  1. Auto Bell. Get the very basic, great. Of course I usually do my own but have used auto bell twice after New Hampshire in the winter and was impressed. Paid about 7$
  2. Not even so much about the wax as the prep. Waxing is only the final step of a rather detailed process. The ONLY wax I have used in 15 years is Collinite #845 Insulator Wax. None of you will ever use it because you will never locate any. Should that happen, you will know why I say that.
  3. Yes, although the law is in contradiction to the Federal Communication Act of 1934 and several subsequent rulings, the law remains intact? Either way a ticket for detector is a non moving equipment type violation. With all the new electronics on cars they are invisible. You can even buy Garmin type navigation units with radar detectors. Besides, with a V1, the work even pretty well even inside the console.
  4. I've never been known for a light foot but there is wayyyyyy too many cops out there now equipped with all kinds of nasty revenue generating equipment. Not much for them to do anymore than catch you. Best to hang at 10+ of less unless you are willing to get bagged. I hate it of course because I could easily run 90 or more but as you all know, revenue is everything. Sad to say that driving in America has now become where the cops are more dangerous than the robbers
  5. Oh I just love the S series 500 550 600 as they are beautiful and apparently very dependable and certainly drivable cars. Having had such love for my previous Lexus vehicles,I just couldn't jump ship.
  6. Well, just ran this new IS250 AWD about 500 something today. I noticed that in the section where the limits were lower I averaged 29.4. However, once I got in the higher zones and ran 75, dropped to about 28. I'll call that good especially since unless smart phoners, I accelerate off the line. Nice car, ver comfortable so far.
  7. My Corolla lights were faded and I cleaned them a few times and they went right back to dull. I ordered new assembly on Amazon for $61 and put them in. Probably a lot more for some cars though.
  8. Oh yeah. Just a quick 1800 mile trip to shake this thing out. I will say I am excited about this. After driving the ES330 and my wife's RAV4 for awhile, I am prepared to enjoy myself for a change. Don't be looking for me to post any impressive mileage ratings as I like burning 93. I use either Sunoco (the offical fuel of NASCAR) or Costco. If I can't find either, I'll use any Top Tier 93.
  9. How bad is the gas milage? I figure this car will get around 19/25 (AWD). As far as your window goes, sedans are nice and quiet.
  10. My ES330 developed a problem with the driver's side, outside rear view mirror years ago. When it gets cold, sometimes 1/3 to 1/2 of the mirror turns dark. Of course I drove the car in Boston most of the time and they aren't used there much anyway.
  11. The BMW and Audi cars tend to develop expensive problems. Not that Lexus problems aren't expensive they just don't occur. I have a fiend who is a 35 year BMW mechanic and he drives a Toyota. When I asked him why? he said because I don't like having to work on my own cars. Just before I bought my new toy, I almost bought a beautiful BMW M5 owned by a friend of mine. Yeah, I was tempted but then common sense prevailed and I bought another Lexus. Chrysler products? seriously? Not one person one this forum would consider anything except perhaps that nasty new 707HP Challenger (just for fun). As the previous poster correctly suggested, Honda luxury cars look just like the regular Honda cars. I could never see much interest. Acura needs to make a big V-8 RWD/AWD luxury car to be taken seriously. Cadillac, a nice unit BUT made by GM and I have had tons of GM cars and they all broke all the time. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, everything is great. Denny
  12. I've never had any experience with German cars so I appreciate knowing that. Of course this is also my first AWD car unless you count my wife's RAV4 which I try to avoid driving. Ahhh, what the heck, in the sport mode, this little IS is a blast. I already priced how much new tires are so I will probably treat them better than I would have. Car is a blast. Heading out early tomorrow for it's first Interstate run so will let you all know how that goes. As Merle Haggard would say, I've got a bad case of white line fever. Denny
  13. The green light means your fog lights are on. I don't think there is a headlight on icon. The other green light is the Eco light. All confusing and I'll agree, not too clear.
  14. Ha, understood. Guess you don't want them blinding oncoming cops either. I adjusted the headlights on my LS400 and Corolla in the past but not on these IS cars.
  15. On my new iS AWD I notice that the tires are staggered. Fronts are 225/40-18 backs are 255/35-18 I've never seen staggered tires on a AWD vehicle before. Any thoughts on this?
  16. I doubt lowering your car will require headlight adjustment unless you jacked the back up or something. As long as the car is the same level from to back, it should be okay. Since there is no vehicle inspection in Cali, it shouldn't make any difference anyway.
  17. Ha, I'd still have to leave on outside even with a six car garage. Hmmm, assuming it was empty... My IS250AWD My nissan Frontier A black corvette 6 speed A new LS 460L And leave a few spaces open for shopping
  18. I plugged it into one of the USB ports inside the console. No connection. Not a Bluetooth, just an iPod
  19. I kind of knew I wasn't going to win. Never did get a ticket so....
  20. I see the icon, but it is gray. I can input using auxiliary jack, but not USB. It just can't be that hard can it?
  21. I lost one of the keys for my RAV4. Replacement cost was only $458 and took two days to get.
  22. Certainly sounds like a plan. I could easily live in a shack if it had a huge garage attached.
  23. My friend is an independent BMW mechanic. Many of the newer cars require expensive software and even then, much is proprietary. The older I get, the more I like newer cars.
  24. SOmewhere on the other side of my garage is my 66 Cutlass F-85. I think I even have a 1972 Honda CB-350 twin in there somewhere as well. I have cars all over the place which has it's good and bad points.
  25. exactly. I have some Indi-Toyota guys that are great. Finding them is always the issue.
