  1. I agree...this isn't an old Bronco, I would not mess with an RX and especially a hybrid RX. Trade it in. I personally don't need AWD with a luxury hybrid SUV...maybe get a Jeep? Subaru?
  2. Apparently the ONLY person that didn't like them was the mystery person mentioned on this post. Before I bought them I researched for over a year and watched this forum...nothing but great reviews on this tire...but as I said, to each his own. I can only speak for myself but this is a great tire...I can see someone liking something better but NOT liking it doesn't make sense to me. BUT someone always has to be the one that says "I don't like it" just to feel superior, no matter what the subject is.
  3. Didn't like the Parada? I guess they didn't like a smooth, well handling tire. I live in So Cal so maybe it was a weather issue. I don't have to deal with bad weather so maybe it was something that I wouldn't know about...like snow. Anyway, it's a great tire. To each his own. Rey
  4. It's still early (2,500 miles) but so far my Yokohama Parada Spec Xs have been very nice...great,great tire.
  5. The reason that I used the word "Arbitrary" is that there was not ONE explanation with my bill. I had to call and keep getting bounced around until I finally got a person on the phone that could care less that I was annoyed. I even said, "Listen, you,not the you that is manning phones, but YOU, you drive, you are a person, how would you feel if this happened to you without an explanation?" . I finally got a little bit of humanity out of the kid in that his voice changed and softened...but he is being recorded so it's not like he would say something like,"Yeah dammit, lets take the man down!", like in some movie in my head..... So I now have a different company and pay a little less..but still a lot. Now I also have a person with a phone number to HER office if I ever need anything explained to me. All I want is to be acknowledged.....Thanks for all of the great info on this post that I started. Rey in very expensive, LA...but it's my home and I love it here.
  6. Thanks everyone. I am currently working with someone that is looking into this for me. Dave, that is a GREAT price and I would imagine SD and LA should be comparable. $1,780 a year is just too much!
  7. I actually understand that costs go up...I just did not like the reason and the fact that there was nothing along with my bill to explain the much higher rate than what I have been paying for the past 5 years of having the same car. When I did finally get someone on the phone I didn't like their attitude....I hate smugness and that's what I got.
  8. Great posts, thanks...I got a great quote from Wawanesa...a friend of mine is with them and has been very happy for 17yrs with this company...anyone else familiar with them? If I go with Wawanesa I'll be paying less than before my rates went up...from $1,434 to $1,336 per year...I live in L.A. so I think we pay a lot more than the average American here...for everything! If I told you how much my home is....never mind! It's ghastly expensive here. Rey
  9. Could be but I have had my hybrid over five years. This is just so wrong...I should start getting quotes from all over this week. So wrong......it is getting so hard to deal with all of the rising costs of everything...anyway....lets see if anyone else has been hit with this....Rey
  10. I just got my car ins. bill, I pay every six months. I was surprised to see that my insurance jumped up to more than $170 from the last bill. No explanation in the bill, nothing. I am a great driver, no tickets etc. I have been with 21st Century for over ten years and as with any car I have ever had each bill gets smaller as the car ages...right? So I finally got a hold of a live "representative"....and I was told that there is a new evaluation of cars and now my car got reclassified! So this seemingly arbitrary reclassification is going to cost me almost $350 extra each year. I live in L.A. county....has anyone gotten this flagrantly dishonest bit of garbage? Please respond and I am sorry if this is not an appropriate post, please accept my apologies and take it off, but right now, I am livid. Of course I am now looking at quotes from other companies. Thank you all. Rey
  11. I just had lunch with a buddy...I told him that I got new tires, Yokohama Parada Spec X...and he said he got exactly the same thing for his Infinity FX35! We both independently picked the same exact tire. He has had his for about 3,000 miles and just loves them. Oh, by the way... our car feels nicer than the Infinity.
  12. Did you end up taking your car in? I'm dealing with the same issue right now. I recently replaced my battery (battery was bad) hoping the ISC Reset would stick... but no luck. No, I took the car in for its 60k...I had to educate them about the ISC...I did the ISC reset myself as per the directions left on this forum and it DID work for me...I keep very detailed records of mileage and it is now back to what it was before Lexus replaced my 12v...it is up between 1.5-2 full MPGs like what I was used to...I'm at a round 26MPGs again...for a while I could not, no matter what get it out of the 24s on any full tank...no possible way and it seemed weird that it was so sudden after my battery was replaced...they didn't see the oddity in that...it's not their car....
  13. Thanks for the update! Any difference in MPG? What tires did you have before? Also, what area or conditions are you mostly driving in? I live in San Diego so I'm looking for something like RXREY but probably won't go wider to the 255s like him now that gas is so much more. I too, live in San Diego and as you know, we've been getting our fair share of rain, lately. The Paradas have handled that with ease. I was running Bridgestone Alenzas, which were very good tires up to 30,000 miles when they started humming. Perhaps I waited a bit too long to rotate them (6000 miles or so) - don't know, but the noise was driving me crazy. I normally buy my tires at Discount Tires and initially, they said they would match the Tirerack's price. However, they later told me they could not but then told me they would check stock and get back to me. A day and a half later, (too late)they did. I ordered from Tirerack (direct ship to Big O tires) and paid the following: Tires: $640 Shipping: $60 Mount and balance: $58 Lifetime balance & rotation: $40 Total cost: $798 Dave That's great Dave, I spent well over $900!
  14. Cool. Thanks for the update! The Paradas are at the top of the list. I live in SD so I'm in the same position as you in terms of driving conditions. Mind if I ask how much you paid and where you bought them from? I got them at Discount Tires for $187 each. You can price shop but I like the convenience of where the store is at. I saw them on Tire Rack for a lot less but with shipping and waiting for them to ship, I am not sure if they would be cheaper but shop around. Discount Tire had them the day after I asked for them. I don't like to wait so it was worth it for me. Rey
  15. Thanks for the update! Any difference in MPG? What tires did you have before? Also, what area or conditions are you mostly driving in? I live in San Diego so I'm looking for something like RXREY but probably won't go wider to the 255s like him now that gas is so much more. I just got my Yokohama Parada Spec X tires put on...they seem really great...of course this is only my second day! I did drop down again to 235/55 and each tire is 4lb lighter...my MPG jumped up from 24s to 26 after I did the ISC reset..no exaggeration. I started with the higher MPG until my battery was replaced and all of a sudden my mgps went down...now, thanks to this forum I now know why. Anyway, the reviews on the Yoko Paradas has been so,so high that I could not resist. I'll keep everyone posted...reminding everyone that I live in Socal where weather is never an issue and I don't drive to anywhere where the weather is a factor...don't ski, etc.
  16. Please keep me...us posted on the strut situation...if it is all four and how much this will cost. Rey in L.A.
  17. Thanks so much...All of you have put my mind at ease. I will take Dave's advice and just bring it up the next time I take my car in for service. They have taken care of my car for the five plus years that I have owned it and Chris, the man that I always deal with, has always seemed honest with me. Thanks guys so much...oh, and so far...one day Lol...my tires feel great! In my garage my tires used squeal like crazy as I turned them now they are silent...so far they are fabulous and look great. It has even been VERY rainy here for L.A. and I feel safe and secure...I CAN tell the difference and I did like my Toyo tires...but it was time to try something new. I can tell that the new Yokos are smaller than the 255/55/18s but I'll get used to that. Fabulous! I am happy and not so nervous any longer. Rey
  18. I just had my 60K service and Lexus suggested I get new tires. My Toyo Proxes STs had 45K on them, 255/55/18, and I had been researching for about year and decided to get Yokohama Parada Spec X tires (I went back to the original size 235/55/18 since the tire doesn't come in the 255/55...). Anyway, the guys at the tire place were surprised that I just got my car back from a $599 ,60K service because they suggested I need front and rear struts and front control arms. Lexus should have seen this right?...Anyway I was quoted $2,700! Let me know your thoughts anyone...grateful for any opinions...I don't know much 'bout this kind o' stuff. Any advice would be appreciated. Rey
  19. I took my RX 400h in for its 60K service...runs like a top...I am also getting my Yokohama Parada Spec X tires tomorrow...anyway, I took in the tsb about the ISC and the man that I usually ask for at LEXUS had not heard of it...I explained that I did the reset myself and that ever since my car has jumped back up to 2gMPG just like it used to be before my battery (12v) was changed last year. I take too good of records for me to not notice every little point change so 2 full MPGs is significant. He now has the bulletin and hopefull that little education will help others that will complain as well about the sudden drop in MPGs. Once again, thank you LEXUS forum! You guys are great. 20. Oh yes, there is something not right! The lowest that I have EVER gotten in the five plus years that I have had my 06 is in the 23s. I highest I got (this is all on one tank) is 27.1. It dropped down to averaging 24 then I did the ISC and now I am (my fourth tank after doing the reset) is in the high 25s,low 26. There is definitely something not right with your 400h and your LEXUS dealer should know what to do or what the problem is and fix it.
  21. Please remember that the picture in this link that you posted is of a Lexus RX 330 or 350..NOT 400h. The front bumper is different (compare the pictures that I just posted with the one that you posted) so if you do get a body kit, the FRONT has to fit the 400h. Rey Bustos in sunny L.A.
  22. I got the parts for about $8. each and I got them in less than a week. I have now received three deliveries from lexuspartsnow.com and have been very pleased...and it is still easier to navigate through their website easier than the others...but now I can compare prices, thanks, Rey
  23. Yes, mine is like that, maybe a little nicer...when I got mine there were the side and rear options as well...I just did the front since I already had the step bars. I don't remember the site or manufacturer since all that I did was GOOGLE "body kits, Lexus RX 400h". The thing to remember is that our 400h is different than the non hybrid so make sure that you get the right front end add on. I still get a million comments after four years of having the front lip and now with the chrome HARRIER grille and emblem...it looks like a very unique and (in my opinion) very cool car indeed. Here are two pics..one is before I got the Thundercloud grille/emblem but with a better overall view of my car with the front bumper lip.
