  1. $2.12 for Costco Premium. Up maybe 8 cents.
  2. Hey Angelo, well all I can say is you are in for some serious fun. Welcome to LOC where you will find a bunch of information and people who will share their experiences with you. Of course we love Lexus owners. You can put pictures of your baby on here which we would enjoy. Denny
  3. I have the Weather Tech digital fit mats in all my vehicles. They are expensive but excellent. I put them in the cars as soon as they can ship them after I buy a car. Had to wait a month for the mats for my IS250 since it was a new design.
  4. When doing what you did, it is important to make sure the fluid circulates prior to putting the cap back on. Make sure your heater is sett to the highest setting and just let the car run until you see the fluid begin circulating through the radiator opening. When the thermostat opens, the fluid level will drop dramatically and you will need to top off. If you don't do this, you will not have enough coolant. The best indication is the heat from your heater.
  5. Gotta just love auto correct
  6. Like the rest of you, I have been spoiled by years of creature comforts. Even my old 97 Silverado has 8 way power seats albeit no heat in them. Seeing this thread gave me food for thought as I thought back to my high school days in Syracuse when I worked as a dishwasher and lettuce cutter in a local steak and cocktail establishment called "What's You Beef" from 4PM when I left school until usually 1-2 in the AM. I would come out to my 63 Econoline and it would be about -8F or colder. Talk about cold? Nothing was heated because it took about a half hour for the heat to get warm and by then I was home. My dentist loved the job because since my teeth chattered viciously every night all the way home. I even found it difficult to steer and control the accelerator evenly due to shaking. The heated steering wheel would have been great then. Of course ANY heat would be appreciated.
  7. Hey Harbison. I would think that a 1998 GS and LS engine would be identical. Only the body style is different. Having looked at the SC400 engine I believe that is also the same. Man, bad bearing on a 400 engine? something I've never heard of happening. My guess is that the elderly lady dropped it off somewhere for an oil change and someone forgot to add the oil after the drain. Started it, noticed the light on and then remembered to add the oil. I've seen that happen. Had friends who had their oil changed at a Jiffy Lube, drove off heading to Florida and the engine bearings let loose in South Carolina. The damage was there, just took awhile to manifest into a disaster. Of course Jiffy Lube denied any responsibility.
  8. Made it back alive. Annoyed 3 people. Filled up with some TT-93 @ Costco. Seems gasoline prices have risen a little in the past week. Next thing I did was call Sirius and have them remove that from both my IS and my wife's RAV4 because I went to put Howard 100 on and it was not there. I called and the rep said I had XM not Sirius. I shut it off. Not sure what happened to a previously great company but between their prices being jacked up, and the automatic billing, and having to call and fight with them all the time I said (can't say here) and cut it all off. I still have my portable unit that I can use if I want. After Becki mentioned how she streams from here iPhone to car, I did that and now, no Sat radio,
  9. yeah he does. Can't help it. In fact, think I'll go out for a little run right now and see who I can disturb.
  10. I will say that driving this IS car has certainly caused my driving to tend toward the aggressive side.
  11. You should consider yourself fortunate to have a dealership that you feel cares. I just have never had that feeling. Great coffee though.
  12. Thought about this all day but I'm pretty sure I would seriously abuse this vehicle. Not excessively different from the IS F Sports.
  13. Daniel, hey welcome, now can I have your job? This could be one of the most beautiful features of the entire car. Never liked those engines that were totally plastic covered. I was blown away when they popped the hood on this puppy. Denny
  14. Seriously, drive over to dealer and make them check it out. Should not do that in a 4 door. I do know in piickups, there is a key slot that you can manually turn it off.
  15. automatic when a certain weight is placed on the seat. Take your wife on a couple good runs through McDonald's and it might function.
  16. You didn't say if it started overheated but My guess is that you threw the Serpentine Drive Belt. Almost everything runs off that and luckily, it is easy to replace. If not? Oh man. My perspective has always been that winter snow rated tires are cheaper than transmissions and fenders. I've had many dispute and claim their 3-Season tires are fine but I have also seen the results.
  17. Frank, you better believe it. I still say to this day that my 1990 LS400 was the best driving car I've ever owned. While not ever intended to be raced from lights, I did and the thing is fast. Took it up to 138 on an Interstate in an undisclosed location but it still had plenty more to go. I backed off being scared by two things Cops and Tires. Had "H" tires on at the time. I had (well still have) a 2004 ES330. Nice car, no doubt. All leathered up with options and such BUT, (big one) it is a front wheel drive boring as hell car to drive. My wife hated the car for 5 years and complained about wanting the LS400 back. Of me being selfish said keep the new one, much better. At times when the evening is quiet and a Lexus commercial comes on I am reminded. Might have been a momentary lapse of reason but I sold mine to my neighbors son (who loves it) and I see the car often. Being a good LOC'er, I do help him with oil changes, cleaning, repair stuff. Keep your car Frank. Someone might refer the ES line to glorified Camry's . Frankly (no pun intended) I think the new Avalons might be just as nice and they are priced the same. enny
  18. I especially loved the engine compartment detail. The car had some fatty tires and radial details such as the speed controled spoiler. While talking to Frenchie (the tech guy) he told me that he got to drive all the new cars on a closed circuit in West Virginia. With a 5 Litre V-8 and 400 something horsepower, apparently it is fun. Most interesting trip and my first enjoyable experience ever at a Lexus dealership.
  19. While I was out driving like a jerk in my IS250, I stopped by the Lexus dealership to talk to the tech rep there who also happens to be an LOC member. Looked over the car and sat in it, opened the hood and inspected one of the most beautiful engine compartments I've ever seen. Pretty amazing car. Showed my wife the pictures and her word were "no way." Of course I wasn't there to buy the thing, just look over the new lineup. The sweetest car I saw was a black LS460L F-Sport. With a sticker just a tick under $89,000 I'd say you'd have pretty close to a buck in that all said and done. Stunning car. Took a few pictures which I'll add. Of course they uusually flip or something but I'll try. Denny
  20. Ahh. If it loud you really want. Ditch the mufflers and run straight off the cats. Done that before
  21. Yeah. Still something best not done. My 14 IS 250 is pretty loud when floored.
  22. Years ago, right after 1975 when catalytic converters were first required, many auto parts stores sold " test pipes" which had the same connections as the converter by just a pipe. Highly illegal now. Ill bet they would go off in California with such a device. No smog testing in Virginia but still illegal to remove.
  23. PayPal is just awesome. I've been using PayPal and ebay since 1999. I have never had any issue with security on PayPal. I have had to replace one of my credit cards several times thanks to TARGET and HOME DEPOT who were slack with their security of our credit card numbers. Caused multiple issue for me. Ebay charges like a dollar to sell something now. Works the same as always but without PayPal, buying and selling on eBay is difficult at best and probably not worth the time.
  24. I haven't put a CD into a player in years. Like Becki, I use Bluetooth and my iPhone. The loss of Steve Jobs was huge, perhaps the most significant technological loss ever.
  25. Ahh Hannibal, never heard of either. Aftermarket parts?
