  1. It is possible the short is in the indicator.. The problem is you need schamitic to show you where wires go to. If you could disconnect and then check wire to ground.... Meaning you would check resistance and if it was infinite then you would know it is shorted to frame.. This is complex and if ends of wires are hard to get to it may be impossible to troubleshoot. I think LEXUS has great wiring and would think its more probable for the short to be in indicator. It is also possible the wires are partially disconnected.? 1. So check connection first.. 2. Try to find source of wire? Maybe computer or the tach generator (Small generator that spins with tire revolutions) to disconnect and check resistance. You would have to disconnect both indicator and where wire ends on tach generator... On the air craft it was also possible for tach generator to short. 3. Buy indicator and replace.. OR R2 (remove and replace)\ Now none of this is a guarentee.. You see in the AF planes have up to 10 engines and we could switch gauges.. Good luck!! GO BUSH!! THE only answer to terrorism is death to them!
  2. Hey man.. four months ago I was in a similar boat.. About to buy a 98ES for 10k then I read some new posts and seen the LS400. Now after two months of ownership I am completly happy! I love my LS400 and its a 93. By far the best car I have ever owned and I feel good driving it every day! It is so comfortable. The head LEXUS mechanic informed me that the car should last till 300k.. So far I have about 1800 miles on the LEXUS with one long trip of 400 miles each way!! The ride is awesome! The problems are stated on the Laymens for Laymens of buying a LS. Check that out! That was my bible and I did not rush! Well sorta.. I also searched around 300 mile radius.. A few of the 95s I drove had front end issues! That was about a 1500 dollar minimum repair. So I avoided those issues.. Good luck
  3. Since electronics and cars are not built like they used to be. Good thing I got a 93 LEXUS ... Maybe it is build better then the new. :)
  4. Nice man.. I am thinking about buying off of a guy I met on EBAY.. Company offers a year warentee and they are ISO approved.. Also he is helpful and professional.. Total price is $250
  5. Hey ladies and genets.. Its funny.. One second I like the old conservative look then I like the new look. Today walking towards the front of the car I was like I like this look.. I love the white bumper lights.. The wheels are really nice, but I do see positives in both the new and old.. Good thing I will rotate in the winter... I know then I will miss these wheels. Cheers to LEXUS!
  6. I suspect an off scale low short.. I used to repair avionics systems and when the wires short they go off scale low..
  7. The good thing is during the winter it will be back to the way you guys like it. :)
  8. Yes I do have the factory rims.. I am going to put my winter tires on them.. Cheers
  9. The car is staying where it is at.. I need it for my financial business and keeping it close to standard is the way she will stay. Tint cost 150 bucks.. Cheers
  10. Windshield. If you have a friend who owns a shop they can usually get discount. Tires I have the Tauranza LSV and they are great!! I only have 200 miles on them, but they rated 1st on Tirerack.. I hear the pilot Michelin are awesome and they last till 70k.. Either one is about 175 a piece.. Cheers to LEXUS
  11. Helloo.. My wheels are inside my wheelwells.. I love them and reccomend them to others. Cheers to LEXUS..
  12. Two local mechanics state the job will cost about 400 bucks.. There is nothing special about LEXUS doing it, but the 1000 bucks more you will spend.. The job is hard and tedious for one to do it themselves, but if your into spending all day working with your car have fun! Cheers to LEXUS
  13. I would try to contact orriginal owner.. I mean ask dealer if they can call orriginal owner and ask if you can call.. Cant hurt..... I just purchased a LEXUS and the car has 93k.. The owner took it to LEXUS for every 5k checkup, but belt was not changed.. good luck
  14. Man that stinks.. I cleaned my engine and I was so careful with the water. I read a topic once where someone stated to leave car running.. So I did and I did not aim the water near the plugs or wires.. Good luck..
  15. Yeah Ed I was thinking the same thing.. I am thinking about silver L's.. As for the rims extending outside the wheelwell. I did not notice.. I just like the bling bling, but not to much bling bling..
  16. Check out the new rims and bumper light covers.. I like it alot!! Cheers to LEXUS.. Now I will get the HIDs..
  17. I went to tire rack 17X8 Bright Silver Paint Mille Miglia Action They are nice!! I should have them on by Friday!! Yeah!
  18. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/EFI/mainoxygensensor.html I guess they are not 200 dollars per sensor...
  19. gmantob... What is great? It seems my LEXUS is getting about 19 around town and then 23 on the highway.. She really loves the premium fuel!! I figure it must cost about 200 bucks per fuel sensor so that is 800/(.05) = 16000 miles.. I just wonder if I got a mile more per gallon or .05 (5% 19 to 20MPG) is it worth the 800 bucks? Does that make sense? Cheers to LEXUS!
  20. When I purchased this car I researched overall quality. All ratings point at LEXUS. Then I thought about reliability, image and performance. At the same time I questioned about 50 people on their LEXUS's, JAGS, BMW's and Mercedes. Amazingly every Lexus owner was extremly happy. "I love this car" and "this car has 200k miles with minimal maintenance" were common responces. When I talk to my friends with the BMW's, JAG's and Mercedes they are like "its in the shop" or "I am going to trade it in." In my eyes many happy Lexus owners keep their car for 10+ years. The decision I had to make was easy and I am very happy to see wonderful posts like the 260k LS400 doing 85 MPH (smooth and fast (no tripod)) in second gear!! So when I posted this I did not post saying LEXUS is the fastest or LEXUS is the best. I just thought the post was kewl.. FRIENDS RESPONCE: I showed my friend who has a 04 3 series BMW (si or or something special?). His responce was I can do 60 in 5 seconds wana race. It sort of made me laugh since he did not get the point. The whole 5 seconds is a joke. I dont care if it took 10 seconds for the LEXUS to hit 60. I dont plan on racing anyone..
  21. I am sure there is much faster cars with bigger and better engines, but I was excited that a similar car with 160k more miles (260k total) can do 85 so quick and smooth.. I would like to see a BMW, JAG or Mercedes with 260k still running (smooth and problem free). :) I dont know enought about JAG, BMW or Mercedes to say that, but all my friends say their cars are always in the shop. CHEERS TO LEXUS!!
  22. ummm.. 5k is not that bad.. If its in good shape that is a good deal. I would be worried, but if regular maintenance has been done it should be okay.. For sure you have to get rid of the air ride! Check the timing belt and power steering pump. Good luck man!
  23. Things dont magically just go like that.. Something was a temp fix.. What did you pay? What are the specs?
  24. Can anyone open their hood and tell me where this part goes? Thanks
