  1. Pretty cool (except for those tacky, clear tail lights)! B)
  2. I guess the server is done doing what it needed to since it's plenty fast on my computer.
  3. I just changed my motor mounts last weekend. It was a gigantic pain in the !Removed!, but the results are amazing. I always thought that my old ones didn't seem that bad. But, I was way off. It feels like a new car now. It starts and sounds differently with the new mounts. No vibrations or anything. Now, I don't care when the damn thing idles down to 400rpms at stop lights since I can't feel it any more. My car also used to thump when I'd floor it. I thought it was something related to a rubber mount because for some reason it just didn't feel like the tranny. The thump is also gone. We used this thread as our guideline. Really the only deviation from what Bob did was that we didn't remove the oil filter. The passenger's side is a cake walk, and the driver's side is the difficult side. Also, 98-00 (might apply to 95-97) people watch how high you lift the engine. While installing the driver's side mount, the engine got lifted too high and snapped the right side port off of the plastic heater control valve like it wasn't even there. It was a $100 mistake.:chairshot: As far as I know the mounts on my car were never changed, and I'm at 202k miles now. The drivers side was broken in two pieces, and the right side was not quite as bad, but it was torn in the same spot as the driver's side. The trans mount was changed a year or so ago.
  4. Love the show too! I was so glad to see the Viper go--the short guy on the team was such an !Removed!. I think I kind of root for the Hummer--he drives the hell out of that thing in the challenges.
  5. Couldn't agree more. This has intermittent ECU problem written all over it to me, and the pedals/mats is just their proactive move to appease people until they figure this out. Have yall seen the way they cut the ends off the pedals. It looks horrible, and I'd never accept it in my car. Are the shifters in these cars electronic too? I remember seeing a video from a Lexus driving event, and someone driving a RX put it in reverse while driving forward, and the car disregarded the shift to reverse. Can anyone confirm this?
  6. Because it is! B) I think you can check them lifting the tire off the ground and try to lift up on the tire vertically. It takes no time to change lower ball joints; 30-45 minutes a side if memory serves. I changed mine around 170k (chasing after a mystery noise), and while they were worn, they weren't that loose and could have gone a while longer.
  7. Do you really consider a V ATP luxurious? I realize the ATP includes the entire alphabet soup of VERY high end features, but it's still got the same fairly cheap interior as the lower trims. It's got some luxury features, but it's not a luxury car. Its interior materials, dealer experience, and comfort level make it fall short of luxury car status in my book. I do think the III is a great value for a commuter car and the best buy of the line-up, since it seems like the people on PC who will search out a deal get them for $22k-$22.5k. I loved how you mentioned how arrogant the people of PC are (in a brake thread maybe), and those smug people don't even bother to fight back! lol :o I guess you are ok as long as you criticize the Prius owner and not the almighty and all perfect Prius.
  8. That is awesome! CEO Mulally is on a roll. Fords just got it right over the past couple of years with a unique line of cars that are stylish, high tech, and have great quality. This really makes me want to buy a Ford next! I really don't think the '05-'09 interior is bad at all, maybe it's because I've seen how horrid the '94-'04 interior was. When I sat in the '10 Mustang, it felt a little narrow in the hip room, so I'm a bit partial to the more spacious '05-'09...that and the fantastic experience my sister has had with her '07 -- the only problem she's had in 50k miles was a burnt tail light bulb!
  9. Without a pic, my money is on the oil pressure switch.
  10. I think the best thing to do would be for you or your mechanic to inspect all rubber bushings and mounts under the car since vibrations, quivers, clunks, etc. can come from any of a bunch of different parts. The KYB GR2 shocks seem to be the most common nonOEM choice since KYB makes the OE shocks. When I change my shocks, I'll get the KYB shocks since they are about 1/2 the cost of Lexus shocks. My '99 has pasted 200k miles, and I think I'm getting ready for some new shocks--it's getting a little floaty. At your low mileage, it's probably not necessary. I changed the springs on my former LS sometime around 285,000 miles. It made a huge difference in the way the car rode, but it did not make the car sit level which is why I bought the springs in the first place (leaned to the front left, which appears to be somewhat common.). There are only 2 front strut rods. There are rear strut rods, but other than the axle carrier bushing and the shock, rear suspension usually doesn't need much attention.
  11. LOL It's pretty impressive what people are able to fit in to the Prius, even though they are a bit small compared to what I'm used to. http://www.techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/worktruck/My main issue with them is the interior quality; it's fairly well known that the 2004-2010 models rattle pretty badly, and that's something I'd have a hard time dealing with, especially since my 11 year old LS with more than 200k miles still doesn't rattle.
  12. I've noticed this too. The Lexus cars I've had accelerate pretty hard when I hit resume. It's pretty obvious when I compared it to my dad's GM truck--which resumes very gently. I'm used to it, and it doesn't bother me since I know I can stop the car if I need to. What really bugs me is the cruise light. I wish it was like most cars where the cruise light turns on only when it's set, and not just when the system is powered up. Maybe the new ones are different. Special? That's a very nice way to characterize them. I lurk there since I'm interested in my next car having 40+ mpg, but only in small sessions since many of those kool-aid drinkers are insufferable. I just can't imagine being that obsessed with one car. I need to find a Civic Hybrid forum to see if the same type of nuts frequent those boards as well. haha
  13. A BM-Trouble You, huh? :D I'd have to get the 335D; it's one of my favorites! The 5 series is nice, but they are ancient now. Here's a 335D, and it's not even that far from you.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-3-Serie...5fCarsQ5fTrucks
  14. I seriously doubt they'll work. What's the FCC ID on your '97 fob? This is what I have on my '99 key: HYQ1512V. I bought a second remote master from Sewell for $110, and they cut it for free. I'll attach the transponder programming instructions to go along with the remote instructions that Jim posted. Transponder_909rk.pdf
  15. I agree. On both of the LSs I've had, this cover has been damaged beyond repair while going down the road. I hate these damn things, so I was happy to see them go! The car runs and performs the same with or without the cover.
  16. It's ok. I'd spend my $35k on a Genesis 4.6, LaCrosse, or Taurus SHO before I'd ever consider one of these. It's just way too dull. There's something not quite right about the center stack design, although it is certainly better than what it replaced. I would of thought that with the way the new Fords, GMs, and Hyundais are outmatching Toyota, they would have brought something better than this. But, I see it as just another boring offering from complacent Toyota, yawn.
  17. It does, but not one that looks like the ones on the 90-97. The pics of the old iacv always seem to get posted when discussing the 98-00, but this is what you actually have...PDFs: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...st&p=397146 Real life shot: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...st&p=397659 Without a/c mine will idle at 400 rpms too. It drives me crazy, and I still haven't gotten used to it after all these years. I think this is an electronic problem with a computer. If my local dealership was a little more competent, I'd consider trying to explain this to them, but it'd probably be a waste of time.
  18. So, so true. I've written to them, and he said that they don't have anything at this time for my LS400. I wasn't too surprised to hear that.
  19. Wow, that's a very nice looking car! I love Moonstone Pearl, and the green interior is pretty rare too. B)
  20. They're real Lexus parts. I've bought from them the past 3 or 4 times I've needed something, and they're the real thing. My orders always come from a dealer in Florida (Tampa maybe...can't remember)--they even use the old Toyota air filter boxes for shipping just like Park Place and Sewell. They don't get stuff sent out as fast as Park Place or Sewell, but if you're not in a hurry, it's well worth it because they are so cheap.
  21. I wish. Unfortunately, the only options are to modify the seat mounts or buy a German car since almost all of them have seat tracks that will slide the seat so far back it will hit the rear seat cushion. I've heard that shops who modify cars for handicapped people will usually take on the task of remounting the seat further back, but I've never looked in to it--I'm kind of used to not being comfortable in a car. The only cars (I know of) that have aftermarket seat track extenders are the '94-'04 (I think) Ford Mustang and '04-'09 Toyota Prius. That's a cheap price for your '93! Any issues?
  22. x2 Spend the money and get with the best. Leatherique's cleaning and conditioning abilities are amazing!
  23. No problem! I just looked at my PCV, and it fits tight but not extremely tight--I can pull it out with out having to clamp on to it with a pair of pliers and pulling with all of my might (which is what I had to do the last time I changed it), but it is also not at all loose. I'd say it's just right (the PCV and its grommet are about 8 months old). Personally, I can't see a PCV that's 98% as your problem. There's nothing odd about that. All of the check engine lights I've had (and I've had plenty on my 99) have done the same thing. When I had oil control valve problems, I'd ride around with the OBDII scanner in the driver's door map pocket to clear the codes when I wanted 30 seconds of peace since bad oil control valves wreak havoc on the idle. When you fix the problem, the cel will turn itself off shortly after you fire it up. Have you had a chance to check out your O2 sensors?
