  1. I too wanted mine to stand out from the rest but I simply added the front lip seen here on my little personal icon picture thingie....Rey
  2. I'm interested in the rear one...thanks for posting the site! Rey
  3. Update and getting this post closer to the one that someone just posted about the same or simliar problem.....Four months later and all is well. I don't remember what the dealer said this was, the sounds during sow driving such as in and out of parking spotds...but it was annoying but it was seemingly a simple fix. Rey
  4. Mine was fixed ...look at my post titled something like..."Loud clanking noise in steering". I was told what it was but I don't care what it was called, I simply hated any sounds coming from an expensive car. It was an easy fix. Rey
  5. Thank you for being a good sport ... as some would get their feathers ruffled. BTW, I too, am famous for spelling 'whoop'es'. But taking it in stride as you did? That's a true sign of character. Rey, you forgot one vowel ... the infamous 'Y' . . . as in 'sky' ... sorry ... there's so few chances to use my useless info/trivia. :P Ah, yes, the sneaky, little "Y"...why oh why did I forget the "Y"...anyway, you are all gentlemen...and women... and scholars and I am so glad to have found this very informative forum. I have learned a lot about my car and issues that come up have always been explained to me by people that I trust more than a dealer employee. Toodle-loo, Rey in L.A.
  6. Don't worry about it, it was indeed endearing, we were just being facetious. .....(F-A-C-E-T-I-O-U-S....I went on to the next round of a spelling bee with that word! it has all five vowels and in the correct order.) Happy trails, Rey in L.A.
  7. I loved the spelling bee! Thanks for the chuckle you guys...oh, and for the braking info. I only noticed that when I first bought the car and if it happens now, I simply don't notice it any longer. Their, There, They're..... Rey... (yes, this is the way I spell my name so please, do not correct me!)....
  8. Yes, I have written a lot about this just search "Emblem" and you'll see my posts. I have found many, they are very easy to get now that there are so many hybrids. The best that I have found and have on the rear is one from Ford. Just go on ebay. You can't get the one that comes on the new RXs because they are embedded in the sde moulding. Rey Bustos in L.A.
  9. LinDarLex, I felt that you were a wee bit facetious and I'm sorry if you thought we were less than courteous. I for one am glad that you started this topic and I learned a lot from reading all of the advice...especially from SWO3ES. He really knows his stuff considering he had a detailng business! His posts were so illuminating. This is why I love this forum. I've gotten a lot of advice about tires for example and I was so glad to have had so many and varied opinions. As I said before, there are many cars out there to choose from, many makers, just get something that will make you happy and not so stressed. I'm not married to Lexus, but it is in fact the best car I have ever had...it's all realtive though...but I have always done best when I've had Toyotas including my first. As a 16 year old my first car was a used 1970 Toyota Corona Mark II that I kept until I sold it in 1991. It was amazing...rear wheel drive,4speed manual transmission...that little thing peeled out! The only times I've had bad car issues were the three times I tried American cars and I will never do that again...sad to say...I'm done with them, as much as I love this fine land...when it come to cars, I'll go Japanese from now on. Happy trails...warmly yours, Rey in L.A.
  10. Suck is such an insipid word for grown ups to use, can we use another word? Just get a Ford and be happy. I love my 06 400h and it has a great paint job. Of course I live in a great part of the world, SoCal, but it has been great in every way. Lexus isn't for everybody but it's the best car I have ever had. I just had a Ford Edge as a rental after I was hit and damaged a good amount of my front and if the paint is better on the Edge, the car certainly isn't! I was glad to dump that car off after two weeks and two fillups as opposed to one and get into my Lexus again. 13 days of that car, ugh. After a 100 years you would think that Ford could make a great car like Lexus but Ford simply can't. I guess they got the paint right though,eh? Happy trails, Rey in L.A.
  11. LinDarlex, I'm really sorry to hear of al of the trouble that you had with your dealership. Here in L.A. I have NEVER had such a consistantly fabulous experience with any dealership. I love these folks at Glendale Lexus, they have always treated me great and fixed any issue that I have ever had. In contrast to you, I will ONLY ever have a Lexus as long as I drive, partly because of the experience that I have had with the Lexus team. I am so picky about customer service that if I felt as you do, I would get another car lickety-split! Hope things get better for you, Rey in L.A.
  12. Yes Tom, I do think that the steering feels better but then even after they fixed that loud clanking sound, I had always had a little of that sound when I would turn sharply out of a parking spot so I am just happy that that's gone. But it is really smooth. Anyway, let me tell you about an insident a few weeks ago...I had someone bang my hood with a laundry cart as I waited for a lunch order, very irritating and I watched the whole thing...anyway... I am now driving a 2008 Ford Edge rental. It's pretty interesting. The Edge feels so much better on curves and the wide stance and lower design makes it look nicer than my 400h but it doesn't feel as nice at all in many other ways. It simply doesnt feel as elegant and the interior looks like a toy. The onboard info has me getting about 16-18MPGs this week which is not good. The transmission is Ok but now I can really feel the gear shifts as opposed to our CVT. The one thing that I felt sad about was that the Edge is quieter than my 400h on the freeway! But overwall, there is little that the Edge can offer me. The 400h is just an amzing car overall.....It'll be nice to get my car back and take back this Ford...as OK as it is, it's not a LEXUS! Rey
  13. Fixed. It was a little thing and they gave me a nice ES350 to use and fixed the loud clanking sound. Easy fix apparently and my car is perfect once again. It might just be in my head but I really feel that this car is driving better at 35K miles than it has ever. I also like that I found all of the little rattles that were bothering me. That helped a lot in my driving pleasure. Let us know if any of you get that loud clanking sound after they do the recall work. Rey
  14. Oh, that's good to hear because I did like the feel of that gizmo as I sat in the car but the car was in the showroom so the opinion about not being able to work the joy stick and drive was presumptuous on my part. I did love the look of the screen set so far into the dash. Anyway, Lexus is a great car maker no matter what. Rey
  15. Wow, I guess all of us are having to have this recall thing done so maybe someone else might experience the same thing. It seems as if the problem has subsided but then, I did hear a little of it tonight as I pulled out of a curb parking spot. Lets keep each other posted. Rey
  16. Hi everyone...help. I have an 06 RX400h. I just had the 35k check up/service at my Lexus dealership and now when I am parking or turning out of a parking spot, I hear a loud, sharp, clanking sound as I turn the steering wheel. It just started happening. It's only when I am inching and slowly moving, never when I drive. The dealer did a recall fix (free of course) for a steering issue that apparently the RX hybrids have during this 35K checkup and now it's making this loud noise. I thought that I might run this by you smart folk before I go to the dealer. Has this happened to any of you? Do any of you know what this might be? Thanks, Rey
  17. I have a 2006 400h and I just went in for my 35K riggamaroll (2-18-09) and they had a 2010 Rx non hybrid in their gorgeous showroom. It had few things that I did like. The one thing was the fact that the back wiper is at the top and hidden under the air foil. Very cool. The shape of the car was OK but I do feel that ours is nicer still. It had some nice chrome trim that I always like on cars but overall it was fine but I was happy to drive off with mine later. The nav looks great where it's at, set deep towards the leading edge of the windshield but as was mentioned, it is out of reach so that you have a joy stick on your center console that you have to move around which I wouldn't think you could operate when driving. I often times tap my screen as I'm driving...from map to info screen, etc, without any danger or problem. This wouldn't be the case with the joy stick. Anyway, other than that, we are all fine with our "Old" Rxs. I was surprised to see this new car on the Good Year Eagle S/A s though...I thought after all of the hoopla about how bad they were that they would have opted to get rid of those terrible tires. They had some RXs ,08s mainly, on not only Michelin but also Bridgestones. Happy trails, Rey Bustos in sunny L.A. (yes, even in February!)
  18. I wasn't being facetious, I really had never heard of such a thing! Yes, I live in L.A. so I never see snow...it will be 80 this Friday and it is January! Anyway, I still think that the original post sounded a bit over the top, if you don't mind me saying. If you can afford this car you can add whatever you want to it. I have spent a lot just adding stuff and making it my own , so just thank goodness that you can have this car. Nowadays many people don't even have a job for Pete's sake. Just my two cents. Warmly yours (literally) Rey in sunny L.A.
  19. Rain sensor works great on my 400h. Heated windshield wiper?, c'mon, there has to more important things to complain about. I guess for you it's worth getting a refund, I don't get it but to each his own. Be happy and get what you want. Rey
  20. Do what I do..... Live in California! It's January 2009 and it has been 80 degrees...it's been fun reading this topic, thanks...I'm off to kiss the ground now. Your Lexus buddy, Rey in sunny L.A.
  21. Man, I need to talk to you RXRAY! I only have one annoying-as-heck rattle at about 70 mph from what sounds like the back seat and it sounds like a tin pan rattling. In my mind's eye I imagine it is a thin sheet metal cover over the traction batteries that has come just a little loose, but I am probably wrong. I will certainly check your posts as I am sure that I am not the only guy with this rattle. You can call me Rey... About your rattle...have you checked the privacy screen latch locks? They are the little spring loaded tabs at the rear hatch area. I don't use my privacy screen so when I first had that rattle it drove me nuts until I realized that the tabs had to be pushed in so as to not have contact with the shut rear hatch...or you can also put felt pads over the contact points on them. See if that's what it is. Let me know if that did it. The other thing that it might be is the rear seat backs. When not being sat on, I always have the rear seats pushed forward. The rear seats have a backing that loosens and tightens depending on the seat position so when the seats are pushed back the seat back tightens and at certain speeds it vibrates against the main seat frame and when they are pushed forward the seat back loosens and ,voila, no sound. OK, that's it for no. If this doesn't do it let me know and I'll give you more. I have fixed about 8 different rattle points and I mean it, my car is silent at any speed! I HATE any kind of sounds and it was OK with past cars but I wasn't going to accept it from a 50K Lexus! Rey in L.A.
  22. Welcome Brian. I was one of those that bought their 2006 new and it was a lot of money. I love my 400h and the only thing that bothered me were the many little rattles but if you look at my many posts on this matter I fixed them all. They were all silly and easy fixes but I was still surprised that Lexus didn't catch them before I did! My car is silent now and feels like a million bucks. I LOVE it! Happy trails, Rey
  23. Thanks! great advice. Rey
  24. Thanks so much Jim. I do like Toyo tires very much. They seem to make a fine tire all around and would like to stay with that brand but get a less aggressive tire pattern next time to assure a quieter ride. Rey Bustos in sunny L.A., yes, even now in December it's almost 80!
  25. Although I subscribe to Consumer Reports online and appreciate their objectivity, the reviews at Tirerack represent MANY more miles of driving by actual consumers in every kind of vehicle imaginable. The General Exclaim UHP's have over 8 million miles experience in the 1000+ reviews. As previously stated, they are in the WRONG category at Tirerack. They ARE an A/S tire, although not a great snow tire. If you live in the great white north, you probably need dedicated snow tires in winter for the RX400h. If you want an A/S with the best snow performance, that would be the ContiExtremes, we had them on our Audi S6 and their performance in extremely slippery conditions was outstanding. The Audi Quattro AWD system is as good as it gets and that made a big difference, but the ContiExtremes went through conditions with ease as good as any dedicated winter tire. I don't think they come in a size for the 400h. The General Exclaim UHP deserves a look by anyone wanting an A/S tire but doesn't need really good snow performance throughout the winter. A/S means all season I suppose....I'm in L.A. so weather is not a factor...sorry, I forgot to mention that important little detail! Rey
