  1. Well, I got them and they are terrific. The ride back home was smooth and quiet. The problem has been that Lexus hasn't done an all four wheel alignment and I am making them do that and they are not charging me. It's THEIR fault that my Good Years only got 13K. I got the TOYO Proxes S/T(255 55, 18") tires for $135+tax each and I didn't have to pay for anything except the tires...I urge everyone to MAKE Lexus do an all four wheel alignment....Rey in L.A....the "squeeky wheel".
  2. jditom or anyone else that may be able answer this...when you have a tire pattern like the Toyo S/T or the Hankook which is very directional, like a "V" or "Arrow", how do you rotate the tires? Do you have to have someone take the tires off the rim? If you don't, don't the patterns end up going the wrong direction? So if you put the one the was on the front left and then try to put it on the right side of the car, is the "arrow" or"V" not now facing the back of the car? I hope that wasn't a dumb question but well, I just can't figure out waht is done. Rey
  3. I'm getting the Toyos in a couple of days and I'm pretty jazzed. I don't ever see or go to see snow and in SoCal I don't even see much rain so if that's an issue with the Toyos,it's not for me. They are a great tire company and ,well, there's a certain symmetry about having Japanese tires on a Japanese car. This is my choice, kind of like the fact that we all buy different shoes. Good input on this site but my choice is Toyo Proxes S/T. They look great and are supposed to be great also. 255/55 18" is only a wee wider than the 235s and from what I've been told,it'll be just fine and at $137 the price is right as well. I'll post pictures soon. I can't wait to have them on! Rey Bustos, excited Lexus guy in L.A.
  4. jditom, what psi are you running on the Toyos? I will have mine put on this Thursday and figure I will ask to have them at 36psi,maybe 38 as I have on my GY OEMs. Any suggestions? Rey
  5. I agree with the fact that the Bridgestones are great and I almost went that way but I am a SoCal guy and we can be a little superficial out here in LaLa Land so I not only heard great things about the Toyo S/T Proxes, but they do look really great!!! That's what did it for me to be honest, but I wouldn't have gotten them if they weren't great as well. They are supposed to be terrific as far as ride, they are quiet, and they look more agressive and I loved the pictures that jditom posted. I didn't read about the winter aspects of the tire so I can't answer that but since I have never seen snow on the ground except one time when I visited Vermont, I didn't pay attention to that aspect, L.A. is not a weather problem area! Oh, and they are less expensive at$135ea., I have seen them for $127.
  6. BTW...when those tries are rotated...how do they keep the tire pattern facing the correct way? They are an arrow design so do they have to actually take the tire off the rim????? That just came to me...any answers? Was that a silly question? Rey Bustos, confused and bewildered in L.A...but aren't we all in LaLa Land?
  7. I didn't know either except I reread the first post of this string and saw that it is written, "Toyo Proxes S/T". That's how I knew what to order. Oh, wait, you wrote that!....anyway, I did find 255/55 18" and I'll have them put on Thursday,4-5-07, and will keep everyone posted as to what I think about them through the first year. They better last longer than 13K miles as what was the case with the pathetic Good Year OEMs that came with my 400h. You're right though, Good Year makes some great tires for example, but the ones on many of our RXs weren't the good ones! Thanks for letting me in on the Toyos, I hear their Proxes S/T s are great! They cost $135 ea. Rey
  8. Rey Bustos,L.A.,Lexus RX 400h owner here.... after seeing the pictures and reading about these tires, researching them...I ordered my own! Thanks for the info everyone and I am looking forward to having the TOYOs on my "Princess" next week. I think she'll look less like a princess but then that's a good thing!
  9. Rey Bustos,Lexus man in L.A., there's another post that I wish mine was a part of because I keep seeing emblem questions and I have the emblems and dammit, I think that they look great! Now everyone in town knows that my Lexus is a hybrid!...it's really hard to miss.....
  10. Rey Bustos, Lexus man in L.A., Five months and still no change in the MPGs so I think that's about it for that matter. But as I said,I didn't take the rack off for that reason but a lot of people asked about that so there it is. I think that Lexus is just the best car made...rack or no rack, great MPGs, great reliability...the list is long.
  11. That cargo mat from Lexus looks great plus it has the Lexus logo. My RX400h came with a carpeted cover, anyone else get this? So when I need to put things in there, often, that might hurt the tan carpet, I simply turn the carpet over to the rubber side. Yes, I can still open the compartments with no problem and they stay open. Just a thought. Rey
  12. I haven't heard anything in the dash but I did post earlier about the rear rattle and for me it was two things:the back seat backs when the seats are all the way back, tighten and create a noise with the vibration of the car, normal vibration. So if you put the seats forward a bit you'll notice that the seat backs loosten and voila, no rattle. The second rattle for me was from the two tabs that locked the privacy screen. They need to be pushed forward otherwise they rattle against the tail gate! That's it. the RX is SOLID, it's the little things that were simply vibrating so now my car sounds the way she's bulit...solid. Happy trails, Rey in L.A.
  13. I had a RX 350 as a loaner when my car was being serviced (my 400h is pretty new at one year old so that means I've only had a loaner twice) , initially the 350 has a real,"pull you back into the seat" that is not present in my 400h,but that's it. After that the 400h smoothly but very quickly gains in every other way. Does the RX350 have the continuous drive transmission? It didn't feel as smooth as the 400h. The 400h is faster and smoother by far. I am always glad to get my 400h back. One thing that makes it so much more effective is the lack of the belts that lug the engine in conventional gas-only cars. But as long as it's a Lexus, we all have a great car! happy trails. Rey
  14. Great post, thanks. Let me just ask, I can run my 400h on regular unleaded? Have you noticed any difference in mileage, power? I've only ever put in Chevron premium. Rey
  15. I know, the tile is just awesome! Well, the car too,but I have one of them. The last time I saw tile like that in a garage was at Hearst Castle! Very cool....Rey
  16. Great info, thanks guys...again! What would I do without ya? Rey..not a car savvy guy in L.A....except that I have a nifty one.
  17. I think that here in L.A. ,"Discount Tire" and "America's Tire Company" might be the same company....they have their Alenzas listed at around $175 but I'll ask them in person if they could match the $152 from Tire Track. Thanks for the idea. Rey
  18. I just found out that Tire Rack will deliver to an authorized tire store near you! So the one that I found is three miles away so I can order the tires through Tire Rack and they will ship them to the tire place and they will put them on! Wow, how cool is that? Rey
  19. Brodys? never heard the term but it sounds like when i say "Dukes of Hazzard" driving, right? So I really want to get tose tires now! Rey
  20. Rey Bustos, lexus man in L.A. here again.. 4 months, still no difference in MPG withiout the roof rack. Maybe a touch better but I think it's because I have my tires at 36 PSI now instead of 30 or 32,whatever the deaer had them at...too low..anywho, It's hard to say but the point is, there's little differece and NOT a reason to take off the rack. I just didn't like the roof rack at all, my 400h looks great without it. I love this vehicle more and more as time goes by.
  21. Tom, do you have me mixed up with "RX400h"? I don't have the Alenzas...yet! Dave, I love that dave got them and they look awesome and I want some also! Please let me/us know how they are ,how they feel, etc. I can't wait! Maybe I should order them now. Do you then take them to Lexus to have them put on? Local tire/discount shop? Like America's Tire? Please advise. I hate my Goodyear RS-A tires. Rey
  22. That's what I want, any bit of advice and your opinion is appreciated. Thanks, Rey
  23. Since you're only getting one I can't imagine charging you but if you're only getting one and they DO charge you....buy it. They are really nice. I have also noticed nice hybrid emblem designs on other vehicles as well....Ford Explorer, a Saturn hybrid, etc. The point is is if you see a really nice design that catches your eye...contact that particular dealership. NO ONE will really distinguish between makes of cars by looking at a hybrid emblem. Even my hybrid emblems that are from a Prius...no one has ever asked if they are from a Prius or anything at all like that. Once it's on the car, they are from that car and no one will question that. As I said, now I'm looking to see all of the other emblems on other makes. Take care and remind them that you have just spent a mint at their dealership and I know here at my dealership they are great at making you feel valued....because we are! Rey
  24. Tom, Lexus putting on the emblems to appease me? Yes, I like to think that! hehee.... Oh, yes, "Argelius" the emblems can be ordered through ANY Lexus dealership. They can get any,ANY part they want. All they have to do is contact Toyota. The only reason that I went to my Lexus dealership instead of calling a Toyota dealership, since the emblems that I got are for a Prius, is in the hope that if I went through the dealership where I bought my Lexus that they would give them to me gratis...which they did, which means I was right! So, don't let them play dumb...I know, they're car salesmen, but don't let them play dumb. They CAN get them. Now, whether they will let you have them free is another story but at $30 an emblem, it's worth the effort to try to see if they'll let you have them. Happy trails, Rey Bustos in L.A.
  25. I saw that also but didn't like them as much as what I did...but then, I'm a better designer for my own vehicle! yes, I do believe it's on the 07s. I took a long time to decide where they would look best on the sides...more towards the front, back? So the point is is that it was my choice, not the dealer's or the exterior designers. I teach at a school,Art Center College of Design, where many of the world's best car designers graduate from and I get to see how all of these "little" things get worked out design wise. It's fascinating! I really enjoy accessorizing and that's the only thing that I miss about my old PT Cruiser! Take care....Rey
