  1. does anyone have the part number for the IACV. I just want to know if it's the same part number as the 01 highlander. It's ~$50 cheaper from a toyota dealer than lexus.
  2. LexKid630, A small label that has a fan and an arrow on it has fallen off my center console and gotten lost. you wouldn't happen to have any of these available or know where I can get one would you? The dealer will only sell it along with the entire console which means ~$750.
  3. Just noticed the pinned topic. Thank you for looking. Mods, please delete this thread.
  4. Over the past couple of weeks I noticed that when I started my '99 RX300 the car would either idle very slowly or not want to start at all. A slight tap on the gas pedal would get it going fine again. I would experience the exact same thing each time I tried to start the car. Today, the car will not idle normally; even after driving it for about a mile. The car just idles very, very slowly. Has anyone else experienced this? I have no clue what the problem might be. The check engine light is not even on. Any insight will be most appreciated.
  5. I have a similar problem! Somebody tried to break into my '91 LS400. They DESTROYED the lock on the driver's side door and I think they tried to force the trunk open. I do not see any visible damage to the trunk or keyhole. However, the key goes in but does not turn to open the trunk. When I pull the release inside the car, I can hear a noise in the trunk (actuator???), but the trunk does not release. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can do to get the trunk open without wrecking the keyhole? I think I will probably have to get a competely new set for the entire car (since I need a new one for the driver's side). Has anyone here replaced these locks in their car? Did you do it yourself? How dificult would it be?
  6. They are going to make a hybrid version of this thing? Nice! Anyone else think it resembles the 7-series BMW?
  7. That's what the dealer said. I hope both of you are right. I don't want to have to make another trip for the same thing.
  8. Oh No! I think I may have this problem. After a week of noticing electical components acting up, battery died yesterday morning. Used jumper cables to get it started and drove it in to the dealer (30 miles away). The battery should have charged by then. At the dealer, the tech turned the ignition on to check the mileage. All the lights (including headlights) were on for about 30 sec. I asked him to try and start the car, he did and it only made a clicking sound (didn't start). It seems to me as though it might be the alternator (who knows). Is that usually covered under the warranty?
  9. WOW! Some very passionate opponents to the motorcycle idea. I've thoroughly taken into consideration the potential risks involved in riding a motorcycle in a city such as San Diego (and in any city, for that matter). I know that no level of training can keep a person from falling victim to the mistakes of others (which happens to be a HUGE downfall in a motorcycle). All one can do is make sure that you understand your personal limitations. Sometimes what's important is not what you do, but what you refrain from doing. My reason for dismissing better judgement is very simple: I LOOOVE TO RIDE; and what better city to do it in. I think that if I was ever going to buy a street bike, this would be the time to do it. I am 23, unmarried and have no children. Once one has a family, other things become more important. I don't mean to sound like I'm on the deffensive here but I'm very surprised at the ammount of negative feedback I got on the motorcycle. Well If any of you decide to "go nuts" and buy a motorcycle. I invite you to visit San diego on a ride. Perfect riding conditions, friendly people, and an all around great city ;) .
  10. I was about to sell my 1991 LS400 because I bought a motorcycle. I met up with a potential buyer and he was so ignorant and and annoying that I decided that I could not allow a person such as this to become the new owner of my great car. I've decided to keep my LS; even if i only drive it once a month. Anyway here's a couple of pics of the bike:
  11. I have a '91 LS400. The high-mount stoplight behind the rear woofer was not working and I was able to find a fix for it using the schematic that econ provided. It was only this light that was not working. All the other lights worked fine. Let me know if you have the same problem and I would be happy to walk you throught it.
  12. I am hoping that someone can tell me if the LCD (STEREO) part number is the same for the 97 and 98. I have a 98 and would like to order the part through Pioneer without having to disassemble the center console just to look at the stereo's model number. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. If someone knows for sure that the 97 and 98 both have the same model stereo, that would suffice. Thanks again.
  13. I have never found a greater rating than 91 here in San Diego and I have never used anything else. The owner's manual says that the fuel should be at least 91 octane.
  14. Sure Tex, I found my sensor in the trunk of the car. Direcly behind the diver's side post which holds the trunk lid on the car. The sensor is held on to the back of the tunk by a frame. The sensor will come right off if you push in the plastic clip which holds it in position. (If you position yourself standing behind your car, looking into the trunk with the trunk lid open, you can find the sensor on the left side of the back wall directly behind where the trunk lid connects to the car. You have to remove the (in my car, gray) lining in the back of the trunk in order to reach the sensor). I took off the sensor and followed the schematic to test it and make sure that it was in fact only this wire that was malfunctioning (which I already knew because these were the only lights not working). Once my suspect was confirmed, I opened the sensor and followed the path that the current leading to this wire took. I was quickly able to identify where the problem was with just a visual inspection. If you have a similar problem you should be able to see some type of interruption in the path of the current within the sensor. Remember that my car is a 1991; there may be some differences with your car. I suspect that if your re-feuling door is on the driver's side of the car, then the sensor will (probably) be in the same place but on the passenger's side of the car. The sensor is almost a cube (probably about 2"x2"x2") and mine had "TOYOTA LIGHT SENSOR" written on it. Let me know how it goes and if you need more information. Good luck with the repair.
  15. jadecuir, thanks for the offer but I would like to replace all of the bulbs with new ones in order to try and avoid more bulbs going out if I only replace the burned out ones. Thanks but I really want to find these bulbs new.
  16. :D HA!HA!HA! :D Thanks once more for your help!
  17. :D SUCCESS! :D I tested the sensor with a multi-tester. Found that only the G-Y wire that leads to the high mount stop light was not working. Opened up the sensor. Found where it had been blown out. I don't have soldering tools or experience so I took it to a local T.V. repair shop. An older gentleman (really nice guy) did it for free! I insisted on paying something but he would not allow it (I think I am going to buy him lunch later today). Got back, put the sensor back in and everything works perfectly. Econ, thanks a million. I'm going to have to buy you a beer next time you are in San diego! Thanks again!
  18. So I found the sensor. It was in the TRUK! (Driver's side though) I took the seat apart again for nothing. Now its off to test the sensor to find the fault.
  19. Yes, I saw the tutorial by lexls. It is for the climate control system though. The lights in the climate control system are screwed in. The lighting in the stereo headunit (I saw about thirteen lights) are tiny and "soldered" in.

  22. I spoke to my dealer today and they said that they do not sell the bulbs for the stereo. They told me that the only way to repair this was to get a new headunit or get a refurbished one (through them). I sent you an e-mail. Thanks flanker. P.S. Maybe you can send me your dealer's info. and I can order the lights through them.
  23. I found a thread that spoke of someone who sold a repair kit online, however, the link they provided did not work. Have any of you done this? If so, could you post the info so I can get the kit. My steering wheel is awful and I refuse to use one of those tacky covers (although the damaged wheel is not a very good look either). Thanks!
