  1. wait, sorry, i read that wrong. Yeah 3k at 60 mph with O/D sounds about right (unless its wrong in my car too.)
  2. 3K at 60mph is high. My SC is auto and when I'm at 60mph I'm around 2,200 rpm's. When I have my overdrive on I'm around 3k at 60mph
  3. I think you can buy some lights straight out of Japan, but they are really really expensive. I have "cleared mine" (clear bottom, red top) so you can do that. I have seen a picture of a Soarer with totally clear taillights, but it was just a picture-no directions so I don't know how it was done, but completely clear didnt really look that good- but that's just my opinion.
  4. I was in another lexus forum back in the summer and I remember reading a post by a guy that said his SC had 400,000 miles on it and it was still going strong. Hmm . . . impressive . . .
  5. I was reading through SC300 performance upgrades on intellexual.com and I came upon this small article . . . ELECTRIC FAN CONVERSION: Summit Racing catalog sells a bolt-on Flex-a-lite 210 dual electric engine fan kit for ~$190, which replaces the stock belt-driven engine fan. This modification gives you an extra two inches of clearance in front of the engine block (good for forced induction setups), and relieves the engine of about 20-30 horsepower. - (info provided by Hermosa). This mod has been shown to work on the SC300; However, the SC400 fan mounts are slightly different. This modification is currently untested in the SC400. Is this for real? It seems to good to be true- a 20-30 hp gain for $190. Am I reading this wrong? What are ya'lls thoughts?
  6. Jb, I would really appreciate the help, I'm not familiar with it at all. thanks. I do keep the money in the ashtray. And when I bought my car the actual cigarette lighter didnt come with it - which I dont want it anyway b/c i dont want anybody smoking in my car
  7. Right now I feel like an idiot. This exact same thing happened to me last winter. I dont know if anybody else does this, but I use the little compartment beside the cigarette lighter as a change stash. Well, a nice, little, stupid!! dime has fallen into my cigarette lighter and once again shorted out my AC and my Heat. I dont want to waste money to get this fixed like I did last time. This is something really stupid and I cant believe I let it happen again!! Is there anyway I can fix this problem myself (since it is just shorted-out)?? Any (and i mean any) help that ya'll can give me would be very very appreciated. filling quite stupid & angry, OneHotLex
  8. I remember reading somewhere in a forum (did a search and cant find it though) about a Lexus Calender. You send in a picture of your car and it could be selected and featured in a calender. Is this right? and can pictures still be sent in??
  9. How much does the Borla exhaust cost?
  10. I just recently completed the Taillight conversion explained in this forum (red top, clear bottom), and it looks great! I love them! But to anyone who is thinking about doing this, I must warn you it is not a Saturday morning job. I figured it would take around a couple of hours. But it actually took me and a friend about 10 hrs to complete the taillights, but I believe it was worth it. First of all, the oven technique does work quite well, and it's nice to have a heat gun on hand as well. The amount of glue and the glue itself that holds the light together is rediculous. It took us around 5 or 6 hrs. just to get the tailight, frame, and lenses out. Cutting the diffusing plastic is kindof hard, we ended up using a machine that cut keys to cut the plastic, and then we used a drimal tool to file any unneeded. Fitting the plastic in the lights is really hard, it's practically impossible to put the whole piece of platic in at once, it is best to cut it into sections (like the lenses were). And the plastic also doesnt fit in by itself so we used a glue gun and it worked pretty well. We used a heat gun to melt the glue and stick the taillight back together, we didnt use the oven b/c we were afraid it would melt the hot glue and the diffusing plastic would fall out. We also had to melt some of the plastic edging on the light to form it back flat like it was before we started trying to prying apart in the beginning. The light bulbs used were 1156 (2 orange, 4 red) I dont know if I would do this conversion again b/c it took so long and at times it was very frustrating. But it looks really good and I have had several compliments on my lights. I would suggest anyone who has time and patience to do this b/c it looks really hot.
  11. I just recently did the tail light conversion ( and I must say it looks great!) and the bulbs I needed were 1156. Now my SC300 is a 1996 so I dont know if the 1995 and 1996 use the same bulbs, but if they do, than that is your problem. Actually, i have a quick question, did the oringional bulb you took out have i prong or 2 prongs ( lil rubberish places) ??
  12. Alright, I'm still not sure if I'm going, but if I do I'll meet you in NC or ATL. Keep ya posted.
  13. I was gonna get 19" wheels but I heard the low profile tires that you have to use make for a rougher ride, so I am goin for 18"s. I suggest a body kit and a BFI or short ram, lower it an inch or so, go for a chrome grill, and some dark tinted windows are pretty sweet for that "mysterious driver" bid.
  14. ASU! Even better! I don't live in Arizonia, I live in Tennessee, but I've checked into ASU and I might apply there next year, the only draw back is the high out of state tuition :(
  15. Hey SunDevil, do you go to Univ. of Arizona??
  16. Sorry to add to all the questions, but if I get the lowering springs, that's all I need right, I don't have to have new bushings or anything else as well do I?? I mean I can just pop them in and lower it and it's done right? (I know there's more to do than "pop them in", but you get what I'm sayin) Sorry, I don't know a whole lot about messin with suspension. Thanks
  17. Hey, do you have a picture of your new grill you could post?? Where did you get the "roof gutter mesh"? So I am guessin you didn't have to take your bumper off, can you post the details to how you did this or email them to me. Thanks, let me know!
  18. I was thinkin about going, but I'm in Nashville. What time would you be passing through Tennessee? Not sure if I can leave earlier than midnight Friday night.
  19. C'mon don't get irritated at me, I wasn't directing it toward you, I agree with you about the modified stock airbox- it probably is the best way to go, I was just stating another option that would do well. I was talking to bubbles. Bubbles, your right about pointing the hose directly toward the intake, nope it isn't good. I agree with you in that pointing the hose toward the frame at the IC is the best option.
  20. Hey, if you do try the chrome grill thing, let us know how it works out, how it looks when your done, and if it was hard or took a long time! Good luck!
