  1. I have a 1999 ES300 with 110K on it. I had the Timing belt and 100K maintenance done at 106K. At any rate, I have a new problem. The car starts fine, but will not hold idle. I have to keep the pedal down to keep it running, or it will stall. When the problem started I could hold the pedal down for a minute or so, and then it would hold idle, till I stopped it and let it sit a while. However that does not work anymore. I can hold the gas down for 10 minutes and it still wont hold idle and stalls. Any thoughts? There is no check engine light with this problem. The car seems perfectly fine and runs smooth, it just will not stay running. There is no smoke, no wierd engine noise, runs great, but dies when I take my foot off the gas.
  2. Ok, I have been trying to sell my 1999 Lexus ES300 for some time now, but every time I think I am about to put it up for sale... Something else goes wrong. I have replaced many parts, and I thought I was good to go, excluding my Fog lamps which are both out. I looked for the fuse, today and found it, but its fine, so it must be the bulbs. However I am writing as there is a larger problem. I recently replaced my Battery as I found the old one, which was not that old, lost charge quick. Well now my new battery is also dead after sitting for 4 days. Something is draining the battery while the car is sitting in the drive way. Any ideas how to go about finding the culprate? Could it be my fog lamps? as the problem seems to me started the same time the fog lamps went out.
  3. I have a 1999 Lexus ES300 that I have been trying to sell. Anyway the car has been sitting for a while and I drive it every once in a while. Recently the battery has not been able to hold charge very long. Yesterday at lunch break I drove the car for about 45 minutes to get the charge back up, and parked it like usual. So I left work tonight planning to drive the Lexus home and wash it, but when I got in the car, and turned the key, the car just made a clicking noise, and all the dash lights came on, and the speedo moved up and down. But the car would never turn over. Just click click click click.... Any ideas what happened from yesterday to today?
  4. Yeah your ES looks good! Anyone else? Would love to see your custom rims on your ES to give me a better feel of the look I want. Thanks ALL!!
  5. Personally, 17" wins IMO. Reasonable tyre price & big choice, ride quality pretty similar, much better handling/ cornering, good looking size too. I would go 225/45/17, but you may prefer 205/50/17. Any bigger and you will upset rolling diameter & comfort, 18" max and then you will need 35 or 40 profile . Dubs are for the teen set, they look wrong on an ES, plus the economy & acceleration suffer. Thanks, I was thinking 17" in my mind but wanted to check. Now to find a rim that will make this car look sexy! lol I dont want it to be to flashy, just a classic handsome look if you know what I mean. I am 33, so no longer a kid. lol
  6. Hi all I am a proud owner of a 1999 Lexus ES300. The car has 15" rims that winter has taken its toll on. Next spring I plan to get new rims and tires, and was wondering, how big of a rim can I install before I greatly reduce ride quality? I like how the car drives now, and do not want to change it too much. Thanks all!
  7. I just got a 1999 ES300 with 87,000 miles for $7,200. Drove it home and the VSC light came on, and a day later the check engine light! lol I called the dealer tonight, and he was cool. Just said to bring it in to his mechanics and they will fix it at no cost to me. I took the car to AutoZone and they tested the car, and it said all 3 O2 sensors needed replaced. I have no idea what caused the VSC light to come on, but the Dealer seemed to be well aware of the Lexus VSC problems and he said it would be fixed.
