller. My nephew does know cars very well, I can't explain why he wrote what he wrote. He should know better as well. My deepst and humblest apologies to everyone.

  23. If your just going to do the alt. and bat. then you can just get some heavy gauge wire at a local audio shop and just switch em out. The Hyper ground kit I got from a distributor, but I think I saw one like the one I have at L-Tuned. I think it was about a hundred bucks. But that kit beefs up the entire ground system for the car.
