  1. I have an 06 which sadly didn't have any wood trim. I found a reddish wooden steering wheel on ebay and had my mechanic put it on. It was advertised as a wheel for 04-08 RX 330-350 but it fit my 400h. I also had erroneously bought one that looked exactly the same but it was for an ES 330...the only difference that I only saw when I really looked at it closely, was on the back of the wheel...mine needed "pegs" or "Male" type protruding fittings and the one that didn't fit had indented spots instead,"Female" for a lack of a better term. YOu CAN'T just replace the section that has wood...but there are companies that will convert your wheel to any wood that you like....I saw that also on line. Good luck. Rey
  2. Has anyone else bought the Harrier emblem and or the Thundercloud grille? I get so many comments about mine...I love the look of my car and the front lip adds even more to its uniqueness. Just curious...happy holidays this fine end of 2010!
  3. Well, I can't wait, the Paradas are sounding more and more like what I have been looking for this past year of researching. Here in L.A. they will be a perfect tire for me and the reviews are stellar. I think that my Toyos, which have been really good, still have another 10K in them, they have 35K on them now but still look great....but I am going to try the Yokohama Parada Spec X s next. This site has been great, thanks, Rey in sunny L.A...even on November!
  4. Ah, it looks like you have just a few more thousand miles on your RX than we do on ours. I just got back from Costco and installed a fresh Kirkland battery ($58.00). I fully expect to not have to do this again for another 5-6 years. (Our RX is now 5 and a half years old.) Good call! Rey
  5. This is really good to know...In my case, the battery was 5 years old and they did check it and it did need replacing. I guess we should all be careful with this little battery!
  6. I started a new post on this to make sure everyone benefits...but in a nutshell, YES, it was indeed the 12V battery...NOT a shopping bag as one owner was told. I got mine replaced right then and there so I paid a lot...$170. +tax....but when you see the warning, "Shift to P to start" or whatever it says, go and get a new 12V. Rey
  7. I just got back from Lexus and sure enough, as some of you already know, when your car doesn't start and the display reads, "Shift to "P" to Start". and it's obvious that you are in PARK, you need a new 12V battery. I opted to let Lexus do it so I paid the premium,$170 + Tax, but if you see this, you can go to somewhere and get a new 12V put in. Rey in LA... Oh, and yes, like "Katzjmr" mentions below....be sure that the battery needs replacing...mine was 5 years old and it was confirmed that mine was gone.
  8. 53K Miles on it Dave...I am taking to Lexus this morning and seeing what they say. I hope they too agree that there's something wrong with the battery and that will be that. I bought it brand new in Jan 2006 and it has been an amazingly reliable car and need for it to continue to be so. If it's just a battery thing, no biggie.....every car will go through that...I just don't want it to be more serious...but I have been relieved reading these postings from all of you. Rey
  9. Well, guess what? yep, the same exact thing happened to me this morning...came out to my '06 400h...told me the same thing as you..."Need to be in "P" to start....it was already in "P"....then more of the same..then the little engine light...then nothing, then the steering wheel was going in and out...finally after a few long minutes, it finally went to "READY" and I was able to get to work. Thankfully because of this forum, I remembered this topic and I made an appointment for tomorrow morning and hopefully it is just the battery...I really don't want it to be anything more serious...I need to have this car be reliable as I am and not have this happen again. Thanks for this post! Rey
  10. Great info from everybody...I think I am going to get either of the Yokohamas, right now the Paradas Spec Xs are in the lead...even though I will have to get used to the slightly smaller tire again...which is fine...snow? I have heard of it, seen movies with snow....not a concern for me here in L.A. nor am I the adventurous type and go look for the stuff. This in itself makes buying tires easier for me. Moderate temps year round. Thanks for all of the help, I never would have known about the Generals, or Alenzas or the Yokohamas....Rey in LA
  11. I think it feels a little better but to me, it looks so much better...remember, it is just a wee bit bigger...only 1/2" all around but when you see it side by side with another RX...the slightly larger tire is a better fit. All that being said, if I like the Yokohama Parada Spec X tires when I am ready to buy...I will go down in size since the Paradas don't come in the preferred 255/55/18". No biggie...the tires that I have now look GREAT...they are Toyo Proxes STs (40k miles on them now)...maybe it's that they are wider that makes the 255/55 look so much...TONS better. Just personal preference, that's all...like shoes....
  12. Yes Dave, I have been looking into this, as you know, for almost a year now...it's been fun actually...and I think in about six months I'll know just what to get...but now, it might just be the Parada...the only thing is that I would have to come down to the original OEM 235/55tire size...which will be fine...I like the slightly larger 255/55 but it's a small difference. The Parada, at least from what I have been able to find out, doesn't come in the 255/55/18" that I have on my car now. Thanks again, Rey
  13. These tires just came out in March, and were recommended to me by a Tire Store. Cheaper than the Latitude Tour...don't know how it compares to your favoured tire, and it's too new for many reviews, but the few that are posted at tirerack.com are positive. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVID+ENVigor+%28H%26V%29&partnum=355VR8ENV&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes I know an Accord is not an RX, but here are some positive reviews, with many remarking on the quietness of the tire http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44339 There have been several more reviews of this tire since I posted the original link.. http://www.tirerack.com/survey/SurveyComments.jsp?additionalComments=y&commentStatus=P&tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVID+ENVigor+%28W%29&tirePageLocQty=# http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=129 Thanks, these are on the top of my list now...the General Grabbers were getting too many people unhappy with balance....these seem to be better for me here in L.A.. Thanks for all of the posts...I still think that I have about a year left on my Toyos...which have been fine but I like variety. Rey The Yokohama Parada Spec X is sounding really great to me right now....I read up on these and sure enough, the seem great. Thanks!

  15. You know, they are just a little larger,3%...it's fine...I have never had any issues. They look better a bit wider and they are only 1/2" all around larger. 255-55-18.
  16. Well, thanks for all the info...it seems that you are right, there have been some issues with balancing on the Generals...so right now I put the Yokohama AVID ENVigors at the top. 255/55/18. I WILL NOT go to the small size again....
  17. Nope...still best tire...I will be getting them within a year. Every tire I have researched...actually every product there are always some issues people have had but this tire...MORE pepople have loved them. So, it's STILL the best tire for me.
  18. Yes, here in SoCal, hybrids pay off instantly. When I am stuck on the freeway, there is a calming aspect to my car being "Off", not doing anything and not polluting at all during those traffic jams. I think the info about the Volt is wrong...but anyway, people will hate things until they understand them.....there was a time when there weren't enough paved roads nor gas stations and people thought nothing could take the place of a horse....well, here we are again... My hybrid just feels better than any car that I have driven and the CVT is awesome...the "No shifting" is the most fabulous thing that I DIDN'T know about my car when I bought it. If you are in the midwest, none of this matters...but here, it ALL matters. The aggravation on the freeways, the pollution, gas at $3.35...stand still traffic.... I grew up here in the 70's when pollution was ghastly....I know it was the EPA that changed all that but hybrids help. Now that I have finally made some money, I like to help where I can. I thought this was a Lexus "HYBRID" site...why is there so much nasty negative talk about this car? Just keep driving your gas only car and be happy...I will do the same with my 400h. Eventually I will get the electric only. Expensive, yeah but new technologies are paid first by us with money and then eventually everyone will be able to afford it..it was the same when I bought my firs computer for about 2 grand and it was NOTHING like what I have now. With the electric vehicle... I have the station at my school parking lot...and the cars go a lot further than 40 miles...what they mean is that they can go 40 miles before the gas engine has to "Help"..now do you see where you are not understanding? So for me, I CAN go anywhere pretty much without the gas engine to kick on.....You know that the electric car HAS a small gas engine as well, right? It's the opposite of my hybrid.... In a couple more years, you'll be able to go 100 miles before the gas turns on to help.....Remember your first computer? What was that like and how long ago was that?
  19. Yes, exactly...I live in LA area, probably more hybrids are driven here in the SoCal area than anywhere else in the world and with good reason, traffic is slow and gas is well over $3! I've had mine five years and I think it should be fine for another five. It's long been paid for so I just don't think about a non hybrid now. My next car I hope that I will have a full electric. In five years I think it's realistic to say that I will have options and the electric stations will be all over. The school that I teach at, Art Center College f Design, being known for car design...has already had electric stations in the parking lot. Anyway, happy trails. Rey in SoCal....
  20. I don't know what a drone is...but I don't have it...my car just goes and it goes fast..the 350 never feels as good...but I guess that's why we can all buy the car we want. I always like getting my car back and I like dropping the RX350 off. It feels more like the Ford that I had for a week, the Ford Edge...except the Ford Edge handled corners better than both my 400h and the 350....but that was really the only thing...But I had to admit, the Ford felt cheaper than either! But the 350 and the Edge both had that transmission that shifts and I don't like that any longer and I can feel it in everyone's car now.
  21. The difference on the freeway is very different. The two times that I have had the 350, I didn't like the shifting on the freeway and I hated not being able to smoothly and very quickly accelerate while going 60plus MPH. The 400h is just a lot better.....I have had mine for 5 years so I guess the extra cost has paid off but the feel...well, I can't put a price on that CVT transmission. I want to have this another five years and so far, it feels like it will be fine for that long and I will be able to sell it pretty easily....I hope....it will have about 100k on it by then.
  22. Great, thanks...I have heard that they are amazing tires. They are going on my 400h in less than a year I'd say...the Toyo Proxes S/Ts have been great though and are lasting a good while.
  23. My Lexus dealer did the 60k service a few months ago. $468.90 total. Labor = 286 Parts = 144.61 G.O.G. = 11.75 State Tax = 26.54 They did all the usual inspections, replaced the AC filter and Air Filter, replaced the brake fluid, replaced the wiper inserts, did a battery test, replaced the PCV, replaced the gas cap gasket, oil filter and oil change, & rotated tires. Great! This is exactly what I have been asking for..not advice about doing it myself...I just don't do that...just what it cost and that's it....Thank you!!!! Rey
