  1. Today the RX400h arrived at the dealership in NJ. It is on display for all to view. Hopefully our preordered vehicles will arrive shortly, too.
  2. Dealer informed me that the first 400h's will arrive at the west coast port (Portland, OR) on April 10th. They expect to see them in Michigan no later than April 20th. I spoke with the dealer tonight. He said that the cars aren't going to be introduced until the 20th. The cars are arriving in CA and being trucked to the East Coast. Now picture all of these car carriers traveling across the country with their 8 cars. It should be some sight to see a caravan of RX400hs. Actually,I'm quite annoyed. If they announced the date months ago, shouldn't they have planned to send the cars over the East Coast on time??? I know shipping directly involves the Panama Canal and more time, but one would have thought that they were sending these vehicles over for a month! Was there a strike in Japan? Or, was this due to that earthquake in Kyushu?
  3. This is disturbing. I heard nothing about the limited color selection. I was just asked what colors I was interested in. I provided 3 combinations. My salesman said they would be allowed to specify which colors they should get and that delivery would not be a problem before May 15. Another dealer essentially said the same thing. Is it possible that I just chose the right colors, or, is this color thing just another rumor? By the way, the people at the NY Auto Show knew even less. They told me to talk to specific people, which I did, but the guy just told me to tell the dealer what colors I wanted. Since it takes 3 weeks to ship these from Japan to NJ, we'd have to assume the cars are painted!!! When they had an earthquake on Kyushu I was ready to call Lexus and ask if their plant was affected. My husband told me that they'd never tell me the truth! So, I'm hoping the car will really arrive. I plan to take a drive down to the port, and see if I can see any of the cars. They must be stockpiling them already.
  4. I have not heard about price except that the base price is $48,535, and that Lexus usually does not charge over MSRP. ← Thanks for the info. What dealer are you using in NJ? I've been on the list for April, but I don't have that information. Since I want what is available in April, maybe there is some hope for me.
  5. I disagree with you. Try carrying 4 high school baseball players and myself in an RX merging on to and then going uphill on the busy highway. It's a scary experience. I've been waiting for Lexus to improve their performance. Yes, I care about the environment, too, so a 400h will be a great car for me. I can't wait for my new one to arrive. By the way, I'm not giving up my original RX. It has been a is staying in the family. It is a terrific car and works well for the climate of NJ.
  6. That's what Lexus told me in a letter, but my dealer knew nothing about it really happening. I understand that the cars will come in and the people at the top of the list can decide if they want the cars. They will keep going down the list. They assume that some people would want a specific color and option and that others who are tired of waiting won't want their cars at all.
  7. My transmission started acting up at 64000 miles. I really do a mixture of driving daily.Living in the suburbs, I drive short highway and city driving combos to work daily. I don't take a lot of long distance driving trips either.
  8. When I purchased my RX300 the dealer recommended premium. However, after many services they "retimed" my car and the service manager recommended regular. He said if I had any problems to just give it a couple of tanks of premium and then go back to regular.
  9. any recommendations? ← I have a 99' RX300AWD. All service has been done on time at the dealer. I heard a strange humming sound at 35-45 when coasting. They suspected bearings, etc. However, then the hum came at 25-30 when the engine was cold. Otherwise, the car drove fine. The dealer said it was the transmission. They covered it under the warranty.
  10. I submitted my deposit last April 04 and I expect to get my RX400h by June 05 at the latest, so no one can say that I'm not a patient man! I just hope I can get one of those bamboo pearl colors...... ← I put a deposit down last April, too. My dealer said that they have no clue how many they are going to get, or when I would receive mine. They assume that some people on the list would not take theirs since it is such a long wait. What number are you on the waiting list? I'm #30. I understand there are over 120 on this dealer's list. I don't think they are accepting any more. Ironically, some dealers are advertising that they are taking orders. ← I am number 15 on the list and this dealership stopped taking reservations at number 79. It appears that Lexus does not want year-long waiting lists, so they will make every attempt to stockpile as many RX400hs as possible before the April 15 release date. How many each dealership receives may depend upon its history of RX sales. I estimate that my dealership will receive 5-10 per month, meaning that I am looking at an end of May - late June delivery if every RX goes to a person on the list. If, let's say, the customer before me does not want a particular option package, then I may get mine slightly ahead of time. I do have a suspision that if someone drops off the list, instead of bumping everyone else up, the dealership may sell that spot - not sure about this, though. ← I was told by the dealership that people would be bumped up. Color and options will bump some people down and others up. On another note, I spoke with someone who drove one recently. He was extremely impressed. It had a great deal of power, too.

  12. My transmission was replaced at 68,000 miles. Lexus service diagnosed the problem, ordered it and changed it under the 6 year 70,000 mile warranty. They provided a loaner and were nice.
  13. Where did you get the new 5x9" brochure? I haven't seen it anywhere.
  14. My RX had 68,000 miles on it. I've been hearing a sound for a few months. They changed the bearings (1side and then the other), and the differential, but the sound was still there. They did hear it in the morning when it was cold and determined it was the transmission. They changed it under the original 6 year 70,000 mile warranty. I did not have an extended warranty.
  15. "Article not available at this time" ← I read the article tonight here. http://www.autoweb.com/content/shared/arti...icle_id_int/129
  16. Having received the 400h letter from Toyota, I called my salesman with whom I paid a deposit. He had no new info on the 400h. Yesterday I called the Lexus Customer Assistance Center. They said their information says February or March. I hope this is accurate because I need another car and will have to try something else if it isn't forthcoming asap.
