  1. My ES I've had for about 8 years. I have my Winterforce snow tires and will run that puppy up to Mt. Washington next weekend. I hear more snow is coming, so it will get a workout. If in the future I run across a nice LS460 I certainly would think about buying one. Like you, I kind of like my money so spending huge bucks to buy a car is something I won't due.
  2. Yes, for me cars are like my children. I will still get to see my old LS as a friend now owns it. I told him he has to come by once a month to wash and check up things. Bottom line, my wife said you can not have 6 cars of your own so now I struggle by with 5. As soon as I sell my Miata I am going to buy a corvette. For now my road car will be my ES330 which only has 80'000 miles. I just had the timing belt, water pump, belts, fluids brakes and all that done so it is okay for awhile. Let me be clear, and ES is only half the car an LS is but still better than most.
  3. I have no doubt the LS can go forever. It broke my heart but I recently sold my 1990 LS400 since I seem to have accumulated too many vehicles and I just didn't ever drive the car and a friend needed a car. Selling this was something i know I will regret. Mine had just under 200K miles when sold.
  4. Great deal for a beautiful car. Hey Billy, you better keep it in the garage as I understand the only fat person in North Korea has targeted you guys.
  5. Oh yeah, forgot this part 4 tires delivered + mount and balance $380 Bet some people paid more for just 2 tires.
  6. Yup, in a perfect world I would do all that. Haven't fooled with it in a few years. I'm just really careful not to lose the working key. I'll have to look around and see if I have a spectrum analyzer, might have one at work.
  7. When I bought this car years ago, I got two keys. One quit working with the remote, the other works fine. As is my habit, I took it all apart and cleaned it and put in a new battery. It still doesn't work and I even tried the battery in the working key. Still doesn't work.
  8. I keep threatening to sell my 90 LS 400 and then the usual thing happens, I drive it. Mine only has 193000 synthetic miles on the car. I just put new tires on and it rides so nice. I drive rental cars fairly often and my wife has the ES330 which doesn't compare. Nothing I have driven compares to the fantastic ride the LS gives. Then the engine. Oh that sweet four cam V-8 that just sings. Other than than the broken air conditioning, this is perfect. I have 3 other cars for myself so I usually don't drive the Lexus in the summer. Since I plan to retire in June, I'm thinking of going through the suspension and brakes and all the stuff I can do then maybe get the AC fixed. I have no doubt this car will last forever.
  9. Looked for a long time for replacement tires for my 90 LS400. After stalling for over a year I finally ordered a set of Fusions from tirerack.com. I was really hesitant because they were so inexpensive but I went ahead after reading all the reviews. Wonderful and very quiet tires. My beautiful LS 400 drives like new. Ran them up to about 95 (on 95) and still very smooth and stable. My brother said he has had 3 sets and they have all been great. Spend more if you like.
  10. I have 2 keys for my 90 , both with remote. Only one key will unlock or lock the doors remote. I tried a new battery to no avail. At least one still works.
  11. With a little effort you can probably find one the same color. Your font choice is difficult to read.
  12. Perhaps the bearings in your pulley are bad which is why cause the belt to throw. Trying to drive it 2 hours is futile if that is the problem because you will be unhappy.
  13. I suppose if our roads were not so bad, I wouldn't have alignment issues but that will not happen. Even with pretty much worn out tires, my car still rides quite smooth. There is a very slight vibration between 80 and 90 which I'm pretty sure is the tires. Getting really hard to buy V 15's anymore so I have put it off. The part about the worn bushing was interesting. I'll have to address those things in the next year.
  14. Very dependable cars. Sure they have a few things that go wrong like the PS and some of the instrument lights but they run so good. I've owned mine for over ten years and for a car I paid 6000 for, I have no complaints. My LS400 still drives better than any new car I have driven. Love this car.
  15. Sometimes I think if it wasn't for bad luck there wouldn't be any luck at all. I went through a period when I had a bunch of accidents most weren't my fault. Sorry to see the 2000 bashed but they will easily fix that. Paul's will be a different issue. Sorry to all. It sucks but you ain't dead so carry on.
  16. In the future keep in mind that almost every auto parts store has and OBDII scanner that they let you use for free.
  17. I bought a replacement Aisan caliper at BAP Geon maybe 7 years ago and it has been perfect. I do grease the caliper pins rather on a rather regular basis. Before I did that Delaware charged me $112.50 for a red light ticke because the thing was binding. The caliper cost me $97.
  18. I must be lazy but I'd take the car to the dealer and have them do the diagnostics. All comes down to time vs money and which you have more of at the time. Probably cost you 75 bucks to have them figure out the issue. I would not go to any aftermarket place as they don't know what they are doing half the time.
  19. Can you post pics of the wheels? I don't have my winters on yet....I just got them delivered yesterday (appointment at the Lexus dealer for the 17th)....Toyo Garit KX - 215 55 17.....and I bought a set of 'take off' 2008 IS 250 AWD wheels. I have a video of them called Winter Sneakers on youtube. Never had much luck posting pictures here.
  20. Better the fan motor or a simple restriction than the compressor. I was quoted $2500 to fix mine, now I wait for colder weather to drive it.
  21. I've heard about people having problems with the tilt before. Usually though the complaint is grinding sound. i know that somewhere on LOC there are specific threads dedicated to this rather common issue. Somewhere on my 3TB backup drive I have the information on the grinding noise problem but nothing on the "clicK." I've kind of always thought a click sound meant a breaker of some type. Of course combined with your memory loss on the seats I almost have to suspect an electrical problem, specifically, not enough. For whatever reason, these LS cars need a LOT of juice so if your battery isn't an Optima Red Top, you might have it checked. Usually free (in the car) tests at most auto parts stores. I'd start with the free check before I looked further. Of course IF your battery is weak, it won't be exactly free. Good luck
  22. Had a problem with mine, same thing. Hit a bump and upon further inspection. I foun the vacuum line which I had plugged from the power steering pump, had come off.
  23. Easy one. You need to clean the caliper pins Very easy, pull them out, wipe them off, lubricate them with high temperature bearing grease and reinstall. A lot of pele neglect to do this and this is exactly what happens. First time for me, I ate a set of pads in 400 miles.
  24. Not sure that it does...other symptoms I won't get into here. Ahhh yeah. If you are getting a little missing, you might check your vaccuum lines. I had one loose and that was the problem.
  25. Find a local Toyota dealer who will work on a Lexus. They are generally much cheaper although you might not get free coffee. The brakes are really very easy to work on so if you have the resources you might do them yourself.
