  1. David, I think I've read that article before after someone posted the pdf's of the article on Club Lexus. I'll see if I can find it again and link it up. ;)
  2. My fault TC, the rack is leaking. The pump is nice and dry. I would bet that the pump wasn't bad in the first place, but we all know how most dealer service deptartments go about diagnosing problems! Thanks for the steps and info!
  3. I was going to comment on this, but not only do I not know where to start with all of the nonsensical fiction posted, but also, I'm not sure I can take a thread seriously that has Michael Moore's name mentioned as a source of the truth. lol

    Dui Stop

That's great, I love Reno 911! That scene always kills me when I watch it!
  5. I don't have my manuals here, but I want to say that it's under/behind the stereo in the center stack. If not there, try checking behind the glovebox.
  6. I need to do this to my car. The previous owner spent well over $1000 having the pump and one of the hp lines changed, and now 60k miles later, it's leaking again. So, how much ps fluid do I need to buy to get this done?
  7. I'm only speculating on the age. I don't really know. Can they even last that long? I've had the interior and trunk to full capacity, and I've never ever bottomed out. If they can last that long, it wouldn't suprise me if they are original to the car since we found original plugs and wires @ 230k miles. The LS actually rides pretty well after comparing it to my Aunt's pristine '95 with 110k (they were only slightly different, likely because of the huge mileage differences.). When we were discussing this a while back, I was way off to even consider that my LS would ride anything like a Town Car. My biggest quibble with the Avalon is the yellow hue to the fake looking wood trim. If it were cherry or more brown like we see in Lexus, it would be an A+ in my book! The styling took a while to grow on me, but I like it now, a lot actually. I love the trunk too, it's massive!!! I'm scared about new struts after what you told me! I wonder if aftermarket ones are more plush? I saw on the Monroe website that they list the same struts for the Town Car and LS, that's got to count for something! I always try to remember to set my brake when I'm on a hill too! I'm with you on the Avalon! It'd have to be white or beige for me, I'm done with black onyx....I want something that requires less maintinance! :D
  8. Hahaha...twin...she looks naked without the tint though! hehe j/k You did a great job with the car! How I miss the days when I had 10% on my front windows.... I did a lot of detailing today too (1 car and 2 suvs)...check out this bad a$$ Avalon LTD that I did this AM. I sure wouldn't mind having one of them....the tacky looking wood trim aside, it's really a lot of car for the money...radar cruise, keyless entry, vented seats, voice controls, reclining rear seats, xm, and no 3 spoke steering wheels that seem to plauge Lexus. And, I've never been in a car that lets you know when the hids are leveling, that's an interesting idiot light! The products aren't that expensive. I watch for specials at Autopia and Ranny @ Pak Shack will get you a nice deal and is a pleasure to speak with on the phone. Is it just me, or do these cars sit low in the rear? I know you have new springs and struts, and I have 275k spings and struts, yet my rear sits only slightly lower than yours....that makes me feel better! LOL :D It's great to see our two cars "side by side" so to speak. It's so interesting see the tolls that 270k v. 110k mileage will do to a car. Just look at your front turn signals, they're so nice and bright orange, and well, mine have seen their better days!
  9. Thanks Marty! I guess I spent 4 or 5 hours, but I went really slow and took my time. As for the best products for your car, Steve can direct you on that one! ;)
  10. Here's the official thread with more than you'll ever want to know about the issue!..... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...topic=15699&hl=
  11. Maybe try www.carstereohelp.com, but since it's a little scratched up, I'd probably try and find a replacement on ebay or from a junkyard.
  12. Thanks Sha! Thanks Steve! I'm still speechless with the results! There are still some hard to notice imperfections....I just need to find someone with a rotary, and I bet they could make it look even better...or even someone who isn't a beginner PC user! LOL
  13. Wow, who would of thought their would be such a big stink about a positive thing!?!?! At any rate, Josh and Meghan, congrats and I wish yaw'll the best of luck and much happiness in the coming years! I didn't know that"Dr. Phil McGraw" surfed these boards!! But, he gave some great advice as well as everyone else!
  14. Sweet, I notice a slightly firmer shift in to second also. ;) My solenoids are clean, my pan is drained regularly, and I have a new filter in place, so I guess it's old age and/or mileage!
  15. Defiantly snag them if they're only $200! I didn't mean to come across as an a$$, Raz, sorry! ;)
  16. That sounds a lot like strut rods to me. I'd have them checked before you have the lca's replaced as they are cheaper and easier to change. ;)
  17. This one has been beaten to death..... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...s&highlite=mxv4
  18. Yeah, a razor isn't going to do didly to it. You gotta beat on it, and she'll break free! ;)
  19. Bren, I got about 60,000 miles out of them; then, they started wobbling like crazy sobs. I love that I don't have to tip-toe around in the rain anymore with my Goodrichs. I'll take a little more road noise for excellent wet traction!
  20. Thanks Steve! It's a damn parking permit....I can't stand them at all. Thanks David! She sure does clean up well for such an old car! Nope, no changer. I'd be happy with a broken one, a working one, just something! ;) Thanks yall!
  21. Wash with NXT soap Sonus SFX1 with PC Sonus SFX2 with PC Collinite 845 IW by hand Dressed tires and wheel wells with Black Magic (it's the first time I've used it, and I'm most pleased with it.) Here are the pics: I love this shot:
  22. How did you try to remove the pan? Mine came off fairly easily with a chisel and hammer. ;) Fighting with the dip stick was the worst part for me .
  23. I'm not sure how they repair tires; I just drop them off and come back when they call me saying it's ready! LOL Here's a picture of what was probably the worse of my 4.... After a second one separated as bad as this one and refused to hold pressure, I had no choice but to get the car towed to WalMart and get the BFG put on there. As it turns out, they are very, very decent tires for the money, and I'm pretty happy. Wet and dry traction are excellent as is the ride. However, the noise could be better, but I half expected it since they have such a high tread rating (620....I think the Energys had only 400).
  24. I've been using T-IV in my '95 also with no problems. Too, since you'll have the pan dropped to get to the filter, you should clean out the solenoids down there too (bicol-ini started a thread about it. ;) ).
  25. That's great advise! ;) Datne, you have a beautiful S500!! Why are you getting rid of it? I think the w140 is my favorite, though it's a tough decision between it and the w220! If it wasn't black, I'd give serious thought to buying it since I need a larger car, but my LS is black, and I'm done with black daily drivers.
