  1. I drain the pan with every 5k mile oil change as per the Agent's recommendation. ;) It takes less than 10 minutes to do, and I think it's a worth while task since my car has 250k miles. Every little bit helps when they get this old! B)
  2. Gumart, congrats on such a beautiful new car! She's a real beauty; that's my favorite gen too. I really like the blue(I think ES's look really nice in dark blue too). B) This is a little late, but I bought Toyota OEM hood struts on ebay for about $75 for the 2 sturts.I don't use imitation parts on my Lexi-I think it's worth it to pay up for the real deals. Not to mention, $75 is a helluva good deal. I paid 2x that for the struts on my ES. :chairshot:
  3. Very true especially if you're young in my(and in yours) case. I've gone to the dealer in t shirts and shorts, and I've been wearing dress slacks and a nice polo. The difference in the way I was treated was astouning, a complete 180. The time I wore the nicer clothes was the first time I had a pleasurable dealer experience....they offered me a loaner for a 45 min. job(the advisor looked at me and scratched his head when he got my license to copy. He siad 18?????? lol). That was a first! This can be applied to any place you go, imo.
  4. What a great question!! I would go for the Mercury w/ black aniline, '05 LS430 UL because it has 44" of front legroom...that's more than the Town Car I was comparing it to. Until I come up wth $75k for this car, my old '95 will have to do! B)
  5. You are probably looking at the transceiver for the car phone. My ES has one too, but I still have the keys!
  6. To be completely honest, I don't know. I'll check my receipt this weekend and report back.
  7. They say they are going to take care of the matter; here's what they wrote(I know the sizes aren't interchangeable; I didn't want to sound like a complete !Removed!.) and my message at the bottom.... Thank you for your inquiry. I appreciate you taking the time to advise us of this discrepancy. The 9006 and the H4 are not interchangeable parts. I will notify Marketing who handles the update of the application guide to have this corrected. Thank you. The website specifies a 9006st when the vehicle actually needs a H4 for the low beam. Perhaps this size can be substituted for the H4, but several '95-'97 LS400 owners that I know have had to exchange their lights for the H4 because of this discrepancy. Please let me know the outcome of this matter. Thank you, Blake Chataxxxxx
  8. You might want to PM 93LSowner. He is an ace with Photoshop.
  9. Absolutely!! ;) I have Silverstars in my ES3, and I don't think they are as bright as the PIAAs in my LS, but part of that problem might be that my projectors in the ES are hazy. :chairshot:
  10. You need a H4 for the low beam. There is an error on Sylvania's site. Check your owner's manual for the rest of the sizes that you need, or maybe someone else will know. ;) Edit: I just sent Osram an email asking them to look into the discrepancy on the LS's bulb size since this seems to be a common reoccurrence. I'll let yall know how they respond.
  11. Ditto. Have 'em and love 'em. I wouldn't go back to the stock lighting ever; the difference is remarkable. B)
  12. I am considering it. Ever since the tickect, I feel like every policeman on the road is after me although I really think this ticket was a bit of bad luck since I've had them tinted like this since August of '04. I feel like some sort of wanted fugitive, and I really can't take it anymore; I spend too much time behind the wheel for this. Driving the LS4 used to be enjoyable, but now I'm severly paranoid. I'm going to call my tint guy today to see what it would cost to have the front windows redone so that it comes to 40% in the front instead of just telling him to put the 20% film on there like I did last time. Thanks for the compliments. She does photograph well, but the paint needs the attention of either a professional detailer or painter. If you'd see the tint in person, I think you'd like it. It doesn't look as ghetto(my brother says it looks like a mafia car because of the black car and dark tint! lol Hmmm...I could be Tony Soprano; I've got the right build, but I would never drive a crummy Suburban. lmao) as it does in that picture when the car is dirty and the weather is overcast. The trooper had nothing to worry about when he pulled me; I had the window down the second I saw the blue strobe lights to try and avoid this situation. :chairshot: That's a cool idea about the tint! The tint on my car doesn't affect my day/night driving at all(my eyes aren't the greatest either), but it'd be cool if it could lower to 0% when parked to really protect the interior. When I had my windows done and I went back to pick-up my car, I watched the guy put some tint on a new E500. He put the film on there, and then, melted it together with a torch. It was interesting; I neverr knew how it was done. He said that job was about $700 because it was some kind of special film.
  13. Andre, the motorvac for your car probably wouldn't do any good unless you specifically notice something wrong. I did the exact same thing you did(my car was 100% at the time, but I was hoping for something even better.); I heard how great they are from several members on here, so I went to a Toyota dealer and had the service done. I got my ES back, and I couldn't notice a single difference. I'd probably wait on this service all together until you notice something directly related that area.
  14. No problemo! ;) I got the 3 pieces I listed for $550 shipped-I think that was a great deal.
  15. If you have a large enough washing machine, put your mats in there and just let them air dry before you put them back in the car. I did this, and the mats came out looking like new. I was completely amazed with the results! :D Half way through, open the lid and look at the water. It was truely repulsive!
  16. The car almost sounds too good to be true! 290hp that's the most important change to think of!! Also, the hid lights will be nice if your car is equiped. Go to http://lexls.com --> LS generations. Carl has spelled out the changes from year to year in painstaking detail. Congratulations!!!!
  17. Try car-parts.com. It's a network of thousands of junkyards across the country. I bought some upholstry pieces(seat, console, steering whl.) from one of the yards they have listed, and I'm extremely pleased!
  18. Silver, you are absolutely correct in your findings on the filter. I tried to get my local Lexus dealer to change my filter since I've heard of so many people changing them as maintinance percautions, and they said no, we don't do that service unless you notice something wrong with your car, and they further diagnose the filter as the problem. For a Lexus dealer to turn down a job at $100+ an hour, you know they aren't kidding. I've never gotten a bad tank of gas-not to say that it isn't possible, so my filter will most likely be a lifetime situation.
  19. My LS had the exact same symptoms when I accidently filled up the spark plug cylinders(or whatever they're called!) with water while cleaning the engine.:chairshot: I had trouble getting to AutoZone for a code reading. She would hardly move in anything higher than second which made sense after they retireved 4 or 5 misfire codes, and the gas fumes were horrible.
  20. That's all good to hear!! That's what I'm hoping will happen when I go to get it rechecked. It's easy to see what the amount of sun light present does to the shade of the tint in my above pictures. An hour of my time is worth the ticket I think if I get off, and if not, I think it's a good situation for a young person to learn something from. I've never been to a court room before nor have I witnessed a trial. I won't know what the ticket is going to cost until a couple weeks before my court date...that's what happened for my last ticket-this is a different parish(county), so I'll call them tomorrow and see. I have spoken to someone that has gotten a few tint tickets before, and he said they ran him about $125-$150 each. I'm looking to get off on the fact that I was ticketed for 11%, and if I could find a few state certified inspectors to meter it and say that it's anything but 11%; then, I should be off. Hmmm, if the other meters say the same things, I should get a shrink to write a letter saying I have a severe, harmful phobia of people staring at me at redlights which would allow me to have the tint, or find a dermotologist that will write me a letter saying I have a skin condition that is effected by sunlight. :whistles:
  21. Guys, that's the best color Lexus offers(yeah, I have it too)!! B) It's called Cashmere Beige- I want to say 4m9. Your car looks great!!! B)
  22. i have seen the car in person, it is pretty dark... ← It is nicely tinted. Somedays the sun makes it look like 35% and others it looks like 20%. I've got a heavy schedule this week, so I might have to wait until next week to go get the tint metered. Denny, take a look at this pic(it all depends on the sun): ....this looks like 5%. lol
  23. Enjoy..... A lady walked into a Lexus dealership to browse, and spotted the most beautiful, perfect, LS430 & walked over to inspect it closer. As she bent forward to feel the fine leather upholstery, an unexpected Little burst of flatulence escaped her. Very embarrassed, she anxiously looked around to see if anyone had noticed. Sure enough, there standing behind her was a salesman. With a pleasant smile he greeted her, "Good day, Madame. How may we help you today?" Trying to maintain an air of sophistication and acting as though nothing had happened, she smiled back and asked, Sir, what is the price of this lovely vehicle?" Still smiling pleasantly, he replied, "Madame, I'm very sorry to say that if you farted just touching it, you are gonna $hit when you hear the price."
  24. I really don't think my car had any tint on it when I got it though you raise a verry interesting point. I found a few pics. Personally, I just don't think it looks like 10%. You?? I'm going to get the windows rechecked at an inspection station or tint shop. If the readings are different, it looks like I'll be in court on 23 March! lol Hopefully, that'll be the case. If not, which I doubt, I'll feel like a real as$ for raising such a fuss for something that is true. lol I'm with you totally-I think sobriety checks are great. Plus, they check insurance/license/registration. I'd probably end up doing or saying somethings I'd regret if some uninsured person slammed into my car. LA has a cool law that I was informed of when I was dealing with insurance when my car was backed into. It's called "pay to play policy" or something to that effect. They checked my insurance coverage before they gave me authorization to get my car repaired. I think this is great. It was definantly a dirty move, but doing the right thing hardly ever gets you ahead. He knew what was going on-me being the dd; everyone else in my car was yelling and saying profane things to the trooper. lol I had to get out of the LS, so I could converse with him. He should have warned my and said get it removed by this __ date. I have no documentaton whatsoever. I don't even want to chance the situation. Not to mention, he is about 400miles from where I am. lol
  25. That's what they were doing here-looking to dwi some people. The few people I know that have dwi's, and they all got them from simple little traffic offenses like rolling stops and no turn signals. He saw that I wasn't drunk, so he had to ticket me for something. The only thing in Ruston is a univeristy, and going out on Friday nights is part of the "college experience" to most; the police know this which is why they were checking this in the first place. The trooper was a very nice, so I don't think it would sit well with him that I crammed a few extra people in my car so that they can get home safely. Here's why I object: I was waiting for this response. lol First, I was wrongly ticketed, and if I wasn't as I state above, I would gladly put the check in the mail as soon as they release the fine ammount. I want the dark tint on my LS400 for several reasons like cosmetic, cooler interior, and the protection it provides to the interior since my car sits in university lot most days of the week. Also, I hate having people stare at me, and an 18 year old in a LS400 does just that. Call me self consious, vain, whatever, I just don't like the attention. 20% tint solves that problem nicely. The trooper actually suggested that I raise the tint darkness as an attempt to lessen my fine. I don't have the invoice for the tint job. :chairshot: I had a friend with a tint shop do this "under the table," so there is no invoice. Not to mention, it could possibly get him in trouble for installing illegal tint on my car. The only way I can have 20% is if I had a skin condition with an accompaning doctors note which I don't. I'm not sure if my insurance will go up? I suppose if I get an enraged phone call from my parents in the comming weeks that they have to pay more on my insurance because of the tint, I'll know.
