  1. A friend of mine has a 1992 LS400 with a 6cd changer. THe guy who sold it to her said the cd player worked. Well in a brief moment of stupidity she put her 6 favorite CD's in the cartridge (instead of putting one in to make sure that the CD changer did in fact work). Upon her first attempt to listen to her CD's they would not play and the cartridge won't eject. That was a month ago, and she still cannot get her CD's to come out. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated since her brother has decided that he will just take the CD changer apart-which will probably end up in disaster! Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
  2. I was wandering if anybody in here has added performance cams to their SC300. I did a search in this forum but nothing came up, so I was wandering if anybody has had any experience with performance cams and if there were any performance gains? Thanks
  3. I cant see the picture ya'll are talkin about
  4. If I am remembering correctly, you can't clear "91 taillights, The actual light is painted, there are no colored lenses. I'm going to have to agree with AWJ on the SC300 with the Supra lights, it looks terrible- they make the back end look big and ugly.
  5. Dude, move to Tennessee, we dont have the front plate law yet <knock on wood>
  6. Red and white 2 tone. Dude I wish I had a picture of that
  7. Really?? Dude I believe you. Oh well I think I won- he says its a midnite blue color almost navy but not quite. And that SC you were talking about definitly aint navy.
  8. Your right, The clear bottom tail lights are awesome and they are totally a DIY project. There are pictures in the SC gallery that show pictures of each stage of the conversion and there are vague directions under the pictures-they'll get you through the project, but here's some pointers. First of all, as a warning, this is not a Saturday morning job, allow yourself 2-3 days to complete it. (1) Get your self 2 orange and 4 red 1156 bulbs, a sheet of diffusing plastic, a heat gun (comes in handy), some sort of tool to cut the diffusing plastic (drimal tool could work well), and a friend. (2) Take the tailights out, they are kindof hard to get out, but after several minutes of pulling and jiggling the light, it'll eventually come out. (3) After the lights are out, your going to start working on one light at a time. Put your light in the oven at 250 degrees for 5 minutes. Watch when you take it out, it's hot. Use a screw driver or something to pry the frame apart. *There is a rediculous amount of glue holding the frame and the rest of the light together. It took me and a friend 5-6 hrs. to pry both lights apart. If you don't have a friend helping you, it will take a lot longer. (4) The glue will start to harden again in 5-10 minutes, so just keep reheating when necessary, the heat gun comes in handy when you almost have a section pryed apart and then the glue starts to harden and you can reheat the section right there with the heatgun and continue prying. (5) Once you get the frame apart there is a bunch of glue that holds the frame that houses the lenses and the third frame with a bunch of silver sheets on it. Heat that glue and kind of pull it out, then pull the lense frame apart from the silver frame. (6) Pop out the lenses you'll never use them again. *If you are as frustrated as I was at this point you can smash them to pieces if you like! (7) Next cut the diffusing plastic to take the place of the lenses. It is almost impossible to put the diffusing plastic in as one piece. So cut it in pieces like the lenses were. (8) Glue the diffusing plastic in the frame where the lenses were. I used a hot glue gun, but the diffusing plastic has started to come unglued around the edges, but it's still holding the diffusing plastic in thier. (8) After all this put the lights back together by using the oven or trusty heat gun to reheat the glue and put the frames back together. You may have also bent the edges of the main frame that took like 6 hrs. to get apart, so just use the heat gun to melt the plastic back down. (9) Put your new light bulbs in place of your old ones. **Remember they're 1156. It's going to be a little difficult to get your lights back in because your edges are going to be bent, but fit them in thier and when you screw the bolts back in, they will pull the lights back into place perfectly. Then put the interior carpet back in and your finished! Remeber, this will take more than one day. It took us 10 hrs. and that was 2 people it would take one person atleast twice as long. Your probably going to get extremely frustrated, but it's worth it! Remember to get 1156 bulbs. And remember to check the SC gallery and get the pictures of the taillight conversion, the pictures are very helpful! Oh and in thos directions it says there's a screw holding the lense frame in, but there's really not one, it just pops out after the glue is out of the way. And on the light that has the key hole, your going to have to brake that little clear ring surrounding the key hole (on the lense frame) to get the frame out! Well enjoy your new lights and these directions! I hope they're useful. Don't forget to post up when your finished and let us know how it went. And if you have any questions just ask! Good Luck!!
  9. Dude your awesome! Thanks for all the pictures, I appreciate it! I'm starting to lean toward the assumption that there is no factory dark blue SC300. Which makes me right and him wrong!
  10. I'm going to keep looking until I can find something. . . if I can find something, I don't see why it is so hard for me to find this out- I've been looking for about an hour or so. I'll be seeing him tomorrow, so if he brings it up, I'll just make him a lil nervous (he really has no way of finding out cuz his enternet is down). But if ya'll find out anything else please post it. Even if I'm proven wrong-I'm starting not to care as much about the bet, now I'm just really curious and I want to know if blue is a dang factory color! Anybody in this forum have a blue SC??
  11. I have to agree w/ you UCF, the blue that that SC is sportin doesnt look like a typical Lex color. Ya'll have any ideas where I could view an old SC300 brochure online to check this out??
  12. So, Soarer1023, are you saying that it is a factory and that I just lost this bet???
  13. A friend of mine has a '97 SC300 and he has an Injen intake. His came with his turbo kit, so I dont know if the intake was special made/ fitted for his year model to be included in the kit, or if it just fits all year SC300's. I would assume that it would fit all the years. Especially a '96, since SC's are usually categorized '92-'96 and '97-'00.
  14. I have a bet going on with my friend about SC300 exterior colors. So this is the dealio, he says that blue was a factory lexus SC300 color, but I dont think it is. I have never seen a blue SC on this website or anywhere. Well, except for aftermarket paint jobs. And I remember the dealer telling me paint colors when I bought it, and I don't remember him saying anything about blue, cuz I would have jumped on that! So I say a blue SC300 (not 430) is an aftermarket paint job, he says its factory. Am I right? Please tell me I'm right!! :( Any replies are greatly appreciated! (Especially if they prove that I'm am right!) Thanks ya'll
  15. You said you checked out tail lights for your SC, and they cost over $1000. That is true, but why pay $1000 for tail lights when you can make them for less than $20 and they look excellent!
  16. I've found some W58 5spd. trannys on ebay (i'm going to check out other places also) for $2000. A clutch kit for $109 (which seems low). How much is everything esle going to cost? Labor charges are not a problem- I have soemone who would do it for me. Any estimates on the cost?
  17. My car was leaking oil, so a mechanic friend of mine looked at it and said that I needed a new rear main oil seal. Upon hearing this I freaked out because I knew that in order to get to this seal, the tranny would have to come out = Lexus dealer would charge me an arm and a leg to do this. But luckily I found someone who will do it for a lot cheaper. Anyway, I was thinking that since they were going to pull my transmition anyway- I might go ahead and put the SC300 5pd tranny or the SupraTT 6spd. tranny in. The mechanic told me that it would'nt be worth it, a clutch kit alone would cost around $1000. So here's my questions: (1) Would it be worth it to switch trannys, or is it going to be more expensive and entail more work than having a manual is worth? (2) Would it be more difficult to put the SupraTT tranny in vs. the SC300 tranny?- Which would be better? Any input is appreciated! Thanks!
  18. I have heard that the SC300/400 comes stock with forged pistons. Now I can't remember where I heard this or I'm thinkin I might could have dreamed it, I dont know. So that's why I decided to ask ya'll. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks!
  19. I have an SC300 and I'm planning on taking my gold emblems off to put on some chrome ones, I'll sell you mine for less than $300 def. It might be just a little while before I will be selling them though- but not too long. Let me know if your interested
  20. So all ya'll saying that the IS300 tranny cannot hold anymore horsepower than stock???? You have to be kidding me. The SC300 has the same motor and the stock tranny can hold up to around 500 hp. Please someone tell me, how much hp can the stcok tranny hold??
  21. When did the Lexus !S300 debut?? Was it 1998, 1999, or 2000?? I'd reall appreciate it if someone filled me in on this. Thanks
  22. Is it really that easy to get to the ECU?
  23. I have been looking all over the internet for some 18" or 19" Enkei Aegis chrome wheels, but I'm having trouble finding them. I have found plenty of pictures of cars (including Lex's) sporting Aegis', but only like 1 website that sells them, and it's really vague when providing info. So, if any of ya'll know of any websites that sell a wide variety of Enkei's I would really appreciate it if ya'll would let me know! Thanks!
