and I thought it was just me. People such as neighbors, friends and relatives all think I am ridiculous with my vehicles. The trim came out good with the plastic dip. of course that can also be easily removed as well. My next door neighbors kid painted his entire Maxima with plasti-dip. I guess it looks good all blacked out in matte. I'm more of a gleaming shiny finish myself. Steve, your 350 really does look rather mean. Wish y'all were around here and we could go out and take a few "test" drives on some of the back roads. I promise it is more fun than Busch Gardens.

Last year the entire snowfall for the season was 6 inches.

Here is a picture of our house in Rockland Mass BEFORE another 4 feet fell. And Logan Airport as she escaped

May I Have A Question About Jack And Part..
VBdenny replied to LS1994's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
I have seen people collapse oil pans, floor pans etc. also very important to chock wheels before lifting. Failing to use proper jack points will result in damage to the car OR you. -
May I Have A Question About Jack And Part..
VBdenny replied to LS1994's topic in 90 - 00 Lexus LS400
The jack points are crucial for the jack to work. I use a floor jack. Only change fluid there is no filter just a screen. Drain measure fill run. Repeat. Look for the two notches under the car for the jack point. Many parts under the car will not support the jack. Good luck -
Good point on that traction control does not work in deep snow. Will not allow the car to move.

In the past I lived in Tulsa, not in a long time. Like I said Oklahoma is slack, other states are not -

Don't Look Back!

I keep an eye on Boston weather since we have another home in Rockland which is south of Boston and currently buried under 10 feet of snow. My wife got out of Dodge after the first 6 feet fell when there was a short break before another 4 feet added on top. Flight was on time last week (another amazing thing). Yup, she headed down to good old Virginia Beach to escape all that and it followed her. Tomorrow will have a high of 16 degrees tomorrow and low of 8. What? Boston News: How often do you ever laugh about a weather channel story about snow? Prior to this winter I thought never however as has so often happened, I was wrong. First Tidbit:Jim Cantore and the Thundersnow. Since TWC is my favorite channel (yeah) I loved to see excitement and Jimbo did the thing going ballistic in the waist deep snow. That is true love for your job. Second Tidbit: The mayor of Boston was on TV tonight urging people not to jump out of second story buildings into the snowbanks saying "you could kill yourself" (duh) and that it was stupid. Just the delivery of the message with that condescending tone had me in stitches which hurt (also broke a rib or two). Third: The "T" (Boston Metro) rail lines will be closed for a month while people hand dig the tracks out with shovels. By hand? in 2015? Then they showed a bunch of workers in 10 feet of snow with hand shovels. I couldn't believe it. Again the rib pain was evident because watching them shovel for a month by hand cracked me up (pardon the pun). Might have to switch to another channel until ribs heal a little more. Denny

I know and I know. Love watching people out my front window sliding by on the ice. Temperature here just below freezing and dropping. I see a front moving in from the west which should deliver more snow. Since I broke my leg skiing in NH last month, I am on crutches which handle terribly on ice. Not bad in snow but on ice they will get away from you quickly. My next blurb will be about Boston. Since this is chat, I will.

Yeah, I lived in Tulsa for 5 years. Not many laws out there. -
And for any of you that think NASCAR is boring, be watching tomorrow afternoon as they race inches apart at 200mph. I'm telling you, with the big V-8's blasting, pretty awesome.
-
Now Becki. You KNOW I have that big ole Chevy Silverado. I was speaking of the content on their sites, not the vehicles. I always like to keep one V-8 around. Hey, your cars look great! Love the white C.

Alarms in general are a pain. Sometime horns are as well. I had a Cadillac that would set the horn off whenever the temperature dropped below 19F. I really enjoyed trudging outside at 3:00AM to pull the fuse. As for cussing and such. Personally, I love the stuff but as Paul said, this is a respectable place and we all try to at least appear that way. As an old teacher of mine would say "If you want to Dam something, find a river." All that aside, very happy you found the problem. The things people do to cars is insane sometimes. My neighbors kid put an obnoxious alarm on a POS Dodge Neon. Why?

My next door neighbor has a pretty blacked out Maxima. He had a set of the smoked lenses. They are only semi-legal in some enforcement opinions. I think they look... well smokin' -
Having just replace the idler pulley, the tensioner assembly and the serpentine belt on my Chevy truck, I know what you mean. Although I have not heard your cold start noise, I would first suspect the pulleys. If your timing belt was changed at 100 then the water pump was most likely changed as well. Cold weather makes bearings and things make noises. I'd go down to south Florida for a few weeks and see if the noise continues.

You are in California where even stranger things have happened. I'm bagging the idea for a NASCAR pool. Not sure what I was thinking since this ain't a Chevy site.

Is There A Battery That Doesn't Go Dead In 2 Weeks?
VBdenny replied to Dr T's topic in 01 - 10 Lexus SC430
uhh "But 13IS, you can't leave the headlights on in this car. They turn off automatically. I said I left the SWITCH on "auto." I may not be mechanically inclined, but I'm not some dumb woman." -
This happened because the idiot you bought the car from took the el cheapo route. The security system works off the original key. When you put that in the ignition, it should shut off the alarm (which disables the car as well). But, since you don't have the original key... I would just bet that Lexus puts a lithium backup battery in the alarm system otherwise when people stole cars, the could just disconnect the battery for awhile. I'm sorry I can make any suggestion other than what I would do. Find a locksmith or one of those car audio stores as both probably understand alarms. Lexus tells you to check fuses? I laughed at that. Around here they also have those Japanese import car places where the street racer people hang. I'd guess a bunch of them know alarms as well. Best of luck and sorry about you situation.

I've been to other sites a couple of times for various cars and never found any worth a hoot. Guess I've been on here for about a dozen years. Very nice that we have this and I will admit to being totally astonished at the quality of this board over the years. Add to that the vast collection of experiences and technical knowledge, mix in a batch of driving experiences and there we go. I love it.

Staying home. Got my wife out of Boston a few days ago to escape snow but it followed. Everything closed and it is a mess. Luckily, if I do go out I have that Silverado with new snow tires. Can't get to Boston in the Winter without them.

Snowing hard in Virginia Beach tonight. What is snow?
