  1. Any and all Lexus dash lighting needs (repair and customization) can be taken care of here as well. Lexus Lighting Systems
  2. I hope his question is answered by now, this thread is over a YEAR OLD.
  3. My suggestion, go somewhere else. I have a 92 SC with "17, the car will always ride better and be quieter with the stock "16's. He's and idiot. I work in a tire shop so I know a little bit about them. As far as your future tire choice goes, If comfort and durability or more important to you than overall levels of grip, I would suggest the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V. It is NOT a performance tire by any means, but it is rated to 149 mph, it is a Grand Touring Tire which focuses on noise and comfort over grip at the race track. :D
  4. Tires will help that some, the stiffer sidewall tires tend to tramline more. But the biggest help is to get the car aligned, when you do have the mechanic toe IN the front wheels slightly, it will help the car track straiter and tramline less.
  5. If its a 4-spd then yes. If it's a 5-spd auto then no.
  6. Falkens are made in Japan. They are a wholly owned brand of Sumitomo. The F1's would be a waste of money for your mom. It'd be like hunting rabbit with a bazooka. The falkens are also going to be quieter and ride better than the G-Force. (I've driven both) Holla if you have any other tire questions. (I work for NTB. National Tire and Battery)
  7. yes, the TURBO SC3 guys will rape most things on the road. Just like most turbo Supras do. HOWEVER the original question was a STOCK SC4 vs. a STOCK Z. I just refreshed my memory of the 350Z today...and sadly yeah it is that much faster. (Although I still think most of the credit goes to the 6-Spd). Oh and a 2JZ-GTE equipted SC3 tuned right and running TT's or a single big snail vs. any of the Turboed 350Z's out there tight now..... Not even a contest, the Supra...ooops I mean SC3 damn near every time.
  8. ok...so what do you think of the SC400 VRS. the Infiniti G35? speed, comfort, features, etc.... ← Well, I'm a little biased b/c I own a SC400. But If I had to pick, I'd probibly take the G35...I just cant afford one :D And the SC430 runs 0-60 in 6.5 and the 1/4 in 14.2 @ 97mph Still quick, but not fast. Compared to the M and AMG...well it's best not to compare Those types of cars are in a different leauge. MB doesnt have a AMG that takes longer than 5sec to reach 60. And the SC isn't going to run with a M anything in the twisties.
  9. This sounds like great news to me!! I was told by the Lexus dealer that I need new upper control arms. This sounded strange to me, as I couldn't imagine why the "arm" would be bad. I was thinking about just replacing the bushings, but didn't know if that was sufficient. So, is it possible for the actual control arm to "go bad" or do you think I would be in good shape just replacing the bushings? ← No, it's still bad news. Lexus does not make a replacement bushing for the UPPER control arms. Only the LOWER. However if you google search VFT Bushes you will find a company that makes OEM style replacement rubber bushings.
  10. 350Z would shame most pre 1997 SC400's. The later 300hp SC's could run with it but the Z still has the advantage. It has an option for a 6-spd. 1995 SC4 - 6.7 sec 0 -60; 15.2 @ 93mph 1997 SC4 - 6.3 sec 0 - 60; 14.7 @ 97mph 2003 350Z - 5.3 sec 0 - 60; 13.8 @ 101mph Overall the SC is a much nicer car however. A more relevant comparison would be SC400 / 300 vs. an Infiniti G35 Sports Coupe. Supra vs. Z SC4 vs. G35....makes more sence to me.
  11. Ok, Skip the K&N you wont see any performance gains with it on this car. The Stereo is the bane of many a SC owner. IF you want an after market system plan on these things MINIMUM. - Custom wiring harness or Hardwired Head Unit - Custom mounting brakets and Custom Face plate for the head unit (No good kits around) - New Head Unit - New Amp - New Sub (If you want it to go in the stock location you selection is pretty limited, BUT you will still have a trunk) - New 4" Componet Speakers for the front doors (Not nessisary, but HIGHLY recomended) - New 4" - 6 1/4" Speakers for the rear (much more room to work with in the back) - New Speaker Wires. Now most of the electronics can be had for a resonable price. And making the Face Plate and Wire Harness isn't very hard or exspensive. BUT installing every thing is a GIANT PITA!!!! And evey stereo shop knows it. I have been quoted some insane labor prices. So if you can install it all your self go for it. hope this helps. -Rob
  12. JPI, Who makes the bushing replacements for the upper arms, and do you have replacements for the rear?
  13. Hi Guys, So my SC4 has reached that milestone in it's life know as "bad control arm bushings". It will happen to most of us. If I have heard correctly the symptoms of this are: - Loose or Drifting steering at high speed - Harsh Ride - Wheel jerk over bumps and tramlineing - Squeaking over speed bumps In Extrme cases: - Clunking from the suspention when backing up. Mine has all the symptoms except for the clunking. HOWEVER, the problem with this is that there are not many choices availible to fix this problem. #1. Daizen Sport Bushings - Least Exspensive Choice - Will last Practiacaly forever - Will squeak if not regreased every 3-4 years (PITA) - May have a harsher ride than stock. (Dont know about this, bushings were pretty much gone when I got the car) #2. VFT Bushings (Andrew Valmos Bushings) - Quite a bit more exspensive - High quality OEM replacement - Stock Lexus ride qualities - Must be ordered from Australia #3. 1993+ Toyota Supra Control Arms - Same arm Less Money!!! ($253 per arm vs. $552 per arm *Lowers*) - Bigger (Stronger?) bushings in the Supra Arms - New ball joint comes with the arms #4. Lexus Replacement Arms - OEM part - Exspensive So here are my questions to all of you who have done this before: - Those with the Daizen Bushings installed, How does the car RIDE vs. stock? (I know handling will be better, but I like a nice ride too.) - DO the supra arms fit without any other mods? - How much labor were you quoted to get the bushings replaced? (Just Bushing replacement. Not the whole control arm) Any feedback on this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks. P.S. on a side not the labor times for replacing the Arms according to ALLDATA are as follows: - Front Lowers 3.8 Hours per side - Front Uppers 3.1 Hours per side - Rear Uppers 1.5 Hours both - Rear Lowers 1.7 Hours both
