  1. You can turn off the trac on the new IS. You could turn it off on the old IS as well. Perhaps you're thinking of the VDIM on the new model.
  2. I get the Japanese made Toyota filters from Irontoad. Costs less than a dollar more each.
  3. Consider the base price and that some of the option packages range from about $4000 to $8000 +, the sticker could easily total $44,000. If you're trading for a hight end car with lots options, then the dealer might allow you more on your trade in. It should all work out the same for the difference.
  4. WOW...IMO....u crossed the line :D :D JK ← Just can't help it man.
  5. I'd think you'd want to check with a torque wrench to see if it meets Toys' recommended minimum torque.
  6. Hello: I use the K&N Air and Oil filter, they are both great products. The Prolong Oil treatment is also a good thing to protect the engine from the hars temperatures it faces. Castrol, Mobil 1 are great oils. Lucas Oil stabilizer are great also, I use all of them in my Lex. Changed it every 5,000 miles as the book says and Mobil 1 sells an oil for that type of oil change. A cousing of mine used Castrol and his car lasted him over 30 plus years until he sold it. Rebuilt the engine twice, after using Prolong never had to adjust valves again, before had to do it once a year. I am not receiving any money or anything from any of this products, want to put that clear. Had a Mitsubishi Diamante with over 220,000 miles on the engine with prolong on it using K &N Filters. C. PR ← ← Castrol is a top brand. I've been using it exclusively since the 1960's. I use the Castrol synthetic blend now in my IS. Castrol had the first 2 stroke oil that didn't gum up the motors and exhausts on motorcycles. The original had a castor bean base and gave a "different" odor at the race tracks, but it sure did work.
  7. #1 it is the lift handle not the close handle and if it is just stuck on with tape it is junk, JDM has a total replacement handle that is chrome throughout and actually bolts on. That would be the only option and it only looks good on black and white on a GS in my opinion. ← Yeah, double sided tape might keep it on the car, but wouldn't be there long for opening and closing.
  8. Yeah, it's so sensual, sometimes I just go down in the garage at night and open and close the doors of my IS just for kicks. :D :D
  9. The Lexus salesman is still probably going to get a piece of the deal. However, I always considered it customary manners and ethics to stick with the salesman that showed me the car, unless for some reason he's totally incompatible. Like if I call about a car and then go to see it, I'll always make sure I deal with the salesman I first talked to on the phone, as he was the first contact. Perhaps you could have used the Toyota guy's price as a negotiating point with the Lexus guy.
  10. Bulb replacement guide. http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/A...LRG-Results.htm
  11. Gotta get some kind of luxo-sport package or something to get HID.
  12. I didn't know how fast I was going either. I kept seeing the tach instead of the speedo due to the switched locations. Was going 90 before I noticed, on account of the quietness and the 6 spd auto trans, I guess.
  13. Depends on where you do it and then where you go to ask for help when it's all tore up. :D
  14. You the one tearing up your car. You fix it. Personally I think you're just plain full of *BLEEP*. ← that was uncalled for...its his car...he can do whatever he wants and its none of your buisness....I understand drifting on the streets might be dangerous..but that was just unnessecary...i don't mean to start an argument or add to one...but we really dont need comments like that....srry drifter cant help you on your problem ← Oh really? I got opinions too. You don't have to like them.
  15. Why not? ← Owners manual clearly states not to use GS300/400 for towing. ← That's a good enough reason.
  16. After looking at their product lineup, I'm surprised they don't also sell tinfoil hats. :D
  17. Or get the visors that go on with double sided tape.
  18. Not sure about the emissions, but I think they are 50 state approved. 01 had some problems, being the first model. I don't think there was anything really serious. Main thing was a ECU reflash or two that was done on recalls. There were some problems with the 1-2 shift on the auto trans. The main thing is to find out if the car was serviced regularly and that there are records of that. If it was serviced at Lexus, they have it on computer. Lexus will also do a 100+ point checkup for about $100. If there are problems they usually find them. Don't know about the VIN tags, but I would trust a good body shop to be able to tell if there's been anything fixed or replaced, body wise. I believe it may be possible to remove and transfer some of those body parts stickers. If you want to run a CarFax, pm me with the VIN. I still have CarFax for a few more days.
  19. I haven't heard anything about either one for the US.
  20. Thanks. It's Matador Red Mica. Got 18" wheels option. That's about the only option available in this area now. Kept the price down to just under $37,000.
  21. I notice the slope of the mirror housing matches the slope of the windshield. That's a nice touch.
  22. I don't know. What do the competitors' dash look like?
  23. I don't know how a guy who drives a truck built in Alabama could even think about bashing Lexus. :D
  24. I think Lexus will take care of their drivers if any glitches come up. Most of the technology in the car is already proven in the GS. If you wait, you might get some discount. If a dealer wants to treat you well now, he can inflate your trade in price some and even things out some. I think there will be lots more interest in the 350 than Lexus planned, so expect a manual trans probably in 2007. IMHO. They did the same way with trans in the original IS300. The 6 speed auto with paddle shifters really impressed me. But maybe I'm easily impressed. I haven't owned a manual shift car since 1986.
