  1. Marc, I sat in drivers seat and held button down as my daughter slammed the door, on the 4th attempt the window went down , window has worked normal since then. Knock on wood. I assume going up is the same sequence. Rob
  2. Lamont+ Which car is lurching? If you put a tranny in it and its lurching, I would think of many things. If it needs a new computer, well you already know they are expensive. It could be fuel filter, but one thing you said was left turns, if it lags only on left turns while accelerating, could be that upper motor mount, I think its called the dogbone. Mine is 2005 es330, was raised up in Fla., the cracked rubber dogbone made my car lurch in reverse. If its bad the torqueing of the engine while accelerating could cause problems. And the tranny mounts and lower motor mounts. I hope you get it fixed, keep trying,by the sounds of it you are mechanical enough to figure it out, by process of elimination. Regards Robert
  3. Hey Mate, Ive been there done that, but not on A Lexus, I would find how that spoiler mounted brake light was wired, and wire it right back,I would reckon those wires ran thru the trunk deck and back around to the brake lights,OR, that wire ran to a junction of brake wires. But without a book, and in pursuit of excellence Lexus maybe you could find out from the dealer. Remember the Nissan Cedric? I redid those brake wires to a center rear brake light. Good luck, I was thinking of adding a spoiler to my 05 ES 330,hope it doesn't have center rear brake light. Regards Robert
  4. James Too much wrong for my pea brain, I would part it out, or trade in at Lexus, the service manager gets something for bringing a potential sale to the sales manager, service manager has incentive to repair your car cheaply, so they can re sell. A terrible trick to play on a dealership is in the sates with 72 hour laws, I guess for impulse buyers, unwind your trade deal after they fix your car. LOL It happens everyday in the car business. It appears no ones answered your post because of all the problems, too complex with the cats missing, and has been sending signals wrong, Ive heard those cats are very important and cant be removed or altered to make smoothe flo thru thus more horsepower, I wander why no lights came on, or did it come on and you turned it off? Ive been wanting to do some engine work and add another 20 or 30 hp with dual turbo charger, whatever kind of headers w cats there are,if any, some kind of cold air induction, or maybe a computer chip. But it doesn't seem possible because of the cats. Ive asked several auto mechanic people how to increase hp, and they don't know. It appears someone tried with your car, and maybe they had the set up, then took it off before selling to you. Good Luck to ya, Im looking forward to hearing you got it fixed and about the cats, Regards Robert
  5. congrats,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,thats a lot of miles, but as u well know,it will go another 277k, just keep on pampering, babying and doing prevenative maint is working well for you.Soon u will become Lexus anilucious. regards gooden
  6. Just drive to a Lexus dealership and pay up,its only way. Here it is around 300, I think the valet is less than $90,probabley 89.99. I was told only get it at Lexus, another inferior version is 1/2 price yet lacking longevity. Regards Gooden
  7. I can fix your issues. The doors don't lock when the trunk is open for long periods of time, at least mine doesn't. The doors will lock if you unlock the doors and then open the trunk without opening a door. It relocks the doors after 30 seconds if you unlock them and don't open a door. As for the lights, the lights will go out once all the doors are closed. The only way you could be loosing your battery is if you are leaving doors or the trunk open say overnight. I leave my lights on when I drive too, I've never had a dead battery or the lights stay on when I didn't want them to in 6 years...
  8. 05 ES 330-The 1st of the fourth(present) generation, Dangerous dead spot in both side mirrors ,Overhead front lights are behind sun visor, Third gear to second gear a wild carnival ride at times,Trunk lighting in need of companion,The high trunk deck warrants a rear view camera or beeper,Cup holder wont open its jaws wide enough for a mason jar, 0 to 60 as smoothe and fast as any geared 6 cylinder, then the power band warps it to 80 or 90, still smoothe as silk, around 105 to 110 it likes to cruise, and that's its groove, Its great in town also, agressive yet reserved, the stock suspension is right on, especially with the right tires. Best bang for your bucks even back then. my ES has spoiled me, and about all the above biches have been fixed on newer models.
  9. Ballo Belle Here is a quote from a auto industry leader of that field :Remember our MASS AIR FLOW METER EXPERTS are available by phone or chat if you can't find what you are looking for. 1-888-907-7225. I found this on Google when my 05 es330 was acting up, I do believe my problem is same, that code comes on every1000 or1500miles. Mine idles high on start, and after fill up only reads like 288 miles to go.Where as before it would read 320 miles to empty. Someone said I was chaseing ghosts or something to mean theres nothing wrong. I hope yours gets repaired and I think youre on the right track to get it running right. Regards Gooden
  10. The special pre mixed 50/50 Toyota- Extended Life Anti Freeze is good for 10 years or 160,000km( color Pink) should last at least that long, the water pump and timeing belt are part of 90,000 mile maint., you can see the timeing belt but not water pump, the sensors will tell you if anything is amiss, I wouldn't worry about it till 60K, then get the 90,000 mile done along with antifreeze change. My car came from Fla, and I was also worried about belt, I had it changed along with water pump, cam bearings, the belt wasn't dried out and was ok, at 60k, the pink fluid was checked with rheometer and lubricity was good. Do the 90,000 at 60,000 and you will have peace of mind.
  11. 2005 ES330 cost:$12,800 at Auction in Scottsdale Arizona miles:60K Insurance:1Kdeductible,$600yearly/State Farm -Safe Driver/Multi Car Discount/No tickets. color: Silver Metallic/w gray enterior I replaced: dogbone(upper motor mount) valve cover gaskets, gas cap, had 90,000 mile service at Lexus Shop/timeing belt, water pump, cam bearings. Been doing my own work since that. Runs sweet, rides well, has minor problem at present with idle down from cold start to desired RPM,adding pink 50/50 Extra Long Life antifreeze tomorrow as its low, I do think that will fix high idle. Having driver seat recolored and repaired by OEM comp. Fibernew, having widows tinted, want a black stripe to signify. The car is like new, and I am perfectionist, have had many, but this is a Gooden. I don't have transmission issues like many, I drive around town in 3 and on hwy 4/OD, it has NO rattles, knocks,is quite and lives up to Lexus reputation. It drives like a sports car,no room for error, thats rack and pinion and Im used to it. I am second owner and have maintenance record, the car was leased and maintained in Miami by Lexus. I Have had no problems, knock on wood, and do not anticipate any with proper preventative maintenance, and common sense. I also run summer tires, makes for very quite ride and is very performance worthy.I drive hard and retired hard.
  12. I use Mobil One and filter also, Its the best for the money. Of course the royal purple is good but too expensive. As a Drilling Fluids Engineer, Mobil One was tested at a well site just for fun, it was a Amoco Drilling site, Exxon would just die if they knew you were having fun, but the lubricity tests, rheology tests, viscosity under severe temps, all were better than the other 2 tested. I wont say what they were but one started with a V, the other a P. We had no royal purple to test.
  13. Welcome to the Lexus forums gooden :)
