  1. Certainly didn't expect all that to come up but hey e-gas, let's just say from prior experience and many wrenches, I'll toss a chip in your direction. Opinions are just that but you sure have you right to them.
  2. Of course in awhile you'll end up having to shell out $720 for the other headlight because having them different will eventually drive you crazy. Seen that happen before.
  3. Went to Costco in Norfolk this morning to fill up the big ole Silverado. $2.75 for regular $3.05 premium
  4. Since I have had to move my ezpass units from car to car, I no longer have the Velcro strips to attach them to the windshield so now they are just laying on the corner of the dashboard. After about 10 years they send you a new unit with new strips otherwise I have no Ida where to obtain them. I use painters tape to hold the passes from sliding on the dashboard.
  5. Wow, that seems high. Haven't seen gasoline over $3 since Hawaii. Pretty much $2.75 - $2.85 around VB.
  6. Upon arriving home after some tropical activity, I was very happy to see a package from UPS. Inside was the K&N air filter I pre-ordered from K&N before I left for my car. Apparently is is a new design so they were in production because auto parts stores couldn't find them so it was online time went to the website, ordered and then was delivered as promised. Happy me. Well, well, it was every easy to remove the original filter and insert the K&N and then close everything back up. The old filter was as thick as a brick; dense, thick paper filter which was much thicker than the K&N replacement. According to the box, it increases this filter will increase the airflow by a significant amount, almost a third. I had to go out for a test drive and it seems to really being sucking in more air. Luckily, no local authorities were around so the tach needle swung a couple times. All reports are good. Hopefully this will improve power and economy. I have these filters on all my vehicles and gotta give them a good rating.
  7. Some high powered V-8 Fusion looking thing. It won the best of the new cop cars on Top Gear against the chevy impala (Holden) and Hemi chryslers very incognito vehicles but fast and nasty looking if you look close.
  8. The new Ford Pursuits seem to be the vehicle of choice around Virginia Beach.
  9. Oh yeah, pretty obvious. The next time I roll through Jersey, I'll keep an eye out for you and the wicked one.
  10. Thanks Lenore. Oh I still wrench but now for my neighbors kids who can't afford to fix their old cars.
  11. Almost my whole life I bought used (well used) cars and repaired everything on them myself. I had to be the very last owner of over a dozen cars before they went to the boneyard. By NOT ever financing a car I was able to keep a lot of my money rather than have some dealer enjoy the $$. Now that I am retired, I still have the money I saved so now I can buy new cars. Cash gives you a huge advantage when dealing with a dealer (almost sounds illegal) so that dollar I hung onto is worth more at the table. Automotive dealers are mostly evil and there really is only one thing they want from you. If you know what that one thing is, you have the advantage.
  12. That is why it is nice to have an old chevy truck around. The chevy doesn't mind sap nearly as much. :)
  13. Any time you buy a vehicle and only consider the monthly payments, you are asking for trouble. Cash in, cash out is the only way to deal. Typical dealer. We have one dealer in Virginia Beach/Norfolk area and they are less than acceptable to me. Of course their toyota dealership which has much competition is great. Go figure.
  14. Slight? Looks fantastic
  15. A garage works pretty well too.
  16. Oh yeah it will eat though wax, even 10 coats of wax so fast it will make your head spin. Pine sap is perhaps the single worst thing you can get on your paint, worse than seagull or osprey s....
  17. Ahhh sap, terrible. With any luck it is not pine sap. Pine sap will (and I do mean WILL) eat into the finish and there is nothing you can do. Happened on my new RAV4 recently.
  18. I saw gasoline ranging from $3.95 to $4.10 yesterday in Honolulu. Luckily, I didn't t have to buy any. Stand by for the Maui prices as I'm heading over there I. A short.
  19. Oh yeah, I really like the electric steering on my new IS. Sure won't leak there
  20. On my 1990 LS400. The car went 200000 before the ps fluid took out the alternator. There is also sometimes a leak on the parking assist vacuum tube connector.
  21. Sorry, I wasn't talking about traction or drivability rather the destruction the salt causes Drive cars in salt and they don't last long.
  22. I had the timing belt changed at 92,000 miles on my ES330. It looked perfect when it came off. I suspect the timing belts could go 200,000 or more. Of course I would only try that with a non-interference engine.
  23. Luckily for you, you had had the good sense to buy a Lexus. These cars will last as long as you take care of them. With regular PM, they should last forever unless you live in the north where nothing lasts.
  24. On my 90 LS400 there was no flash or beep, just a quiet click.
  25. Most interesting topic. My Nissan Frontier has has this code for over 10 years. The code showed up after I installed a Flowmaster muffler. Sometimes I turn it off with my scanner and sometimes it goes off by itself. Luckily, in Virginia, your car will pass inspection with a CEL illuminated.
